  1. they are related to Pets Paradise though But the one in Tamworth refuses to sell live animals, I heard him tell someone that he never will I'm afraid I do use the one here, the toys are great as are the bones and I can't get them anywhere else - the other pet shops in town do sell live animals and stink!
  2. how awful for this to happen RIP Rowdy

    A Wet Noodle

If it makes you feel any better goldens are the same, now why stay nice and dry when there's rain to run around in and sit in and then mud to roll in Noodle is certainly a beautiful dog!
  4. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss RIP Carli
  5. RIP Daisy Go find my darling Daisy at Rainbow Bridge and play in green fields free from heart conditions and pain
  6. I'm sorry to hear this Puggles. RIP Miss Mollie, Run free at Rainbow Bridge
  7. How dreadfully sad for your family Hanahh Run free at Rainbow Bridge Lotti and Munchi
  8. When FlashBazil arrived as a foster I took him to the vets for a checkup and his vaccinations. He was also heartworm tested, the vet took a sample of blood, went out the back and then came back in after a few minutes to say it was negative. I was also told to bring him in in six months time for him to be retested as the larvae can incubate for that long (something like that anyway). He was started on heartworm treatment from the first visit. This all was done in June last year. I need to take him for that second test :D It seemed a simple test and from memory was not too costly at all.
  9. I travelled from tamworth and the drive was worth every single km.
  10. I would have loved to have come but sadly can't get time off work :-( thank you Perry's mum for emailing me the forms though, maybe next time? Flashy would love it! Hope you and Perry have a great time!
  11. a couple of years ago I had a flea infestation. Frontline just wasn't making the cut. I flea bombed the entire house and put advantix on Onslow. That seemed to do the trick. You can get the flea bombs from the supermarket, read the directions carefully and go out for the day. I also think that Onslow at that stage weighed from memory 37 kgs. The frontline was for dogs up to 40 kgs so I wondered if the dose wasn't strong enough for him. The Advantix was for dogs up to 45 kgs or 50 kgs.
  12. Onslow squats, has never lifted his leg, he was desexed at 4 months of age my old female maltese RIP used to lift her leg on everything when we were out walking Flash, now desexed, lifts his leg but I don't let him lift it on anything and everything. If we are out walking and he goes to lift it on a car tyre for example a quick tug of the lead and a "no" as I continue to walk stops anything happening.

    A Sad Week

RIP dear little doggies May your days at Rainbow Bridge be peaceful.
  14. I haven't had Tilly tested for this but to me she is allergic to lamb in dried dog biscuits. If I feed her them she immediately gets an awful rash on her tummy and scratches to distraction. The vet told me it was grass related, I don't believe that was the entire cause and ever since I have ensured her food does not contain lamb she has been okay. I haven't done the whole elimination diet or anything though. When I fed her Optimum for a week (which Onslow grew up on) she got an ear infection. So my solution is to just be on my guard for what I feed her and feed her chicken based dried dog biscuits. The boys have no allergies touch wood. I am surprised to see here how many dogs are allergic to lamb. My belief always was that it was a low allergy food for dogs and that Tilly was unique.
  15. Advance here - I can pick it up on the way from work at the produce store, put it on the account and away I go. the 3 of them seem to do well on it. I must admit that I do prefer the ingredients in Eaglepack though and will use that if I remember to order it in advance before I run out of dog biscuits and they will post it here and I collect from my local post office on a Saturday or if I'm going to visit Mum they will deliver it to her place but I have to remember to order it on a Monday as they deliver on Thursdays. Organisation and remembering is not one of my strong points

    Cleo

RIP Cleo and I hope Ellie mends quickly hugs to you Bryan for having to make a very very sad decision
  17. two weeks after I was told others may have different opinions but that's what my vet advised. If you are unsure ring up your vet and ask. as for the beach ask your vet that as well. When I lived near the beach my vet told me that my pup was fine there as the sand blows away all diseases and the pup couldn't catch anything. of course I carried her to and from the car and made sure that she didnt' "talk" to any other dogs.
  18. Oh I am so sorry to hear this! I used to love to see the photos of Max and hear about his antics which always described him enjoying his life to the absolute fullest. Very very sad RIP Max hugs to you and the rest of the family from the Onslowsmum gang.
  19. did she drink any of the pond water? One of my dogs had something similar after drinking water at Lake Burley Griffith when we lived in Canberra. Took a few doses of antibiotics and a couple of weeks but she became well again. She was prone to tummy ailments though and never had a problem at Lake Burley Griffith before, I think it was just where we were. Hope your pup gets better soon!
  20. feeding would normally be a good idea but if the pup was scared of his food bowl and a male was feeding him would it make him more petrified of both? when I had my poor "dumped in a quarry foster pup" who hid behind the dining room table for his first few days I found the best way to get him confident was just to sit on the floor and pat and fuss over my golden retriever female who he adored and basically ignore him until he got the courage to come to me when he and tilly both got lots of pats and fuss. It worked an absolute treat! So I would suggest that your husband might like to try the same. I never put any pressure on Jasper, he was to come to me and he grew somewhat in confidence enough to find a wonderful forever home. good luck with the pup!
  21. my little Maltese RIP used to get a lot of tummy upsets. always had scourban handy, great stuff, cleared her up instantly and she never suffered from dry eye
  22. mine have it on their breakfast biscuits, no complaints and the left overs don't smell horrible like some tinned food. Stools are firm and all are healthy and happy with shiny coats :-) I too stock up if it is on special, missed the 99c special though but it was $1.39 at Coles the other day so we have lots in our cupboard at the moment :-) Onslow was brought up on Optimum Puppy, it was the only biscuit he liked. i would still feed Optimum to him now except Tilly is allergic to it
  23. I walk my 3 dogs together, I was going to walk them separately but couldn't bear the thought of one staying home alone and being upset so I took the plunge and decided they could learn how to behave with the three of them being walked together. In relation to distractions I make all 3 dogs sit until the distraction goes. That way they can be near you and completely under your control with you focusing on them rather than walking as well. In fact even if there aren't distractions I do this as well for practice. As for playing, Flash used to try and start to play with Tilly, usually at the beginning of the walk. A sharp "ahh" works as well as keeping him on a shorter lead, nearer me and Tilly out on front on a longer lead. And a must is for both dogs to have leather leads. The control with a leather lead is just wonderful!
  24. Oh Cassie I am so sorry to hear this, how sad. RIP Oakley. I loved all the photos you posted of Oakley and Zephry. Such a sweet pup, what a tragedy. But how wonderful he spent his short life in such a wonderful loving caring home. Hugs to you, your OH and Zephry from myself, Onslow, Matilda-Rose and FlashBazil.
  25. and my Onslow, golden retriever, fits the category as well. Sure he plays with the others for a bit but then just sits watches. He has always been fairly quiet, just happy to be cruising and looking at what is going on rather than actually participating. My female golden retriever is the oppostire and on the go all the time! Onsy slept his puppyhood away, I swear he went into the bathroom one morning at 9 am, awoke at 5 pm and had grown 2 inches
