  1. mainly due to misconceptions about the sport... Rottsaroundtheclock what club did you train with? did you attend any trials? obviously the dog shouldnt be jumping from the top of the A-frame...i have seen dogs at agility trials do the same thing... if Schutzhund gets watered-down anymore the wiggles will be able to start competing with dorothy the dinosaur. EFS
  2. thanks for the advice Erny. i havent emailed ebay but will do just on the off chance someone advertises it.
  3. Thanks KitKat, i have notified the people who you mentioned. i believe the gear was taken for someones private use and not for resale as the items are easy to identify once they are for sale. the bite suit is the only one in Australia and i doubt anyone else has can-am leg sleeves. with all the extra eyes out looking tho it will only be a matter of time before it turns up somewhere.
  4. Thanks Erny no luck yet in finding the equipment or persons responsible. atleast i have made innotek happy with ordering 2 new collars.
  5. ;) I read the topic title and thought i better check this thread out in case you were giving away a few e-collars - bite arms - leg sleeves - bite suit and scratch pants. but your story checks out so carry on back on topic fordogtrainers has some pretty good equipment and are very reasonably priced.
  6. there are a few JRT's doing schutzhund in America. cant find any pictures of them working tho
  7. mainly for breeding purposes, so they can identify what dogs come from what lines KNPV papers really arent worth what they are written on. although mixes are eligible to compete in KNPV it is very rare to see any compete apart from Malinois X Dutch Shepherds, or any other breeds for that matter. KNPV Malinios X Dutch Shepherds or "Dutch Malinois" as they are called were mainly bred around the 1930's/1940's during the time of the second world war when there was little money around for breeding/registering purebred dogs. as the Royal Dutch Police Dog Association only wanted dogs for there working ability they couldnt see the point of paying extra money to get purebred working dogs when they could breed there own dogs and put them through the KNPV trials themselves. the KNPV bred dogs became more secluded as they were ineligible to compete at IPO trials as they didnt have FCI/pedigree papers, so were restricted to KNPV work. up untill the last 10 years it was rare to see a pedigree Belgian Malinois successfully compete in the KNPV against the "Dutch Malinois" as there was such a great divide between the 2 breeds working ability.
  8. i assume it was someone involved in dog training as they left everything else in the car, just broke into the back of the station wagon and got the dog gear. thanks for the replys
  9. Sorry if this is the wrong section for this thread. Last night someone broke into my car and i had most of my training equipment stolen :D , the car was at Leppington (nsw) when it was broken into. just in the off chance someone notices it floating around somewhere i thought i would throw the details up. stolen equipment includes: 2 X Innotek FieldPro Ranger e-collars 2 X Can-Am Leg Sleeves (leg bite sleeves) 1 X Demanet Bite Suit 2 X Dogquip Multi Bite Arms 1 X Elite K9 scratch pants plus a heap of leather leads, jute bite toys etc. all equipment has been marked with "Jones" on it. link to picture of FieldPro Rangers Innotek e-collars link to picture of bite suit Bite Suit i cant find other pictures of the equipment listed. the leg sleeves are bright red with black straps on the back of them. all up the equipment is worth about 7 grand to replace , i suppose that will teach me for leaving it all in the car. edit for spelling. and feel free to take the law into your own hands if you find the person/persons responsible
  10. Mostly all KNPV line Mals have Dutch Shepherds in there lines if you go far enough back, and vice versa. you can get a black "Mal" when you cross a mal with a dutch, but most of the black mals you see were crossed with groens some time back. this was done to get the recessive black gene in there lines of dogs. if you look at KNPV line dogs you will see on there papers MH X HH or xMH - xHH or something similar. MH = Mechelse Herder (Belgian Malinois) HH = Hollandse Herder (Dutch Shepherd) the photo shows 6 X Hollandse Herders and 5 X Mechelse Herders
  11. contact the ndtf and see if they can put you onto someone who they recommend.
  12. you need to seek help from an experienced trainer for them to determine what the best training aid will be not just guess…. I have fitted thousands of prong collars to dogs and had no problems with the dogs receiving injury…but I wouldn’t be suggesting any training aid without first seeing the dog….
  13. oops forgot about the rheostat dial. what collar do u prefer myszka?
  14. my field pro has 15 levels, there is a dogtra collar with 20 levels. i havent heard of or seen a e-collar with 100 levels of stim, kind of lou i went to a LEO seminar about 6 years ago and you were there. surely you would remember me
  15. Hi Lou, i think you just scrape by in the qualification department to talk on e-collars,
  16. it is an excellent effort, alot of work goes into getting a dog trained up for personal protection work, especially if it is a malinois lets just hope the dogue hasnt been watching the malinois and think he can be a flier :D
  17. good work :D look at her pedigree im not surprised she likes the suit, its in her blood
  18. in theory as the ANKC are a private club and it is part of there rules and regulations they can suspend your membership for not following there guidelines. practically they would have a hard time proving it.... edit to add: i am not a member of the ankc, and does anyone know if someone has been banned / suspended for undertaking in protection training?
  19. 1.7 ANKC Policy on Attack Training It was resolved that all ANKC Member Bodies confirm their commitment to the ANKC Policy on Attack Training (adopted 8/8/01) which reads as follows – “The Australian National Kennel Council and its Member Bodies totally and unequivocally oppose the practice of training of a dog to attack humans or any other animals, or of causing dogs to fight. We totally support any State or Federal laws that would outlaw this practice. Such practice is an offence against Member Bodies’ Regulations. Whilst appreciating the rivalry within the pack, we expect all members to have their dogs under their control, particularly whilst in public places. They should endeavour to ensure that their animals do not participate in a one on one, or many on one, aggressive act at any time” In addition, no Member Body is to support an application for affiliation from an organization, which promotes any activity involving “bite work” contrary to the letter ort spirit of the above ANKC Policy. All Member Bodies are advised that “ The Working German Shepherd Dog Club of Australia ", and " The Working German Shepherd Association of Australia " -- the latter we understand was formally known as " The Australian United Schutzhund Clubs " are in no way affiliated with the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia.
  20. if the pups were both equal in my selection process trainability wise...i would choose the pup that returned with the article... ETA: oops just re-read question. as you are looking for train ability i would go with the pup that is showing that at a young age..eg the pup that retrieves to handler.. other factors come into consideration depending on what selection tests/process you would be using...
  21. Rusky what would you do if/when the dog associates that when it barks the person comes outside giving it a reward?
  22. i agree Tonymc, this style of training can be seen at many obedience clubs. aswell as giving the command and correction at the same time..this does nothing for the learning process of the dog.
  23. the example given was with tongue in cheek, but i dont see how you are going to be able to train a dog purely in positive methods with no adversives, how would you train a high prey drive dog that the higher reward is to stick by you and not chase its prey, either way its going to get a reward, you have to think of it as the dog see's it, i can stick by my handler and receive a reward from my handler, or i can reward myself by chasing the rabbit.
  24. so your training process would be, command - compliance - reward? or if the dog doesnt comply it would be, command - no compliance - no reward? could you imagine if the police sent a dog out offlead issued the command to leave and the dog kept going, and the officers next response would be to ignore the dog and walk away.... you cannot train a police service dog with no adversives...
