  1. They dont let the "cowboys" join...I have never known of any innapropriate persons being allowed to train at any of the AUS affiliated clubs.....so if there are its news to me. Reg Worth is a Canine Development Officer not a Police Officer, yes Bryan Vom Haus Mecki did very well overseas, but i guess i have to say that seeing as one of his pups is in my avatar .
  2. Under there classification by the FCI they are listed without having any working trial so are ineligible to enter Schutzhund trials under FCI Rules.
  3. Nobody wants to walk into the lions den. :p I think Andy’s still looking for factual information
  4. This person was probably in America. Depends who the Governing body is affiliated with; Australia is under FCI rules and regulations, so only herding/guarding breeds on there list are eligible to compete. America has a few different governing bodies and affiliates; one of their governing bodies is the DVG, which allows all breeds to compete in Schutzhund. (The dumbbell sizes and A-Frame/Hurdle sizes stay the same so this does limit the size of breeds, which can compete) Breeds eligible under FCI regulations. German Shepherd Dog, Boxer, Dobermann, Rottweiler, Giant Schnauzer, Airedale Terrier, Bouvier Des Flandres, Hovawart, Belgian Shepherd (Groendael, Malinois, Tervueren, Laekenois), Berger de Beauce, Berger de Brie, Berger Des Pyrenees A Face Rase, Berger Des Pyrenees A Museau Normal, Berger Picard, Lapinkoira, Suomenpystykorva.
  5. Just to clarify - there is no NSW legislation that covers the banning or use of prong collars. The Australian Federal Legislation? covers the importation and sale by permit holders. I think thats right anyway
  6. Sorry, I just wanted to get on your good side before Erny started spreading her lies.
  7. I think this is covered under Australia Federal Legislation?? Mr K9 Force would know.
  8. Herr Rottweiler is an extremely intelligent (and handsome) man, he will not fall for your propaganda.
  9. Hi Myszka What i was trying to get at is, instead of having e-collars outright banned as they are in NSW it would be better adopting similar rules to what they have in place in Victoria. Naturallywild
  10. Yes, if that trainer has assessed the dog and believes an e-collar would be the best tool to use in the aid of training the dog.
  11. at the moment i would be happy if people had to seek advice from either someone qualified from the NDTF or Delta ( ). I would be happy if in NSW they had similar stipulations to those placed in Victoria. The same way the sale of prong collars are, by issuing suitable people with permits. They wouldnt untill they got an assessment... at the moment in Victoria i believe you need to obtain approval from a Veterinarian and a dog trainer before you may use an e-collar, in NSW you cannot use an e-collar, so where it may be restricting some it may be opening the door for others.
  12. quote]Denis So firstly, what is thats statement based on, I mean e-collars come with an adequate video and certainly Dogtra, TT, PAC all have excellent telephone support - so what are your remarks based on? The manufacturer’s e-collar videos I have seen are extremely limited and do not offer suitable training advice for first time users. I think it is fair to say the majority of pet owners wouldn’t have a clue about proper training techniques and dog behavior, which is what, should be evaluated and understood before applying a new piece of training equipment to your dog. It would not remove them from the market it would make sure they are restricted to the sale of people who truly need them by having a qualified trainer assess there dog and the circumstances first half my post went missing *mumbles
  13. When first introducing the e-collar to any dog you should go through with steps of collar conditioning so the dog doesn’t associate the e-collar itself with the stimulation. A basic way of doing this which Mrs D has already said is to fit the e-collar a few days before you plan on applying the stimulation to your dog. This should be done with all collars not just e-collars otherwise your dogs will show avoidance to the particular training tool.
  14. leopuppy04 MrsD Correct if you properly intruduce the e-collar the dog wont get collar smart, if a dog has become collar smart it is from the handler introducing corrections too soon.
  15. I agree with cavNrott it may be best to cut ur losses with this trainer.
  16. The cost of the course is sent out in the information packs, so I would say no its not a secret. I believe the price goes up depending on how many addiotional units you choose to do?(I think thats right). If you are interested contact the NDTF and they will send you out the info including the prices.
  17. Interesting that she was able to diagnose your dog over the phone. Have you contacted any other trainers? where abouts in NSW are you?
  18. This book may be helpfull to some of you, I had a flick through it at a friends house and it seemed ok. Conquering Ring Nerves
  19. Just a few questions Did you give her a find on the normal basil first? or last? or not at all? who laid the basil cream down for her to find? With the searches of normal basil used, have you increased and decreased the amount of basil used between scenarios?
