cute puppy but my male golden retreiver weighed 8 kgs at 8 weeks (he is very big though) and my female from memory around 4.5 kgs. My first point of call would be to contact his breeder and see what he/she recommends you should do

Even Scruffy Working Dogs Need A Cuddle Sometimes
Ons replied to persephone's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
gorgeous dog and photo coolies do love their cuddles -
I was told that welshies bark at everything that moves, don't know if that is true or not

Latte sounds like Em so she sleeps in a crate Mocha in another crate, sometimes in the same crate as Latte Tilly sleeps on the couch in the living room Flash always on my bed as close to me as he can get Onslow starts off on the bed and gets hot so goes lie elsewhere and then back onto the bed later - the only trouble is that he is not allowed to jump on the bed without permission so he nudges me awake until i pat the bed and up he hops

that's what I would be telling them as well - good thinking Juice I'm so glad this boy is saved and is coming to live in the beautiful country near me

from my experience AWDRI will try everything they can to help this poor fellow but like everyone else they may not have a foster carer :-( hope the boy is okay

I don't think that RSPCA works with Rescue Groups and foster carers in the city, they do have foster carers in the country So it seems that maybe it's too late for AWDRI to assist sadly another case of a working dog in the wrong home, I'm not the most active person in the world, read lazy couch potatoe but I own two working dogs and have fostered working dogs, most just need their 20 mins to 30 mins walk each day which is good for everyone but they also need mental stimulation which even lazy old me provides - sit on a chair and throw them a ball, teach them tricks, do a bit of obedience with them, talk to them all the time, take them for a long run on the weekend, take them car rides, easy peasy really but I know I'm preaching to the converted it just makes me cranky how many people get working dogs then surrender them. (but I count my blessings every day that some ***** surrendered my coolie boy, he is the most beautiful dog)

the breeder is a really nice lady At my very first show she stopped me and told me she wanted to steal my griffon pup We got talking and as a newby and I can tell you not many people even said hello to me she was very friendly and pleasant. that's the only time I have met her though, and she seemed very nice to me, the dogs that she had there looked very well looked after but I would be asking her why she has so many breeds before writing her off. My friend has pomeranians so if you would like me to ask her I will for you.

Fenced Dog Parks And Tips For Long Car Trips?
Ons replied to PoppyDog's topic in General Dog Discussion
It would not be a good idea to drive from Ipswich to Tamworth at night. Especially at this time of year when flooding could happen on the New England. I agree with exercising her before the trip. I have gone that way with dogs in the car, we didn't see any fenced parks on the way so exercised the dogs on lead. If the dog is only used to travelling for two hours at a time, then stop every two hours for a five or ten minute stretch. especially with the kangaroos as well, omg one leapt out at me the other day at abuot 5 pm, just missed it. This is only my opinion but even if you found an off leash park I wouldn't be letting my dog off in it, no idea if there are holes in the fences, what other dogs are going to be there or enter whilst your dog is there, just a recipe for disaster in a town that neither you or your dog knows. I would stop every two hours, get a very long lead and walk her about on that. If she wants to go desperately she will, if she doesn't 7 hours of not going to the toilet wouldn't be a huge concern in an adult dog. I live in Tamworth but I'll be on holidays whilst you are here :-( -
after a hard day at the office it's so nice to be greeted like you are the best person in the world, I love coming home and seeing all my dogs lined up at the sliding door excited. They run in and they are so excited they zoom around and only one is smart enough to work out that's the time to get a pat from mum. I do put my handbag down first, give the cats a smooch, open any mail so it's not me walking straight in and letting them in If your dogs get on well together I see no problems and if it's only for a few minutes you should be proud of hte progress that they have made. The only time I have had trouble is when in the past that I had a foster dog and my own dog and they started fighting when I came home

what an absolute sweetheart! Gorgeous girl and I hope she finds her furever home very soon. How are the cavs taking to her?
-
i didn't like the thought of pens either however mine go and visit my friend's place and during they day when everyone is out they are put in a pen in the mornings they run into their pen full bore, if they hated it that much they wouldn't these are dogs that are normally in a medium sized backyard when home alone or inside when I'm home so they are used to all the comforts If I lived on acerage or had an escape dog I would be buiding a pen with roof and concrete run and leaving him/her in there whilst no one is at home.

"single Parent" Dolers - How Many Dogs Do You Have?
Ons replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm single and I have five dogs and 3 cats I really noticed a difference with having two dogs to three. Then when I had three after awhile I started fostering again and really found having four dogs was not much difference than having three only that I started having two walks of two dogs instead of one walk with three dogs which is actually more hectic. So I got Latte. Two of my dogs are goldens and two are coolies. Then I got a wonderful opportunity to get a show dog so got a little griffon which made five dogs. Because he is small he really hasn't made much of an impact space wise, he is an extremely active dog though but the youngest coolie and he play for hours. The youngest coolie and griffon are the most time consuming in that the coolie is very active and the griffon is small so need to supervise him around the larger dogs but I have a routine for them all, they all know where they go for the day when I'm not home and where to eat dinner etc. I do plan on getting a couple more show dogs but am moving to a friend's place first eta crates are a godsend in my place, one in the bedroom, one in the loungeroom, youngest coolie gets fed in the crate in loungeroom and sleeps in the crate in the bedroom, griffon gets fed chicken wings/bones etc in crate in bedroom and sometimes sleeps in the crate with his sister or if I'm taking the others for walks he goes in there. -
interesting that I should read this today At Uralla Dog Show beautiful chocolate kelpie got Runner Up in Show - huge achievement for any dog and it was a stunning dog but far more stockier than the kelpies that I see around (I live in the country) and I did wonder whether the show winning kelpie would be able to do a full working day out on the farm.

What Is The Most Popular Colour In Your Breed?
Ons replied to Esky the husky's topic in General Dog Discussion
I saw a stunning GSP at Inverell Show recently that was black with white spotting, is that roaning? It was just gorgeous and the lady who owned him said that the Judges were becoming more accepting of his colouring. -
What Is The Most Popular Colour In Your Breed?
Ons replied to Esky the husky's topic in General Dog Discussion
my boy is very light but my girl is a beautiful golden. She was bred to be a showdog but unfortunately (but fortunately for me) she has far too much white on her. I asked a golden retreiver breeder/shower why most of the goldens are so light these days and she said, most likely referring to a show dog, that the darker goldens just don't have the necessary conformation and it's hard to find a good one for the show ring. I know that there are a couple at our local shows but only a couple. -
What Is The Most Popular Colour In Your Breed?
Ons replied to Esky the husky's topic in General Dog Discussion
for golden retreivers the very light "cream" seem to be the most common colour, I do prefer the darker gold though For griffons the red rough coats are the most common, not that many people know that griffons come in black as well both smooth coat and rough For coolies the blue merle is the most common and what every one seems to want not knowing that if you breed merle to merle you will more than likely end up with deaf puppies -
Glen Vernon's dalmatian won Best in Show with a borzoi runner up my friend's pom Teddy won best in Group for toy and my other friend won baby puppy in group but got beaten at General Specials by this gorgeous basenji pup It didn't start until 11 am because of the wet, today is sunny and windy which will dry the grounds quickly I can't go today, I'm flooded in at my friend's place and I don't think the Tamworth to Gunnedah road is open, alot of exhibitors who live around Tamworth are just coming over daily so I think there will be even less today
-
my vet quoted $210.00 the other day to get two baby teeth removed on a griffon, says that it was a bit more because he is a flat face breed I wanted to be able to be a few days at home with him after the operation so was going to book him in this week but I did up the bones and chicken wings at home and they fell out naturally Mocha was born on the 17/4/ so he is now 7 months so they may fall out naturally.

I left my golden retreiver pup at age 8 weeks onwards outside in a secure safe yard whilst I was at work, I did go home at lunchtime to see him. I also had a maltese at the same time but I never left her out with him, just he was too big and bouncy even at that young age. I did leave my female golden retreiver pup inside until she was a big bigger so I really think it depends on the dogs I don't tell my american golden retreiver Forum where I leave my dogs now, they think outside is absolutely dreadful and that they should be crated all day. PErsonally I think outside in a safe yard is much preferable
