that's a great story! Lady sounds like a real character!

Flash has to be busy all the times, well he is a coolie. He has to know where I am and be with me. He has to know where the two goldens are, he has to know where the 3 cats and he has to make sure they are all behaving themselves. Only when he knows his family are all safe that he will relax as much as he can relax. Tilly likes to wander around and have a look at things, she too has to be with me at all times, she settles easily when it's just me at home but with visitors she paces Onslow spends his life asleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

okay I have decided I'm officially crazy because if I see a dog when I'm walking without my dogs (if I am with my dogs I'm too busy making sure they are behaving) I talk to the dog and ask how it is and whether its enjoying its outings. Sometimes I'll pat the dog, often not but I always acknowledge it. More recent times I have spoken to the friendliest ever german shepherd and rottweiler, dogs that I have never had much contact with so it was nice to meet them and frequently I see a bloke with his dog having a coffee. The dog just wags his tail now when he sees me and the bloke always has a chat, he is a brindle cross mastiff type dog so another dog that I wouldn't have much contact with. I think I would go gaga if I came across an aussie puppy! I'd love a conversation with him.

Onslow came to me to teach me about dog behaviour and how to deal with dominance issues Matilda-Rose came to me to mend my broken heart after my maltese passed away, to bring me joy and happiness and to teach me that just waking up each day is a wonderful happy occasion that should be celebrated FlashBazil came to me to tell me about the world of foster failures, foster carers, rescues and coolies.

awwww very cute!

do you mean Copper? sorry, yes Goodlett was the owner name
-
I would buy one, they really are not that expensive about $200 but you would need to check the one that is airline approved. Also by owning one you can be sure that the dog is not picking up any germs from previous dogs. and gradually crate training will mean your boy will be in a familar crate for the big move. Having a crate trained dog is wonderful especially with all the moving that you are about to do. You know where the dog is and that the dog is safe. My boy was injured badly a couple of years ago and had to spend long times in the crate, because he was so used to a crate he was happy in there and was able to recuperate without added stress of being locked up. make the crate a happy place, feed him in there and give him treats. Put in a favourite blanket and toy. Make it short periods of time at first gradually increasing them.

i'll ask my two breeder friends. Onslow I got at Armidale. So bit far to go
-
i'd go a male golden if you want a quieter dog but i thought of golden before i read they were looking at a golden but then I am bias. ;) mmmm must go smell mine, never found them smelly unless Ons has rolled in manure ;) but I will agree with the shedding.
-
I 100% agree with you Fran, and I'm sorry if it sounded like I was having a go at you because I certainly wasn't ;) In fact I do envy you your situation of a decent vet that you can take your dog in for anything. eta to try and make sense, I shouldn't post with bad flu!
-
and I've been also suggested by a vet that I am a neurotic owner because I took my dogs in, this is the vet that failed to note that my dog was beginning to have renal failure and did nothing until it was too late ;) ;) This is my opinion only but I think that rural vets tend to be a bit more "she'll be right stop disturbing us" than city vets. and I think from memory, well with border collies and ponies that Jules P may live rural. I'm lucky in a way that I'm friends with my current vet and I will just ring her and ask her opinion about stuff and her normal answer "leave it for a day or two and see what happens". So Jules P you know your dog, I would suggest she what happens for a day or two if she is not in any pain now take her to the vet tomorrow if she doesn't feel/look better and I would make the judgment on Thursday about the herding clinic :D and maybe get a rescue pony for company
-
poor dog :-( I hope she is found soon I googled an interesting article on coyotes http://www.desertusa.com/june96/du_cycot.html they say that coyotes walk on their toes so amongst other things don't know how they imagined that a shibu inu was a coyote. It would be interesting to see a picture of Goodlett.

My Dog Is Under My Neighbour's House......
Ons replied to charliehotel's topic in General Dog Discussion
with a concrete run dogs adapt really well to them, well mine did anyway -
why don't you also pm Harminee in case she doesn't see this message

my two golden retreivers don't snuggle together but my coolie will snuggle up to either the male or the female golden retreiver. I think it may be a bit of a dominance thing with Onslow but he and Tilly just love each other to bits so enjoy it.
