  1. depends which dog as my dogs are all different When I took Onslow to the beach I allowed him, with the owners permission, to play with other dogs. I knew basically how Onslow would react to those dogs and I was correct, he had a great time. I probably would allow Tilly the same Flash and Latte would not be allowed to. Flash not at all, Latte I may after meeting the dog under strict guidance and everything is okay. Flash has a tendency to be bossy, the other dog may react to that and then flash would react back, much better to be safe than sorry. Mocha is very little, I allowed him to play with a beagle and labrador at show training the other day and he had a great time as they did so he is friendly but because he is very little I would be cautious. I have a friend who has alot of dogs and my dogs play regularly with her dogs and stay with her so they get heaps of socialiation with them. Even Flashy has a great time and they accept him as he is.
  2. hugs to you Jules P I think the muzzle idea is a great idea, the dogs can run around and yet not pick up anything. I also think that the anxiety will decrease as time goes by, completely understandable at the moment though so please don't feel anxious that you are feeling anxious. Just a wonderful person who loves their pets dearly.
  3. roflol I do let mine up on all furniture except if I want to sit in MY chair and they won't move I'm like RSG I just sit there anyway
  4. wow that's fantastic! congratulations to your daughter and Jessie
  5. Isn't Macau right next door to Hong Kong? Hong Kong International Airport - Macau If you are arriving via Hong Kong International Airport, the airport ferry service is available. Passengers can transit into or out of Macau via Hong Kong International Airport without the need to go through HK Customs and Immigration formalities and also without the hassle of carrying their luggage to the ferry terminal. The trip to Macau Route is approximately 45 minutes. so could you fly him into Hong Kong and then use the ferry to get him over to Macau? Would have thought it a far more direct route than flying to Manila then to Macau

    Playing Fetch

why would you want to teach a dog to fetch a ball when you have to throw it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and it constantly brings you the ball so you can throw it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over or is that just what happens in my little world of owning a coolie who is on the go all the time seriously some dogs just like fetching balls, as said have you tried a toy, some prefer fetching toys one thing my coolie has learnt is that I don't throw the ball again until she brings it within easy arm reach of me, i ignore it otherwise, much easier so that I can just sit on the chair and watch telly so that I can throw it to her
  7. Hope you feel better TLC A few years ago I got whiplash in a car accident. At the time I had my beautiful maltese, Miss Daisy D, but oh she was so hyperactive, always on the go. When I was just lying on the couch not being able to move she never left my side, never made any noise, never wanted anything. The minute I felt better she was back to her normal self
  8. Outgoing and confident I will vote for the griffon, mine loves everyone, i took him to my friend's where she has masses of dogs and he didn't bat an eyelid, just mingled in active extremely - he keeps up with my coolie up to a 9 km hike - well I'm kind of not the person to ask that because I'm not up for a 9 km hike let alone the dog but he is a very active dog and I would see no reason why not
  9. ``````1 SORRY baby griffon sleeping on keyboard who seems to like to type and won't move off Waldo is absolutely gorgeous, may you have many happy years with him
  10. I have thought of a coolie, but again a breed I don't know much about. How they differ in personality do a border collie or kelpie would be interesting. I would be worried also as the ones I have met seem to me on the lighter side, and having a 30 kilo Lab crash tackle you is not going to be great for a real light dog. I can't answer about a border collie but can about a kelpie. I fostered a kelpie last year and whilst she was the most beautiful dog she was on the go all the time. the coolies seem to have more of an off switch. I have two golden retreivers here, one 45 kgs one about 35 kgs. They play with the coolies and never been a problem whatsoever. My boy coolie is quite small too. Coolies are sturdy dogs so I dont think crash tackling would be a problem. If you are interested in coolies I am about to help my friend set up a facebook and website soon so can let you know
  11. the 36" crate in my bedroom is hidden in the corner and has a quilt folded on it during the day and put over it during the night - it looks fine. One of my coolies, Latte and my griffon sleep in that together, the other 3 sleep where they like normally on my bed or on a loungechair. Latte likes to destroy everything or barks all night, that's why she is crated and she is so good in her crate, not a peep out of her once she is in there. the griffon probably could sleep on my bed but he is only a pup so I would rather know where he was hence the crate. the 48" crate in the familyroom is so out of place and just looks plain ugly but at this stage with a very little pup in the house, four other dogs, it's very handy to have it up. I was feeding the griffon in it so he could take his time but Latte kept rushing at it and barking so she now gets locked in that crate and fed and he gets fed in the kitchen, the others in the family room. Once Mocha is alot bigger I won't need this crate so can take it down.
  12. forgot my Tilly-Rose (golden) was in the 3rd photo so that shows you how they do get on with other breeds the last photo shows my two and Latte's sister, Wagga who stayed here for a week to learn crate training before she flew off to live in Canada
  13. have you thought about a coolie? Absolutely wonderful dogs, very loyal, very loving, very intelligent. and they do have an off drive especially the boys. The boys are more socially outgoing and confident than the girls but as you say it does depend on the individual pup. My coolies play beautifully with my golden retreivers, no problems at all and the girl plays with my little griffon. she is only young so needs a reminder to be gentle which she does. these are my two coolies - FlashBazil who was a rescue dog (and as you can see has enjoyed the fine life a bit too much ) and Latte who my friend bred and her background can be traced back for generations.
  14. aww that must be hard for you and Harper six months away. Is there any visit at all during that time? and I'm sure that Harper won't forget who Daddy is when he returns
  15. my two goldens are a bit older, Onsy has been very sweet to him and doesn't mind him clamouring all over him, Tilly licks him and nutures him. Latte my coolie plays non stop and yes I had the same thoughts that Latte would be too rough, but I supervise them and stop any really rough playing, but then find Mocha goign up to Latte with tail wagging ready for more! ' Reason I chose a griffon was i heard that they were tough little dogs and this seems to be correct. I would make Snowy tired then let him play with the little foxy under close supervision and able to call them bacck at any stage.
  16. I have two golden retreivers too Monique! So they certainlly weren't that small to fit in a bowl Ons was 8 kgs when he arrived at 8 weeks, Mocha is about 2.2 kgs
  17. more photos of the little rascal! he actually is very cute and so well adjusted. Went and stayed at my friend's place the other night and she has masses of dogs, well there were 12 dogs (including my lot) milling around inside at night and he did not lift an eyelid! Got to organise his first show soon! Mocha and Latte playing they play non stop! anyone for Mocha Pudding? I don't think he was that impressed with these photos - lol Anyone for some Latte with their Mocha Pudding?
  18. I'd sleep him in a crate at night so he isn't wandering he should cry when he wants to go to the toilet as he shouldn't want his bedding soiled and then take him outside, let him do his business, lots of praise and then put him back in the crate. he may wel prefer his crate in your bedroom. everything is so new to him so he may take a time to settle in but he will get there eventually. four times in a night is a bit much, maybe it is because he could wander. I would go and get a vet check up just to make sure he doesn't have an infection oh and could we please have a photo? little bulldog puppy - awwww
  19. I was told a griffon has a similar personality to a golden retreiver I have owned my griffon pup for about 10 days now and so far he is an awesome dog! So fearless, very energetic - surprised how much - he plays non stop with my female coolie. Loves my other dogs as well and just goes up to my large golden retreiver to have a bit of a chat. SO far not much of a barker but time will tell, he is only 3 months old. And as for shedding, doubt I would even know with four other dogs in the household whose hair is whose.
  20. I just ask my vet to keep them now because at least I know where they are If I do need confirmation she is kind enough to fax me over certificates
  21. oh Gayle that is so sad kidney disease is horrible, my darling cavalier passed away from it RIP Benson and hugs to you Gayle
  22. Cindy sounded like a very special dog and will be so sorely missed RIP Cindy, Run Free at Rainbow Bridge hugs to you and I'm very sorry for your loss to Pretty Miss Emma, hugs to you and RIP Emma, Run Free at Rainbow Bridge with Cindy
  23. wowee, they are fantastic photos!
  24. What a lovely generous offer BB My coolie is 8 1/2 months old and she hasn't had a season yet, I was expecting one at six months. My friend said that with a pup in the house that would bring her in but it hasn't so far.
  25. the first night I had Latte I slept her in a crate in the loungeroom, not a peek out of her, I think that she was exhausted from her big day the second night she cried all night non stop the third night I put her crate into the bedroom, not a peep out of her and I have kept the crate in there since. Now whilst she may not like going into her crate (she lies on my bed and hides her face with her paws thinking that I won't see her ) once she is in her crate she settles straight down and goes to sleep until morning - this is a very very active dog.
