  1. awww Orbit looks beautiful! loved all the dogs but the cover shows some very flash pjs saying you could take the dog for a walk in them - not my small country town you couldn't ;)
  2. I have two standard leashes as well from K9 and just love them so much control when I'm walking the dogs
  3. my friend has masses of coolies but which coolie does she absolutely adore, spoils rotten, rings up to ask how he is, calls her "little man" yep, my rescue coolie boy ;) but my boy is loyal to me, if I'm around at her place he sits on my lap but the moment I get up and go out of the room he tears across and jumps on her
  4. Tilly a couple of weeks ago, I looked around and she had a dinner bowl on her I think her brother may have had a hand in it :D
  5. that is so sweet of you what a beautiful girl! may she have many years of happy living with you

    Purchasing A Puppy

with Tilly I was told that I could have one of the only two girls in the litter but the breeder was going to take first choice and wouldnt' make the choice until the dogs were 8 weeks, she wanted a girl to show. Every week I was sent photos of the two girls Every week I did a little prayer that my dog would be the darker female and on the 8th week my wish came true
  7. This is a huge issue for us. People give us numbers and we ask "are you contactable on this number ALL day" *owner nods* then we're in the middle of surgery and need to ask something trivial i.e. "we noticed a dead tooth, can we have your permission to remove it?" and all we get are message banks. It's the most infuriating thing for Veterinary staff. For all I know onsntillnflash you gave a mobile and your clinic didn't bother to try it, so not having a go at you, just trying to highlight what a pain it is!!! they left a message with my secretary at my office. My secretary didn't think to ring me on my mobile I can't remember if the vet had my mobile or not. I'd imagine that it would be very frustrating not to get hold of an owner quickly.
  8. that is scary! I remember when Tilly was being desexed and this still sends chills up my spine. I got a message to ring the vets urgently - but I didn't get it until about 3 hours later as I was out of the office. I ring urgently panicking to get told the lady is out to lunch and they will ring me back. all i'm doing is please say my little girl is alright - the answer "I don't know, the lady will ring you back". Well the lady did ring me back and all it was was whether I minded Tilly having some pain killers as they were doing some research If I hadn't been trying to hold it together they would have got a piece of my mind!
  9. I just took the Friday off work so I could have a long weekend with Tilly. She had the surgery on the Thursday, golden retreiver she was 6 months old. She was sick that night, bit off colour the next day, back to her normal boisterous self on the Saturday.
  10. the two males in the family are healthy - that is one golden retreiver from a registered breeder and one coolie who was a rescue dog from the pound their little sister lets the team down to a degree - she is also a golden retriever from a registered breeder. Her problems are allergies mainly to food but I'm really careful about what I feed her so can normally keep her allergies in check. Her symptoms are tummy rashes, itchiness, hot spots and bouts of vomiting
  11. I am no expert in kittens but my understanding is that kittens who are taken too soon from their mothers don't understand appropriate behaviour around others, that mothers and litter mates teach their kittens by biting them or other disciplining if they become rough and the kittens learn that way. I believe that the appropriate time to take a kitten from their mother is 12 weeks. All I know about this is theory is that my first cat I got when she would have been 8 weeks if that (rescue cat from vet) and she bites or sticks her claws in yet my other two cats mostly don't and they were at least 13 weeks when taken from their mother. With Hyacinth I give her a sharp no and put her down and she is is getting better. This probably doesn't help you much with your kitten but may give an explanation. I would pm The Spotted Devil as well as she knows alot about cats and kittens and ask if she could help. There is also a specific area for cats but off topic. You will need to get to 150 posts before you can access it so start posting away :D
  12. she is absolutely beautiful, just stunning another one who can't believe that she is one too!

    Rip Gabrielle

run free at rainbow Bridge sweet Gabrielle, in long green pastures and where you will only know comfort and kindness.
  14. how very sad. But i'm glad that she got to enjoy the afternoon sun, even though it is so hard at the moment it may bring you some comfort in the future that her last hours were ones of enjoyment hugs to you Robbi and RIP Jessica
  15. it's awful isn't it how dogs end up at pounds. I couldn't choose a dog directly from the pound, just wouldn't know which one to choose. However my boy was straight from the pound but I was only supposed to foster him and at least before I fostered him I knew that he had been temperament tested by a reputable person If you do want to rescue a dog I would be doing it through a reputable rescue organisation because at least you know a bit about the dog first hopefully from their foster carers. And you have indirectly saved a dog from the pound! and freed up another space for another pound dog

    Rip Indy

    how tragic RIP Indy
  17. mine rarely board the dogs going to a friend's place and getting someone in to feed the cats. But when they do I used www.tamworthboardingkennels.com.au I highly recommend them, mine love going there, they pull me over to get in! but they are happy to come home. for three dogs - one in his own kennel run at night, the other two sharing and they all sharing the large grassy run during the day and the three cats in one suite it is $50.00 per day.
  18. oh what an absolute tragic accident RIP Vader to Vader's Mum and family and Steve and your family
  19. it annoys me too especially "oh but he is friendly" he may be BUT i don't know what he has an akita was trying to say hello to my dog one day at the vets, now it's not the problem with the akita that I have but the fact that the owner was busily telling me how the dog woke up that morning throwing up everywhere. Get that dog away from my dog immediately. And a day or so later my dog started unexpectedly throwing up so I rang the vet but was shortshrifted that the akita wasn't contagious. I would never risk my cats out of cages at the vets, I can't believe people do that. And I take one cat in one cage and one cat out at a time in the surgery with the doors shut. And Onslow goes by himself so i can just concentrate on him and make him sit next to me. I would take Tilly and Flash by themselves but Tilly can be a bit scared in situations and relies on Flash for confidence but then I know Flash is super obedient so it's not normally a problem.
  20. I voted using Tilly as my example, looked up DOL, found a breeder nearby and the rest is history. Yes I would get another dog from Michelle who is a now a facebook friend Onslow from Golden Retriever Club, I was living in Moree at the time, holidaying in Sydney, every litter I rang from DOL had been sold, was referred by the Golden Retreiver Club to someone who lived in Cooma which was about the furtherest you could get from me, in fact the lady in Cooma didn't have pups but was helping one of her friends who had 3 litters and amazingly lived in Armidale which was only 3 hours away from Moree. As much as I love my Onslow I think I prefer Tilly's line.
