IMy beautiful Sheltie passed away last Sunday, he was 13. I would love to have a descendant but cannot find the breeder Kendarlyn online. I have tried contacted the Sheltie club of Victoria and am waiting for a reply. Are they any other ways of tracking down his bloodlines?

Does anyone know if Kendarlyn Kennels in Mt Eliza Vic is still breeding Shelties? On Sunday my beautiful boy of 13 years I got from them passed away. I would love to have a descendant.

Kasper doesn't leave our back yard and we have floor board, so it narrows it down quite a bit...I think it's a grass allergy....Kasper seems so down almost depressed when he's on the cortisone tablets thats why I'm trying the antihytimines
-
Does anyone have a sheltie with allergies and if so what antihystermine works best? I have tried Claratyne for a week without sucess and have just started Zyrtek. I hear it is a process of elimination to find out which one works best for your dog but would like to speed up the process as Kasper has scratched all the fur off from around his eyes

I've just given Kasper 3mgs of phenergan(he weighs 10 kilos) for his allergies....i hope I've calculated thr right dose too -
We have 22 stairs and my sheltie has run up and down them for the the last 3 years since he was a pup and never had any problems, my only fear is him fallng down them as they are wooden and open tread.

Today we pulled out a suspect plant I think it's called morning glory it's a creeper with a purple flower. He eats ecopet and raw chicken bones, so don't think it's his diet, more likely a season thing as has jst started in the last few weeks. Is Zyrtek allergy tablets okay to give him?

My sheltie has itchy red eyes and bites at his paws, he had a coitersone(can't spell lol) injectioon at the vet 2 weeks ago which helped mildly but also made him put on weight and very lethargic. I really don't want him to have another injection, is there anything I can rinse his eyes out with to help with the itch?

Dog Grooming - Stripping
sheltiesrule replied to sheltiesrule's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I think I've been in Doggy Dooz before , I will ring them tomorrow. Settrlvr, Kasper is a sheltie and really feeling the heat at the moment and a friend suggested that a friend of hers with a coolie used to have him stripped in summer and it made a difference. -
Can anyone suggest a dog groomer that does stripping, I know there is one in the Hillside area but am hoping to find one closer to Williamstown

Should Shelties Be Clipped
sheltiesrule replied to sheltiesrule's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Okay my apologies I used the wrong word, when I said clipped what I actually meant was trimming the fur so it matches. By that I mean when you look at Kasper side on the fur on his body between his front legs and back legs aren't even...it looks strange. -
Should Shelties Be Clipped
sheltiesrule replied to sheltiesrule's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Kasper seems to be alot thicker at the back on his legs and you can't distinguish his tail....he hates being brushed..maybe if I took him to a hydrobath alot of his winter coat would come off. -
Reading all the clipping topics prompted me to ask if shelties should be clipped..I vaguely remember reading somewhere they shouldn't. :p

Itchy...what Should I Do
sheltiesrule replied to sheltiesrule's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks to everyone who replied...I give Kasper flaxseed oil once a week...will try him everyday....can you get polarmine and megaderm??? -
Okay my sheltie Kasper is really itchy it only happens around this time of year so I'm sure it's not his diet. Is there any medication that can help dog through this time of year?

My girlfriend whose late husband was a vet swears by garlic to keep away fleas.

Hi Shekhina My heart goes out to you my sheltie is also very thin and a troublesome eater and 5 weeks ago I finally got him eating regularly and now he's developed itchy skin and I don't know whether it's the spring season or the food can't win
-
Hi All Thanks for the advice...I am going to try him on the Sunflower oil for a few days and if I don't see any improvement I will take him to the vet
-
Hi Is someone going to help me with dosage of antihistamine?
-
My sheltie Kasper is 11 months and has just started to itch in the last few weeks...he has bitten of some fur on his legs. I'm wondering how you administer the antihistamines and which one owrks the best
-
Wow I just came online to enter this same question...but Kasper is 10 months and has just started to do this...I guess desexing is the way to go.
-
He's such a cutie...I us Aloveen on Kasper.

I agree with poodlefan some dogs just don't like other dogs. Kasper went to puppy school and hated it and eventually figured out that barking at the other puppies when they came near him made them back off. Kasper loves people though and that is the most important to us....we have tried having the neighbours dog meet up with Kasper but to no avail. You may find your puppy never takes to other dogs...I don't think it was because he was so young.
