  1. Was funny cause Ballan is about 31 kms on the melbourne side of Ballarat on the highway..... I thought there must have been a new team training here....lol.
  2. Not sure what youre going to see in Ballan........ but maybe if you travel another 30mins up the road to Ballarat you will be able to watch some flyball.....
  3. Maggie is the same as Jade. I noticed with much delight and good natured ribbing that her HANDLER was actually running her and not the other half. Maggie likes to cross some times and do laps as you would probably already know. We have been working on distraction levels and not "playing" the game. Some times she crosses over before the last jump - especially if she thinks your going to try and grab her. I also have been doing some focus work with her and trying to get her attention on me whilst training is going on. Additionally I have been watching a little of Caesar Millan and working on the red zone theory where high drive dogs go from one (normal) to ten (in overdrive) in an instant. I work on changing the tempo and focus with her before she hits 10, by stepping in and using distraction (usually a ball). The other thing with maggie is she hates that wait. So I work more on movement and activity if there is a delay in racing. This also seems to have worked. I also play a game with her at the end of the runs... our special game with the ball so she wants to bring it to me for this. Maggie has no motivation for tug toys or food. She really only has one brain cell and its green and round.... I tell you we have TRIED it all.... I dont even want to think of the different things I have tried with maggie from pillows (yes pillows) to water pistols and a whole range of other things. I made some mistakes with Maggie in her early training days. I have learnt many lessons and now that we are working on Matilda - her daughter - we have changed alot of the things we did at the start. Additionally Matilda is bigger (so not a height dog) and she is much faster. So one day soon you may see a big brindle and white boof head like maggie doing flyball. Looking forward to seeing you all down at Frankston.
  4. Yeah.... its great to catch up with people in a more relaxed environment. We even had a Berwickian staying opposite us in Port Albert. We came first in Div 4 and I am very happy with Maggie as she can often be a bit full on. We have been doing some different things in training and I reckon its paid off. Cheers.
  5. I would like to thank the Owners of the Best Friends Retreat for providing the wonderful facilities again for this comp. Shame the weather was a little bit against us. I would like to congratulate the Croydon Rockets for hosting the comp and thank you for the lovely prizes. There was some really great racing and great fun had even if a little sodgy around the edges. Good on the teams from Albury from making the journey down and for the South Australia Guys and Gals for coming over and competing I really hope you all had a wonderful time and that the trip was enjoyable and thanks for the weather.
  6. Ofcourse... as mentioned - Ballaarat Dog Obedience Club Military Drive in Victoria Park provides obedience, flyball, agility, tracking, and tricks. we also host NADAC agility at our club up to six times a year as well as hosting our own obedience, flyball, agility and tracking trials. You are more than welcome to PM me for details if required. Cheers.
  7. Jen, perhaps if you provide a copy of the costs incurred and send that with a polite request for some assistance maybe you might get some where. I would suggest that this dog was NOT JUST LET LOOSE however perhaps an ACCIDENT occured. Without all the facts or without being there I would imagine that people are jumping a little to conclusions here and should before making judgement get all of the details. I am not saying that Jen is deliberately omitting details to alter the story... however believe that there may be additional information that is not at hand right now. I personally wasnt there and I know for a FACT that the coordinator and the asst coordinator of the discipline have been attemtping to work this out. I am sad to see this has become a topic of conversation and the other person involved hasnt a chance to defend them selves. These are my opinions... and mine alone I am not speaking on behalf of any one or any club. I would encourage you Jen to resolve this with the person. If you need assistance or mediation in this matter I would imagine the club would help by way of mediation officer or president or secretary? Cheers.
