1. I wipe with the antibacterial wetones (in the red lid) and then use curash - works a treat for my goldies
2. I met my first up close keeshond at Onsy's groomer's place. Stunning dog! So I'll be excited about meeting yours as well as all the other Dolers and dogs
3. I wanted to meet some basenjies (sp?) stamps foot!
4. I managed to miss you at Gunnedah although apparently you were 10 feet away from me at all times so thank you for the photo And I know Flynn, he stayed at my place for an evening whilst his mum and dad and I went to the local chinese. He is a beautiful dog, even my Ons decided that a game with him would be fun
5. A couple of years ago I went from Armidale to Newcastle on the Bucket Ways, the road is all now sealed and so much quicker! It is a bit windy on the north side of Gloucester though and there was a fog. But it's certainly a good road now or it was when I travelled it :D
6. and you have accommodation Okay I might be brave and go up and say hello to people :D I wish there was a DOL badge or something so we could all recognise each other ;)
7. Who is going? I'm intending to especially to see my Tilly's breeder's new puppy
8. I hate going around to my friend's place coz her chi always tries to bite me Another one to suggest feeding in a crate. My fosters always get fed in a crate and there are no problems particularly as they all sleep in the crate as well so it's a place of nice associations. I don't know whether Maggie would do anything but i like to play safe. If anything she probably would get distracted by the others, want to play and not eat so she is better being locked up where all she can do is eat. and I let her out when I'm ready not when she wants to come out. I can feed my 3 in the same room although I space out the bowls unless it's chicken wings/bones etc. then Onslow is outside and the door shut as he can be food possessive. Now he just has a look at what's in the bowls and works out where he needs to go
9. thank you everyone for all your help. this is the little cutie pie isn't she I plan to take her also to puppy school. If I don't like what they are doing at puppy school I will just ignore, she is there just for the socialisation, I think that is important for coolies and then dog training school when she is a bit older. Is that a good idea?
10. yes I can see the concerns BUT the OP came looking for advice and is actually following through with the advice given. Getting training Kashing is fantastic I'm sure that you will follow through with it. Make a new thread on the Forum about what is the best puppy school and training centre and behaviouralist for the area that you live in. Never leave the maltese and the german shepherd unsupervised for even a minute. Even with my elderly maltese and golden retreiver puppy I never left them unsupervised, when I was at work,, the maltese was inside and the golden outside. And can I suggest that you join in the german shepherd thread on the Forum and ask questions galore. If you are willing to take advice and work hard I think that it should work out okay.

Poor Roxy

RIP Roxy, may you find love and care at Rainbow Bridge, run free
12. when the bad days far outweigh the good days. When the medication that Toby has is so strong that he is sicker from the medication than the cancer and you know that the medication will only have to get stronger and stronger. These are the guides that I used for my little maltese who had a heart condition and cancer. I think I let her go to the Bridge too soon but in my heart I know that it was the right time the only alternative was stronger medication and she reacted very badly to any medication. My Aunty says that she let her Rosie live a week longer than she should have for her own selfish reasons and that she has never forgiven herself. Take comfort that you have taken Toby in, given him love, a warm bed, good food and given him playmates and I think that you will know when the time has come for him. What a beautiful post Souff Hugs to you Newfsie
13. Mine are allowed on my bed but they have to ask first. My male golden retreiver is so good at this that he often starts on the bed in the spare room but comes into my bedroom in the middle of the night and wakes me up by nudging me to ask if he can hop up But i'm not having him hop up without permission, he can tend to be dominant.
14. those at Uralla Dog Show would be very wet The New England Highway was shut just south of Uralla last night - not sure if it was open this morning but if I was at the dog show and wanting to travel south today I would be getting concerned, it's just started bucketing down here again I'm sure we are going to get floods very shortly too stay safe everyone!
15. Whether you like Caesar Milan or not I thought that this saying was so true Rules aren’t something your dog resents—they are something he craves. Your Pup is there for a purpose plenty of time to be a pup at home
16. I was just thinking the same thing Greytmate. I have seen very placid bitches turn very protective when they have pups on the ground. This is all very worrying to me. Kaz's advice was very good as is all the other advice.
17. :D :D the owner is doing nothing! I cnt belive that! that poor little dog ;)
18. my crotchedy old maltese (RIP my darling Daisy) and my golden retriever puppy were the bestest of friends. I just never left them unsupervised. You have two pups that you can train and teach manners. I would work out what is acceptable behaviour and what is not particularly on the basis that the GSD is going to be much larger than the maltese so boundaries will need to be stricter. Have a good chat to your friend about it all and your girlfriend as well to set those boundaries you all need to be consistent. Take the two pups to a very good puppy school as well. Gosh you are going to be busy with two pups in the house but it will be so much fun
19. hope it stops raining for you guys It's bucketing here at the moment and I'm not far from Uralla My girl was born at Uralla - good luck Nistar Kennels ;) and everyone else
20. I missed walking last night because of the rain never again with a young kelpie in the house and my other 3 who can cope with the occassional missed walk were stirred up as well does not lead for a peaceful evening for me at all! tonight I have to go and get something from a friend, so will bundle the four of them in the car, drive to her place which has a huge fully fenced front yard and let them run, and towel them off before putting them back in the car and driving home. Tomorrow night I will just have to put on a raincoat and take them all out, two at a time
21. Im crying now and I'm at work I remember reading your heartache and my heart is now singing that you are sharing your life with such a beautiful girl your little ones are cute! and the three of them look so happy together PS: What does Honey think of the new car?
22. Happy Birthday Holly what a beautiful old girl you are
23. thank you all filled in they didn't recognise a coolie though, kept bringing up black and tan coonhound. So I put in other and then it let me type coolie :D
24. I have 3 dogs and a foster but about to get a fourth dog 2 are golden retreivers, 1 coolie, the foster is a kelpie and the fourth to come is a coolie I walk the golden retreivers and the coolie together, if I walk them religiously every day they are good on the lead, if they miss a day they do pull a bit but we manage. When I have four dogs it's walks of two then two food - a large bag of supercoat lasts about 3+ weeks, chicken wings, bones, home made stew are all added so nothing is too pricy - Jules P is right, the cats cost more to feed Beds - outside there are 3 beds for them to lie on during the day, at night time the foster is in the crate but my three are on couches, or my bed, or on the tiles, they have free range and inside there is no "specificc bed" for them, the fourth will be in the crate at night until older vet bills - the boys are generally healthy, if I watch Tilly's diet she is normally okay but she does get a bit of allergy problems and tummy upsets but so far, touch wood, nothing too major. Another one who says - the more the merrier
