  1. I don't have any photos of my very newbie days when i used to wear DOC Martens in the ring! however this one probably tops that... at least for me i am not really into wearing short skirts however this suit fitted me well when i tried it on - pity i didn't take a photo of me wearing it before going in the ring! I think the last time i wore a skirt that short i was 15!
  2. Stonebridge was there a reason why at judges training they said you shouldn't bend over to watch movement judging?
  3. James I think is like me - a little shy, and quiet... and a little stubborn and scatterbrained too :D Ari is nothing like me... she is bold, presumptuous and thinks she is Queen of the world... Spartan is a grumpy old man so nothing like me!!
  4. Welcome RottPerth :D Enjoy the thread - it's one of a kind, us WAers are really very friendly!! P.S Oops forgot to add your dogs are gorgeous!
  5. I don't know what they dream about, but James makes the most hilarious noise when he sleeps... kind of like a throat bark that sounds like it's underwater - "flugh flugh" brilliant makes me laugh every time! I can only assume they dream about their own experiences... Ari's main actions are running, and the setters are less active in sleep just like in real life, with noise more than action
  6. Labrat - i am so very sorry to hear about your horse *hug* She was beautiful
  7. Hey Becks we were very proud! I started a thread for him after watching the live stream yesterday morning (bleary eyed I admit!) I must admit I didn't really notice the outfits, but then i haven't watched all the group judging... maybe i'll notice it more once i watch more and can pay more attention to everything not just the dogs! Becks I get that attitude, i do - but honestly there is a difference between wearing a bright outfit to get attention and wearing a nice, tidy outfit to frame your dog. The majority of people who dress at dogshows at least over here do the latter... sure you get some goudy outfits, but most of them work well for their dogs. By wearing something that is not matching, or casual, i think it draws attention in a negative way - at least in some circumstances. But again i can't really talk, i didn't notice any bad outfits because all i was looking at was the dogs (at 4.30am!) Faolmor I am so glad for Jingles . I can't wait to see him in the Gundog Group video along with this very lovely English Setter you keep telling me about!
  8. RS I am the same, except with showing and a bit of obedience... my goal was to title Ari then concentrate on Retrieving... Thing is the best thing to have is a team of people to practice with... maybe we should have a DOL team? (btw RS don't get your hopes up it's not with James - my (i think most) English setters don't really DO retrieve!)
  9. yeah - but you only have a short haired dog. Double coated breed here that needs quite a bit of fussing before a show. I show an OES and dont own a trolley... Granted once the OES is on the table they stay there, so they also don't need a crate
  10. a HUGE congratulations to you and Costas new owners GO the Aussies!
  11. 6ks a day with the weim - just walking and a bit of jogging mind you... but it keeps me fit enough.

  16. I think it's unfair to expect people to retire grands... especially ones that win a lot at a young age and obtain that title. I was up against a dog that later achieved it's grand at a young age with very few of the breed (often we were the only competition). Week after week we would lose to this dog, and occasionally, we would win. I lost sight at first of why we were losing but by the end I knew the reasons and I retired my boy early and untitled. His last show he was beaten by the same dog again but he usually beat the other dogs that rarely came out, so i saw him as a consistent RUBOB winner I have one dog that i show now... i can't have any more after her for a while. If she was a really successful bitch who loved the ring and achieved her grand, there is no way i would retire her early, because we love showing. In an ideal world, the untitled dogs would compete for points, then go up against the grands, but i just don't think we have the numbers for that type of setup.
  17. I dont think you need to be "hard" to survive the show world... i think the best thing you can do is have an open mind...
  18. Like Shelbyville, I like to think i have changed over the years of showing dogs... I've only been doing it for around 7 years... I'll admit to having a whinge about losing with my dog in the early days, but it's mostly because I didnt understand... I feel that understanding comes with time and if you are brave enough to stick it out and learn from your experiences, you are in it for the long term. those who cannot look at themselves and their behaviour, both in and outside the ring, well I just don't think they'll be the ones around in years to come.
  19. All i know is I am totally in love with the baby (and her sire and dam) that was at the classic and if Valley wasn't going to steal him I was
  20. sounds like there is going to be a heap of DOLers at tracking!!
  21. I suppose there would be a whole lot of breed factors as well... some breeds have a higher incidence of phantoms and reabsorption perhaps? would be hard to keep track.
  22. this person sounds like the biggest moron and thats putting it nicely... some people just don't deserve dogs...
  23. Jenni87 i am pretty sure the tracking motto is the younger the better - just come along with your 6 month old to the training day and find out
