  1. I agree, not just patella but also cruciate. My Tzu did this and it didn't seem to bother her but turned out it was her cruciate as well as patella! My Pug also does this and so I booked him in for cruciate surgery but turns out it was hip dysplasia and the vet wants to do a femoral head removal. Hopefully it's nothing major though Donatella!!
  2. I had this installed for my fence jumper: http://www.hiddenfence.com.au/ That's baloney! Plenty of people contain dogs, which can be aggressive, using electric fencing. Me being one of them and knowing of plenty of others. If anything, it contains a dog so it can't get out and be aggressive to others!
  3. I'm glad you cancelled. It takes 30 seconds to get them down and safely crate them while serving someone at the front desk. If the mobile groomer is supposed to clip his nails then make sure she does! Don't feel intimidated about it, you are paying for a service. You could always just say 'oh would you mind checking his nails, they have been really noisy lately with their clicking' etc etc.
  4. That poor w3oman, my heart goes out to her I don't think I would ever sleep again if my Esme went missing
  5. Jumping castles are great, so the kids are entertained while the parents wander around the stalls. Face painting too. Quality dog stuff, not crap stuff that you can buy in Woolies etc. Competitions - waggiest tail, owner - dog look alike etc etc. Love watching agility at these things too. And whoever speaks through the microphone, someone who doesn't YELL. Sometimes you can't hear a thing other than some annoying person and the speakers are too loud.
  6. I am a groomer so if you need any help just shout. :)
  7. He is gorgeous :) Had you used that groomer before?
  8. Same main ingredient in Advantix and Permoxin so I'd be careful with that.
  9. Well, at least you're prepared! I don't agree with you though. Like I said above, everybody copes differently and all babies are different - I don't think it's fair to judge others when it comes to things like this. I coped with a huge amount of stuff when my daughter was younger but would never judge others based on my own experiences. I think that's the biggest thing I've learned since being a mum
  10. Hang in there Teebs. Every baby is different so no one can make a judgement about these things. My dogs were all pushed to the back burner when I had my daughter but they coped just fine. When your son is older then it gets easier to juggle dogs and kids together. When they're babies it can be much harder to juggle. Frankly, I don't think a lot dogs care two hoots if they miss a walk, just so long as they get indoor time with their people.
  11. http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/354979 Link shows photos which could upset some viewers :)
  12. Thanks Ness, will do some reading on it now. Appreciate your help
  13. Megan you would be amazed at the amount of people who tell me they sleep with their dog - not only matted, they often have fleas and a shitty arse I had that today. Dog had old diarrhea caked on her backside and fresh stuff. As soon as I opened her car door to greet them, I could smell it.
  14. What does everyone think of Glyde? It's been recommended for my Pug who has hip dysplasia.
  15. Is there any info on her nature? I know she wouldn't fit here, just think it might help if people know some basics. She is gorgeous and looks so sad : (
  16. I wouldn't shave a dog off in winter and leave it at the pound. Take it the pound and leave a note saying that you are happy to groom it when they collect their dog. They may or may not take you up on your offer.
  17. I have vet biters but the vets just use their own muzzles.
  18. Hopefully this will work for you Daffyduck. It's a short clip from a dance festival they had - the way those women can shake their bootie is amazing!! http://s13.photobucket.com/user/DruC/media/Tahiti%20and%20Bora%20Bora%20July%202013/IMG_0992_zps10c54b40.mp4.html
  19. I only took 998 photos Ive just seen your other thread and there are so many empty resorts in Bora Bora. There were 17 luxury over water bungalow resorts and now since the GFC only about 8 are operating. The rest are just sitting there empty and abandoned, a lot in need of repair after the 2010 cyclone. Very sad! Clive Palmer has bought the abandoned Club Med so it will be interesting to see what he does with it.
  20. Rocketeer, we were staying in Bora Bora near Tahiti. The dogs live on a tiny motu just near Bora Bora. The dogs owner runs a business taking people out on his boat snorkeling, swimming with sharks, rays etc and back to his motu for lunch. He has two other dogs who aren't social (intentionally) and are guard dogs (I thought they were Pitties too but someone else said he was told they were Dobes). The 4 dogs together protect his motu when he is not there. You could walk from one end of the motu to the next in about 60 seconds, it was really a drop in the sand. They had two loos. I was surprised to see it was properly plumbed. His set up was amazing. He had a 'fish farm' type set up where he would keep eating fish he'd caught.
  21. Really pleased he's making progress. I'd question that he has severe sep anxiety though, he'd fall apart if this was the case. More likely he's having a sulk and does a pee in response. I've just been away for two weeks and in the few weeks leading up to going away, for the first time ever in my Pugs like he had not pee'd indoors! Im out the door and two hours later I get a text that the little **%&$ had peed on my bed and on the house sitters suit case  The next day he shot in to my daughters bedroom and peed on her cherished Pug toy! He continued to do stealth pee's inside while I was gone. I got home, he pee'd on my suitcase and bed leg and that's been it (for now).
  22. Sorry, changed my mind. Hope he isn't too upset :D :D My 8yr old went swimming with them I stayed in the boat as someone needed to take all the photos.........
