  1. Which, may I clarify, has nothing to do with me (Pro-K9) and is a completely separate entity bearing no relationship whatsoever. I too have heard of people having difficulties in receiving their gear from there. Don't know if that was an administrational glitch or not, nor whether the service has been rectified. Sorry Erny, I was going to say they have nothing to do with your business. Good to hear, I am sure you will be impressed with the quality of his equipment.
  2. Dogquip sell and make leather muzzles, http://www.dogquip.com/ you will need to email Kurt as they do not have much info displayed on there website. Dogquip make and sell equipment to the RAAF and various state police dog units. I know a lot of people who have had problems in receiving there gear from Pro K9 Supplies. ETA: Dogquip are based in South Australia
  3. Thanks Staranais, the review was very interesting and confirmed what I thought his book might be like after reading some excerpts and his website etc. I have the book, I think it is well worth reading. I do not agree 100% with his theory on dog training but there are enough good points in the book to make it part of anyones collection. I know Tonymc has recommended the book a few times, I hope he notices this thread to give his opinion on it.
  4. Oh, how cute . Shut up ....... please :D, Jeff. I have seen the way YOUR dog takes out the garbage. Hhhhmph!!! It would be helpful if the garbage STAYED in the garbage bin!! ETA: Ok .... so who dobbed? I asked for Jeff not to be told. Staranais? He is just sorting out the recyclables from the rubbish. :D
  5. I thought you were training Mandela to do that? <sigh> ..... please don't tell Jeff Jones, but Mandela's house-work training is very slow in the making . I was drying a fry pan that I'd washed and told him that he should be able to manage a tea-towel by now. Well, he can manage a tea-towel actually, but not in the way I mean . He also seems to have the vacuuming back to front. He brings in the dirt and I vacuum it. It seems he thinks I am the one that needs to practice! So it brings me to dreaming about having a house cleaner. You amateur!
  6. Unless there is a new court case going on then no they are not, the court case is over and has been over for quite sometime. I do not know of any other movement from anyone involved with Schutzhund in Australia to get laws changed. To trial the dog needs to be pedigree, you can train with any breed of dog aslong as the club lets you.
  7. I do not think there is a Schutzhund club in Perth, you can contact dennis from Aachen kennel he would know if there was a club / training group around. http://www.aachenkennels.com/contactus.html
  8. He is one nice looking German Shep. I agree with Gipfel and Nekhbet, I have had many Belgian and German Shepherds over the years do the same thing, it is nothing to worry about.
  9. Mark would be the best person to contact
  10. Erny is correct if you email Kurt from dogquip he will send you some pictures and prices for his tugs. Kurts equipment is great and has outlasted alot of my tugs and sleeves that I have bought from Europe and the US.
  11. :p to oonga and maia for passing the BH Schutzhund examination today.
  12. I dont think Uta knows what she has gotten herself in to. How is she going to get a word in with oonga and Erny at the same seminar
  13. Aggression in Dogs by Brenda Aloff is pretty good.
  14. It looks like Micha is sniggering. So your dog likes biting leather items? I think Montu needs to receive some training from Erny, she has a whole bedroom full of leather equipment.
  15. You will probably get more reply's by asking this question in the Health / Nutrition / Grooming Subforums section
  16. I would tell them to go to Pet Resorts Australia as JenIsAwesome has suggested then.
  17. Are they after general obedience training only?
  18. To see if the dog will overcome the discomfort/distraction of having the bite sleeve attached to itself.
  19. I thought that at first too, but have a closer look ..... I could be wrong, but it didn't look as though the dog was holding the two sleeves.. If he wasn't, I'm not sure what the point of the extra sleeve was. I think the first sleeve is attached to the dogs collar/harness. You can not and will not get a reliable police service dog using purely positive training methods. I do not want my police dog to view everything as a game, there needs to be a more serious consequence involved then what purely positive training methods allow. I need my dog to act when told to, not only when he believes the command / exercise is fun. I have said this before, a police dog trained with positive methods only and no aversives is a dog that I would not have on the end of my lead. Edit for clarity.
  20. Here you go Midol, a seminar done by Bob Eden in 2007 using “purely positive” dog training methods to train police service dogs. You will not find a lot of information on purely positive police dog training as it is an ineffective method of training for police service dogs. Many Departments have found out the hard way after hiring Bob Eden to train police service dogs for them.
  21. I agree 100%. David I would not send my dog there, do a search on this forum for Guard Dog Training centre and check out everyones replys. It is the same place as petstraining.com.au.
  22. The markets is always a good place as well as football and cricket games as the majority of people are to busy shopping / watching the game to notice you are walking around with a puppy.
  23. Ok now what you need to do is, hang the chicken breast fillet from the roof with the fishing line and skyhooks to entice your dog up and on to the bench so you can catch him in the act and effectively punish him, break the VB stubbies and stick them to the bench with bluetac (just like businesses do with glass bottles on top of there brick fences in areas such as redfern) this will no doubt be uncomfortable under your dogs feet. When you dog jumps up and on to the bench you have to immediately run out of the next room banging the old newspapers against the bucket whilst you yell at you dog with a whole new bunch of swear words that you have learned from the oxford dictionary. You should have created an appropriate tripod to hold the motion detecting camera in place to catch this priceless moment so you can post the video on dol, the left handed screw driver – bucket of sparks and thumbtacks are totally unnecessary and will no doubt offend many of the purely positive dog trainers who frequent dol. There are many more great methods of dog training similar to this mentioned in the Koehler Method of Dog Training which I suggest you purchase and read. Good luck and I look forward to the video.
  24. Thanks for sharing the link it is great to see the dogs working.
