  1. Any tool should always be used in conjunction with a training program No tool should ever be used as a quick fix or as an alternative to training. How absurd!
  2. Which is why Belgian Malinois are becoming the most common used breed by Police, Military and Correctional departments around the world.
  3. I know of him, he used to run Monarch Canine.
  4. Craig Murray? I am not sure if he is near you though.
  5. Interesting interview, thanks for posting.
  6. GSDC does not welcome people who work their dogs in Schutzhund or as security dogs. Many working breeders are hence not members, especially if pp/security/military/police dogs are their bread and butter Nekhbet, the writer was not asking for dogs for Schutzhund or Security - seemed she wanted a replacement for her 3 legged family dog. There are many good breeders thru the GSDC who have good working lines. After all the stud dogs brought into australia generally have their SchIII. Working bloodlines does not necessarily mean that breeders who just breed for security. I agree Alpha Bet the GSDCA should be the first port of call, but in the past they have been complete and utterly useless to people inquiring about contacting breeders of working line German Shepherds.
  7. Both breeders mentioned above have produced some great German Shepherds that I have worked and trained with.
  8. Wheres the fun in that? It is much more fun to start a hysterical thread on DOL. ummm hello ranger.. there is a guy walking along the road with his dogs off their leads... no I don't know who he is, I don't know his address... oh hang on.. I will ask him to stay put until you arrive Yeah if you wanted the ranger to attend immediately you would need to describe the situation as you did in your posts on here. Example: Hello Ranger! There is some tough looking dumbsh!t hero strutting down the street with a pitbull and staffy without any leads on, he looks like a fool as his pants are falling down and he doesn't have a shirt on as he is showing off his tattoo's. If I was a local ranger working in the area after getting that phone call I would be out right away. Especially if there were muscles under those tatts! ummmm we seem to have different priorities.

  11. Sounds like he was going to go and buy some illegal drugs, you should of ran him over in your car!!
  12. Hey Jeff Good to 'see' you. You have been MIA? I haven't 'seen' you around in a while. Your dogs been treating you good? Sorry to OP for OT. I have been lurking in the rafters working out evil and horrible ways to.... pm sent :p
  13. That's what most of the 'balanced' trainers do (well, of those that I know). It's a given that in the teaching phase, there is no room for corrections. It is only in the training phase that corrections are introduced where they might be necessary to increase reliability where reliability is required. What is this new and mysterious method of dog training you speak of. Corvus that training method is hardly new to the states for police and military working dog programs, the states adapt there training programs from European country's. The KNPV has been running there training program for the past 100 years using those methods. As I have said numerous times before, A purely positive police dog would not be on the end of my lead nor would it be on the lead of any experienced or competent police / military working dog handler I know. Bob Eden has attempted to supply purely positive police dogs and training to departments in the United States with disastrous results. It is not an effective or reliable method of dog training for police service dogs.
  14. All are fairly good harnesses I prefer style number 2 but I don't like the plastic quick release buckle.
  15. Contact Steve Austin from http://www.petresortsaustralia.com.au/ he has a nice KNPV line malinois...and knows a little bit about dog training Steve from K9 Force has some great programs and training packages available as well. Is your dutchie from KNPV or FCI lines?
  16. Nope, I am still waiting on dolers to work out appropriate times and dates etc. I do not think everyone will go through with it but thanks to the ones who have been actively seeking out the trainers with times and dates. I know one person is booked in for January, I have been away with work for the past month or so but will chase people up over the next week.
  17. In triplicate please ..... if only. <sigh> ETA: Wonder if he reads DOL Hi Dr. Bruce Yeah, and I am the one who needs lessons on being subtle...
  18. Maybe Dr. Bruce Syme has copied North Korean President Kim Jong-il and uses body doubles at public appearances whilst he is on holidays?. Erny I would be interested in knowing the pedigree of the Malinois if you are able to mention it?
  19. Some interesting info in this thread, thanks Erny. I have not had a problem with any Malinois displaying Idiopathic aggression, I have seen some poorly bred and raised Malinois with dominance and fear aggression through.
  20. Hey Nath, not sure if you found this information in doing your research but here is a quote relating to his background.
  21. I think this is a perfect opportunity for you to show us how well your dog is trained and have him prepare a three course meal for everyone. I trust that you will have your dog at the ready with the dish cloth and tea towel, for the washing and tidying up process? :D In all seriousness though, I won't be bringing him up to Sydney. So yours will be the one who will also need to be in charge of culinary preparations I will make sure he leaves you some kibble. :D Hopefully the details for the seminar are worked out soonish as it is a pita applying for rec leave through work.
