  1. Bora Bora, neat Tahiti. It was amazing! Interestingly, the dogs feet weren't very tight at all. There was a fair bit of space between their toes. It made me wonder if their feet had adapted due to all the swimming or maybe it's just the way they are anyway there. Not dog photos, but pics showing the stunning water. I do have a few other dogs pics but they're upsetting. Dogs aren't highly valued over there which is why this scenario was just so random. One of the girls had just had some mammary cancers removed. I lightly suggested desexing but he looked at me blankly so I left it, comforted that at the very least his dogs get vet treatment, unlike the majority there. Feeding the stingrays which kept rubbing themselves all over everyone. Apparently they're very affectionate. Sharks circling
  2. He already has two wives One on his motu and the other in the next village.
  3. Honey The both dogs came with us on the boat trip back. I cut her head off cos of the motion of the boat The local kids saw us coming and all ran down to the boat to cover the dogs in hugs and pats. Not a bad life for a dog! The girl with white on her has to be liberally covered in sun cream twice a day to help prevent burning/cancer.
  4. I've just gotten back from a holiday where there were loads of Pitbulls. This pair live on a motu, which is like a small island. we were on a boat heading towards a motu when I saw two dogs at the closer motu. The boat owner said they were his dogs and asked if it was okay for him to call them over. In the photos it doesnt look like much distance but the two motus were actually a fair way apart. He said his dogs always swim to the closer motu to wait for him and then swim back to his motu when he comes home. There were adorable! In some photos you have to really look for them, they are just specks swimming across. This first photo shows a more realistic distance between the first motu on the left and the furthest one where the dogs swam to. Two specks swimming on the left Home sweet home
  5. Completely agree with this. Prey drive triggered and now this: Good luck with him. He sounds like a lovely dog, just typical of his breed. I would love to see a photo of him, such gorgeous dogs
  6. Does she have a fb page so we can share it? Hopefully she is found soon
  7. Maybe try a uni? I am sure certain Uni students would be responsible enough and would love the company without the expense. Good luck!
  8. I dont know if its the cost which is prohibitive to groomers, more the pet owner - other clipping/bathing systems are getting up there too. Like someone else mentioned I like the idea of getting my hands in and really sudsing the dog, I do remember there was something which really put me off when I looked at it but as Im not familiar wiith it anymore, I cant remember what it was Re your Newfy. That sucks, My large Maremma with a ridiculously huge coat takes me 2 hours to groom so I dont do it that often! I remember when having Saints what a trial it was though, you have my sympathies. Hopefully you will find a speedier solution. Just went to your link and wow, yep that is a good price. Have your priced the product you need to use with it? See if there is a distributor near you, or someone who owns one, and if you can go and trial it. The Head office was in Terrey Hills, Sydney and you could go along and give it a crack, perhaps she might be able to put you on to someone in QLD who can show you hands on.
  9. We used to have an AmStaff person at Bilgola and there are a few others down the line (but still a fair way from Avalon) but can't think who, sorry.
  10. I borrowed a clients Bichon once, and also borrowed a friends Oodle. The Oodle was returned relatively normal but the Bichon....
  11. I am not going to be much help but I remember when they first came out. The purchase price (from memory) is quite a lot, they do sound good in theory though. I don't know of any groomers who have one. I am sure some do but Ive not ever seen one mentioned on various grooming forums. Re washing your dogs, could you try a wash free shampoo type product on the big hairy ones heads etc to stretch it out to 3-4 weeks? Also I find blasting mine weekly with the Oldfields helps keep them cleaner for longer, no bath, just blasting. Orindairly I'd say just hook up a hot and cold tap but with your bigguns and their coat type a hydrobath will work well.
  12. Colour aside, the conformation looks all wrong. $15K is pushing it a bit!
  13. Dogs tell you when they've had enough. Yesterdays STD happily stands on the table for the three hours to take to groom him. If for some reason I have to stop it takes longer to settle him back in the zone once back on the table, thus taking longer to groom him. I have other dogs who have shorter grooming times and wont tolerate more than 2 hours, others wont tolerate more than 1.5hrs. Once the dogs have told me it's enough then it's done. But as a grooming professional I can tell you that they cope just fine and aren't in any way uncomfortable. I have also been to Creative Grooming Workshops and while it's not my cup of tea these dogs are trained from pups or just naturally have the right temp to love all the attention. There are much worse lives these dogs can lead. efs
  14. Absolutely! I groomed one today, took me three hours. In no way did he suffer He's a good boy and loves coming to see me.
  15. Anyone who truly cares about the long term future of the breed and what they are actually breeding, is not going to call their kennel "Brutal Bullies". What a twit *roll eyes violently*
  16. When I used Advantix on Jasper. ( 2 year old 3.5 kg toy poodle) last week he went berserk. Scratching , rolling madly on my bed, was acting weird. Couldn't sit down and relax. Kept laying down, getting up , changing spots. The next night he was worse. Then gradually over next few days stopped scratching. I will never give that again. He did get sprayed with frontline by vet when he had tiny ticks and was ok. And I'm sure he's had Advantix several times before but this dose was dreadful. Definitely ring Bayer and report this. They are great over the phone but need to hear feedback.
  17. Another vote for Liberty. Very strong and well made.
  18. Im sorry Doggleworth, but I wouldntt have your dog in the same house as your baby Dont get me wrong, I have a biter here and I am in no hurry to have my dog put to sleep, but your situation is different (going by your posts) than a "normal" dog bite. eta: And I agree with your earlier post, that you cant, in good conscience, rehome this dog. Going by the information you have given, if the dog were mine I would have him euthanased. Sorry
  19. I dont think it is Marion. Cant make out the black one but the tan looks Tzu X or something?
  20. I think this is the safest option. If you put a large dog door in pane of glass I would worry the glass wouldn't be so stable. I have the same problem but don't like the insert doors so I get up during the night instead.
  21. Brachy breeds travel all the time, how do you think they get from interstate breeders to their new homes? A lot of breeders use road transport companies too.
  22. Yes they are a brachy breed. Over the years there has been a lot of confusion about these breeds flying and different airlines have different policies . I remember reading something from qantas about four yrs ago but it obviously didn't go any further, it was t the same time they said they wouldnt fly Apbts. I believe there are enforced restrictions overseas. Eta, thanks show dog . I am painfully slow and inept on the iPad
