  1. Their is a pet sotre in Gladesville where you can do it. Also Scrub a dub dog in Mona Vale.
  2. Could you give him a big juicy bone when you apply the Aloe Vera? Might help prevent him licking it off before it has the chance to absorb. Take him for a walk, etc? His favourite distraction should work ;)
  3. Hi there, It's a Leave In Conditioner. Has soothing properties and helps create a barrier from any more dirt getting to the skin. Moisturises both skin and coat and is a nice deodoriser.
  4. Aloveen Shampoo and Conditioner is available from most vets If you google Wandering Jew, you should find some more images. It's quite pretty and makes for nice ground cover due to the purple colour on the bottom of the leaf.
  5. Oh my God I am so sorry, you must be devestated. Hugs to you and your family. RIP Kayla
  6. Dermcare also sell a Natural Shampoo which I mix with my Aloveen so it suds well in the hydrobath.
  7. Aloveen Shampoo and Leave in Conditioner - available from most vets
  8. I'm really sorry for your loss. Run in peace Minnie
  9. I find all Spaniels get smelly quite quickly - well, at least the ones I know. Try not to bathe him too often.
  10. Hi. Perhaps you need to look at his diet? I am also a believer in the more you wash the dog the smellier they get. If you could last the distance, I would try washing your dog alot less frequently and you should find that he does not get quite so smelly in such a short time frame. Although - your problem as it stands sounds as though it is more a health issue rather than simply a smelly dog perhaps. I would find out which sort of shampoo your groomer is using. Research some shampoos - buy your own and leave it at the groomers for when they wash the dog. A soap free one is best, I prefer Aloveen oatmeal shampoo. In between baths try simply wiping your dog down with a damp towel and then give him a good brush. There is also a good Aloveen Leave in conditioner which smells delicious which I use as a deoderisor in between wash days. Check your dogs ears, breath and between the pads of his paws to make sure there is no smell coming directly from there and/or a fungal infection which can get very stinky. I used to wash my Saint weekly and have now managed to stretch it out to every three weeks until she smells. She is very much an indoor dog so I am fussy about her smelling.
  11. This isnt as convenient, but has worked well for me - try smearing your hand in bitter apple or just a touch of chilli paste. They soon learn not to grab your hands. I had a dog who would grab visitors hands, so would leave the chilli or bitter apple in the mailbox for them to apply before coming in the door - took two days and never again
  12. For other Sydney-ites if you need a great vet hospital here is a blatant plug for them ;) http://www.gladesvillevet.com.au/ I cannot recommend them highly enough.
  13. Hooray! That's great news Tiana, at least it's a start you are confident about. They are fab there at Gladesville, each vet has their own special interest and Ro's is skin. She can talk skin all day if you let her And she lurrrves cats too. Mark (one of the other vets) loves rats and birds, so between them all you will be well catered for I was there yesterday seeing Max, George has broken his toe ;)
  14. My friend has started feeding it to her Brachy pup and is raving about it. Royal Canin also seem to have a really good policy aswell, they know their product is good and dont seem to ram it down peoples throats. I think it's buy 10 bags get one free? I believe it's about $120 per bag. Im thinking of doing the switch aswell, I was given some samples and the dogs wolfed them down as though they were treats
  15. Is there any reading material on the www. for this please?
  16. I also have a hydrobath and use Aloveen oatmeal shampoo and love it! Smells divine, makes their coat so soft and definitely not drying I also use the Aloveen shampoo and conditioner on my clients dogs who all remark how their skin has improved since coming to me.
  17. In Sydney. It's also a pet supplies place, and does grooming aswell. It was great when it started. The dogs got their own photo ID card, and ever 6th wash was free.
  18. There is one near me. When they first started it did really well as it's just around the corner from a doggy beach. It used to always look clean and tidy, however recently seems to have gone downhill. I dont go there anymore as they dont clean the booths out in between washes, there is always a build up of crud by the end of the day on the bath floor. Plus I have my own hydrobath.

Sorry to hear this news Bartok, especially on your Birthday :D
  20. I wonder what they have to say about ticks? Fleas I can handle, but I've already lost one dog to a tick so very diligent with my prevention and searching. Tried Frontline and was still finding ticks all over them.
  21. Dont use it on your cats though! It's extremely toxic to cats. You will need to keep your cats and dogs seperated for 12 hours after applying the Advantix to your dog(s).
  22. Caesar - if you a search on here you will find mounds of opinions on Advantix and Frontline IMO, no Frontline is not the best. For me, it hasnt worked for ticks - I use Advantix, so far, so good.
  23. A tin of Pal should get things moving. Although if she is off her food it does seem as though a trip to the vet is in order. Hope she's okay.
  24. I find with my local Lenards that the chicken needs to be fed within 12hrs, it seems to go off extremely quickly
