If Jed considered my offer and you were going down the New England Highway (which is the quickest way to Sydney from QLD in any event) I live 5 minutes off it , just north of Tamworth. I would be happy to drive the cavalier/s back to Brisbane if necessary early next year Unfortunately, as we'd be leaving from the Gold Coast and traveling by night... we probably wont be going down the New England. If I can find a day spare though I would be happy to meet you half way perhaps and make a dedicated trip. no go the New England - much better, less towns, less traffic, quicker provided you drive carefully to miss the roos and you can call in and have a cup of tea with me no matter the hour (provided you don't mind me in my jarmies :D )

My foster dog had kennel cough, she had it for about 2 weeks but only really miserable for about 3 - 4 days, I put her on antibiotics as she was in poor condition. Poor little thing, hearing her cough I have 3 other dogs and I must confess they were a bit behind in their kennel cough vacinations (but not there other vacinations). My two boys did not get any symptoms at all, they were fine. My female golden retriever caught it but she coughed for one day, was a bit off colour the next day and then as right as rain after that. so I can't say whether your dog will get kennel cough or not, just what happened when my dogs were exposed

Sheena, I note that you are from Northern NSW. I'm from North West NSW near Tamworth. Am I anywhere near you?

whoops, I kind of hinted on Facebook. ;) ;) one little coolie coming my way having been to the National Trials at Tamworth I thought how much fun it would be and my friend who breeds coolies is very encouraging as it gets her dogs "more out there". I have my eye on one little girl that is dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate coloured she is gorgeous but I do have a pick of 8 from that litter and 10 from another litter. thanks everyone, I'll do some searching maybe I should also ask how would you choose a pup with agility in mind? My plan is in a few weeks to spend a day with the pups and see who is the most responsive

more than happy to help as a foster carer for one or two cavaliers. I do have 3 dogs - two golden retreivers and a coolie but my mum and dad own cavaliers so they are used to little dogs and are fine with them. I also have 3 cats. I would leave the cavaliers in the house whilst I was at work with the bigger dogs outside though. Tiled floors - not a problem.. I live in Tamworth NSW though but there is dog transport down once a fortnight. oh and no kids here eta I owned a cavalier myself RIP Poppy so am used to the breed

can anyone recommend any? Pup is only 5 days old at the moment so plenty of time but when I get her at 8 weeks old I want to start a little bit of age appropriate training straight away with the view when she is about 18 months old starting her on agility. There really isn't an agility dogtraining place nearby unless the localish dog training club has changed. thank you

there are some very fast & full on coolies in agility, I love watching them . some of them were probably actually BC's, related to my dogs. nope they were coolies because we confirmed with owners My friend and i were like kids in a sweetshop when we saw a coolie she breeds them so was so excited to see them out doing something other than herding. We did see some beautiful bcs as well and more than likely then saw your rellies I love this thread, I'm considering getting my own pup soon for agility so love watching all the training going on. And in fact my new coolie will be Peppie, named after my friend's farm and I think I best get myself into training first though

I have done lots of research on this in the last year or so as I was considering getting a show dog (who would be foremost a pet) but wanted a small dog that would get on well with two golden retreivers, a coolie and 3 cats. Whilst there are no kids in the equation I was looking at a dog that would be fine with kids. My list came out as Australian Terrier (still top of it) Welsh Pembroke Corgi (but the Cardigan corgi could also still be on the list) and interestingly a tibetan spaniel. And my friend has just got a male tibetan spaniel for her 12 year old, lives in a multi dog, multi kid household and fits in extremely well. I would also put a cavalier up there as well, only didn't consider that as so many cavaliers being shown. Cavaliers are dogs that adapt so well to everything. We grew up with Shetland Sheepdogs and they were wonderful family dogs.

it' funny how these foster dogs have a way of telling us when they don't want to be somewhere I never really understood the extent of it until a couple of months ago when I had an enquiry for my foster dog. It was an absolutely perfect home for her and I told the people that in numerous lengthy phone calls. I also didn't hide any of her faults but she really didn't have many and whislt she was young she was a quiet girl, just wanted to be top dog but this was a home where she would be the only dog and that had had a cattle dog before. Well the people drove five hours to see her and must think I'm an absolute liar, I had never seen her display any of that behaviour before or indeed after and when they walked her she reacted to everything and pulled on her lead, stuff she hadn't done since the first few days she was with me and indeed when I took her for a walk the next day didn't do it either. She just didn't think that they were the right people for her and let me know. Banshee just simply decided she wanted to be with Yellowgirl and Yellowgirl was kind enough and responsible enough to take her back. I was told to do the alpha roll by some american friends. Never did, just seemed so wrong, and if I had my female golden retriever I'm sure would have been scarred for life.

what a great idea! I'll send one on behalf of my dogs to a dog over there

I'm teaching flash the coolie to find "insert name of cat" at the moment. With 3 cats he is going to get plenty of practice. It will be really handy if I'm not sure where they are. He must learn though that once he finds the cat he doesn't then stalk it :p

Pippi is very very cute

picking up puppy, owner got bitten i think this was past the normal puppy scuffle from my friend's account. That's why it horrified her and horrified me as well when she told me but i don't think there were holes in pups, wonder if there teeth would be strong enough to put holes in each other, ghastly thought!

my friend went to puppy school last night at the vets. she is an experienced dog owner, took her own rottweiler (sp? ) puppy who she is going to show and took her only for socialisation She told me that there were about six dogs there. A swf bought from a petshop not only bit it's owner (and not puppy play bite) but started a fight with a blue cattle dog pup who started fighting back The blue cattle dog's mum apparently was in tears as she couldn't control the pup and she had young kids too to me that is just horrifying that pups would behave like that. And I also wonder the future of these pups if they are aggressive at a young age sensibly my friend says she is not taking her pup back, that's not the kind of socialisation she wants for her. And she said that the vet nurses who were running the course did nothing to help when the pups were fighting

hoping everything is okay too

It was good enough for Dorothy in Wizard of Oz a front basket. From memory she put Toto in that. I think a basket is a great idea! -
it looks too hard a job for you best send to my place :D the pup is so cute as is your dog, both simply gorgeous!
