  1. Thank you, so should I keep using the betadine or just change to salty water?
  2. First of all Please don't jude ME for this as this is my parents dog, therefore I cannot do anything, If he was our dog he would have been at the vet a the first sign.... My parents have a almost 3 year old Pyrenian Mountain dog who has a grass seed in between his toes, it IS infected and very sore, my parents wont take him to the vet becasue the last time he had this it cost them over $400 to have removed and they just don't have this amount of money. My fiance and I have been bathing it it betadine antaseptic and covering it with bandage but it is REALLY hurting him I guess what I'm asking is WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO HELP HIM :D Believe me it's not as easy as just taking him to the vet (far to much to go into here) otherwise I obvaously would have done it already. PLEASE IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANYTHING PLEASE TELL ME
  3. R.I.P Coach..... Run free little man over Shannon nothing I can say will make it any better so I want to just tell you, I'm thinking of you and I send my love...... He is now an and will watch over you for the rest of your life..
  4. Ok so would I need to also add vitamin E when I am using "natures own odourless fish oil"?
  5. hopefully someone can tell us how much to give them, because I dont want to overdo it and it come out his bum.
  6. I can wish, the little bugger decided he didnt want his chicken tips with the oil on it, but he soon ate it cause otherwise he knows he will go hungry ;)
  7. how are you giving it to them? I am cutting the capsules and emptying them onto his food.
  8. I am just wondering how much fish oil to give Dakota? He is 11 weeks old Staffordshire Bull Terrier he is 6kg and I have 1000mg fish oil tablets, so I am wondering how many do I give him per day. He is also having linseed oil in his breakfast but only a capful. When I run out of the capsuls I will of course be buying the fish oil liquid which will be much easier
  9. Yes you are quiet right my girld did have a intrahepatic shunt. Just to let you know caninecouch if it was indeed a intrahepatic shunt it is VERY costly, to have gemma's operation she had to go to sydney for the specialist and it was estimated at between $16,000 and $18,000 and it couldn't be guaranteed she would recover. After a few more tests we decided to send her to the bridge, because of the brain damage she would suffer no matter how much we spent on her. Again I give my deepest sympathy to you and your family, may time heal your broken hearts
  10. So sorry for your loss...... I lost my first ever newfoundland due to a portiosystemic shunt, and it is EXTREAMLY rare in large-giant breeds. My girls shunt was actually in her liver therefor surgery was risky and unfortunatly before we knew what was actually wrong she had massive brain damage. She would be trying to bite you, while wagging her tail. I'm sure you will already be aware that the problem with liver shunts is because the liver is being By-passed it can't clear out the toxins from the food, there for the toxens are being put directly back into the blood stream. My girl went to the bridge agaed 11 months and for that whole time she was suffering, I knew nothing about the shunts and my vet (now ex vet) didn't even look because it is so rare in giant breed dogs. It will get easier in time, just remember all the good thing, I know that is easier said then done.... edited cause I can't spell
  11. Far out, hope he is ok and its just a cold not KC. What time does he go to the vet? Let me know how he goes, PLEASE.
  12. I have 3 dogs, the new pup is being crate trained and I am seriously thinking about getting crates for the other two. I used to think that it was the wrong thing to do, but, since learning about it and actually doing it, I would recomend it to anyone. Because when I am busy etc I KNOW he is safe.
  13. my newf gets a whole 1, once a week, she LOVES it. Then my cav just gets a piece that is right for her size, but she still wants more.
