  1. golden retreiver, golden retreiver, coolie, coolie and a griffon If you have a search in general a couple of months ago I started a doggy census, it lists lots of Dolers dogs by breed and name
  2. aww your mum is saying my baby's squishy face is ugerly? I knew about the toilet paper, I didn't even think about the towels but even now he grabs clothes when I'm trying to put them on and towels.
  3. first few weeks have her or someone else come in at lunchtime to feeed and play with pup and make sure towels are off the towel railing in the bathroom - I left my griffon pup on his first day, made sure the whole house was puppyproof, came home a couple of hours later, couldn't find him, he had dragged a towel off the rail and was under it lucky he was okay but it was one thing I didn't think of. On this note my griffon pup is left in the house all day and has been since I got him, I have other dogs and they are outside when I'm not at home. Occasionally one of the golden retreivers has been inside with him but not every day. He has been fine, he brings all my clothing out to the family room but apart from that doesn't appear stressed, fine when I leave him in the morning and very happy when I get home. So I think it's perfectly doable. any chance of convincing your mum a griffon would be good terrier personality from my understanding but quieter, very lovable and lively so two walks a day would be good. Not a big barker and seems to cope with being alone.
  4. lovely stories everyone Many years ago when I was two or three, I was whining and whining to my mother to take me to pick up my sisters from the busstop after they finished school. The bus arrived at 4 pm, I was whining at 11 am so mum wouldn't take me. I decided to go myself and our little daschund (sp?) followed me. Mum noticed I was missing, frantically got in the car and was driving all over the neighbourhood trying to find me calling out my name. Eventually after some hours had passed she called out the dog's name and the dog came running up a driveway - I was quite happily playing in the backyard of a place in the sandpit. I have a large boofy golden retreiver who I thought wouldn't hurt a fly. But my niece and a friend drove into my place at midnight, I went out to greet them and Onslow went with me. His hackles went straight up, he started growling and barking until Lissy said "hey Ons whats wrong" and then tail started wagging, big grin on his face and he ran up to her.
  5. Dandybrush can you build a pen and leave them in that for the day? My coolies adapt well to a pen when we go stay at my friend's place. They know the routine well and go straight in the mornings without a complaint. Run around the place in the morning, into the pen for the day, let out in the afternoon for the night. It may well stop your dogs reacting to the dog next door and reduce the barking. When mine are at home Latte reacts to everything and has this high pitched yip yap bark. At the moment I've had to take her to my friend's who is her breeder, but they are beginning to build behind me, and she will bark and bark and bark and I worry for her safety too But at my friends she hardly barks at all in the pen
  6. that's absolutely fantastic! Well done to you and your daughters and dogs PS: Is Ochre a pekinese
  7. I post my pictures through Photobucket Lakies - an expert here oculd probably help you better Gorgeous photos! Thank you everyone for sharing!
  8. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss RIP Grotty Rotty
  9. I would be absolutely horrified if any of my male dogs peed on anybody and their clothes. One of my male dogs goes to pee on cars when I walk him and I give him a quick no and he stops (well except for the Telstra van - I let him pee on that ) People visit - dogs get put away especially if the visitors don't like the dogs. If you do let your dog out have a very short lead on him so that if he goes to pee on something you can quickly pull away with a sharp "no" and take him outside to pee. As for chewing the paws, that is a concern. My coolie does that when he is stressed so it's up to me as his owner to look for what is stressing him. He also doesn't like young dark haired men having been abused before he was rescued but he doesn't go peeing on them or their clothes.
  10. that is so cute! Norty Bruno! Do you know that Latte my coolie has destroyed all the dog beds and a couch but has never destroyed her mat in her crate, she hasn't even nibbled a corner of it. I wanted to get her a more comfortable bed to put in the crate but didn't risk it!
  11. Who is coming over the long weekend? I'm showing my griffon, it's only his second show so very excited about it all :D Also I have a huge favour to ask there's a rescue coolie pup coming to me from Wollongong but I understand can be taken to Sydney, I'm fostering her now she is a bit grown up until she can find her forever home Would anyone have any room for her to travel with them? She is desexed, only 9 odd weeks old but most importantly she is not coming from a pound environment. She has been in her foster home for at least four weeks, and has had two needles. Would love it if anyone could bring her and I will chip in $30 petrol money as well i will pick her up directly from you at any time - no problems about that. If you are able to transport her could you pm me and Cazstaff - sometimes my internet at home mucks up and I'm not at work next week I really hope someone can help
  12. yeah - Tamworth is near my place I'm not involved, my coolie pup is too young but will be soon But i'm visiting on Saturday afternoon :D with my coolie - chocolate and white so if you see her come up and say hello there's a dog show on at Kootingal in the morning so I'm taking my griffon pup to that anyone up for a DOL meet at some stage? Also I have a huge favour to ask :D there's a rescue coolie pup coming to me from Wollongong but I understand can be taken to Sydney, I'm fostering her now she is a bit grown up until she can find her forever home Would anyone have any room for her to travel with them? 13. give the show secretary a ring and see if they will accept late entries i did this with my first show, I talked so much about entering it that I completely forgot to
  14. griffons are happy friendly little chappies :D my boy loves to run around the yard but also equally happy sitting on your lap having cuddles I have four other dogs - two very large and two medium and he has just joined in with them no problems when I took him to my friends place who has masses of coolies as soon as we arrived he was out running with her lot whilst my coolie who was bred there was finding it overwhelming, the griffon certainly didn't and personality plus dogs - he is a laugh a minute! As for shedding, I couldn't say, with two golden retreivers any of his hair would just probably be absorbed anyway but seriously he doesn't seem bad at all, he is a smooth coat
  15. Okay thanks :-) His breeder entered him in his next show in October for me and didn't put him down for puppy sweepstakes but I think there is a show at the end of October, he will be six months by then but I'll enter him thank you for all the advice :D
  16. do you guys enter them? I entered Mocha for Friday and Saturday at our last show. There were so many pups, I also hadn't taught him to stand on the ground which I will need to rectify - hey he wouldn't walk on a lead two weeks ago without doing somersaults so we had great progress and he wasn't too bad standing on the table. Anyway his breeder told me that she doesn't like sweepstakes, the pups are too long in the ring as there are so many of them and sometimes the pups play with each other which is a bad thing as they think they can do that all the time. Anyway what is your view?
  17. well done Josuki and Karma! Way to go!
  18. I tried to find you Aziah on the Saturday but couldn't I'm sorry E & H, I only logged in tonight and saw your messages. I did see some super cute aussies in the sweepstakes so imagine one would have been yours! It was Mocha's and my first show too. On Friday he got best puppy in breed and the following two days second. He did so well, I'm proud of my boy. Have a bit of work to do with him though

    Toby

I am so sorry for your loss RIP Toby, go join your mates at Rainbow bridge
  20. wow! I think you would look great Inevitablue! Do you ever show up Northern NSW - Gunnedah has heaps of shows up, good camping on site, it's only a five hour trip from Sydney and it would be great to see you up here in that spiffy outfit Havent' seen that many cattledogs in the rings up here either!
  21. mine all get nicknames anyway so it doesn't matter how many syllables they have, Tilly in fact has four syllables but rarely gets her full name and Mocha who only has 2 syllables has a nickname with 8 Matilda-Rose gets called Tilly, Tilly-Rose, Tilda, Til, Rosie Til, she answers to all mocha gets Mocharina Ballerina, Mighty Mouse, Mochy Onslow gets Ons or Onsy FlashBazil gets Flashes or Flashy or flashesbazil Latte she only gets Latty
  22. what a lovely story, I'm so glad that Amy recovered and got her champion but what a hard life she must lead now keeping laps warm and helping eat dinners - every chihuahuas retirement dream job I would have thought
  23. I was thinking too at first why on earth did she get the pup but now think thank goodness she has realised that she does not have time for the pup now rather 7 months down the track when there is an adolescent husky with absolutely no training who has been stuck in a backyard all the time, and wanting to get rid of the dog all pups even of the same breed are different, her first dog may have been very cruisy and this one completely different making her rethink. My first golden retreiver pup was so cruisy I got another one - she was a completely different kettle of fish and if I had her first there was no way in the world I would have had another although I do love her dearly another one to suggest contact the breeder, I would imagine an ethical breeder would have no problem taking the pup back and would understand the circumstances.
