  1. I match colour to dog - Weimaraner has either a greyish brown martingale or a snake chain with grey lead... we chop and change depending on her mood The blue belton/tri English Setter I used grey slip collar I bought a lovely light tan lead for my orange belton but I never really got to use it ;) OES is snake chain with extra short (but fairly thick) white lead.
  2. Thanks Mirawee Charlie is really easy to handle, but it's the pre-ring groom and after class before challenge/BOB tidy up that makes things hard. although my sister will be there to do that so maybe it'll be an option. I know where to find you if i get stuck - thank you!
  3. Exception is WA, where all pups must be registered but there is nothing to say the new owner must be given the papers... still, extremely dodgy asking so much extra for papers...
  4. yep - work here too, and boy what a SLOW day i'm having!! i'm busy, but every time i look at the clock i swear it'sgoing backwards ;) plus, it's FREEZING! found out today that they haven't had someone out to turn the thermostat up yet, so we are still on "summer" aircon It's so darn c-c-c-c-cold! thinking of my dogs at home, snoozing on the lounges! emery i'll be at Sunday's show... showing the weimaraner and the OES for the first time in a while, so watch how they clash just to make me scratch one!
  5. Pretty much what Ellz says In addition to that, I find the watered down dogs to be just as much if not more of a worry than the dogs with the correct temperament. " Bold, fearless and totally reliable " in my opinion is what makes the Stafford such a stable and enduring dog. It's those dogs with the nerve, that tolerate the kids and put up with situations that would bring many a dog undone. Water it down and you have the fear aggressive, gutless wonders, that make for ticking bombs. Put the pressure on them and they go off. Absolutely 100% agree with this statement, and could apply it to many a breed.
  6. I wish it would happen with my OH... and boy do i wish it was with an English Setter! I clicked with ES when i first saw them in a book when i was 8. We had Weimaraners so no chance getting one until i was older, as the Weimaraner was my mum's "click" breed! Whenever i saw ES (rarely) at shows, i'd be close to tears because to me they were the most beautiful breed I had ever seen, and i wanted so much to have one of my own. I got another Weimaraner after my ES boys because i knew the breed and wanted to do a little more than anEnglish Setter will permit Funnily enough, my OH appears to be more fond of the weimaraner than of the ES, so i have a feeling there will be many more in our lives! But still, I do not think he has clicked...
  7. I'm wearing baby pink to the perth royal i think
  8. I've been snobbed several times by people and it's not even a dog i own! It's no fun enduring the comments of those who think you torture dogs by showing them... and yet I return year after year to showcase a wonderful breed at the royal show! I never refer to people's dogs directly as mongrels... but as a whole I do refer to mongrels as just that... i do prefer the term mixed breed though...
  9. :) :p :p can't wait to welcome Aneira to WA!! so glad it's "out" ;)
  10. It was a while ago but a friend of my mum's had a litter of pups (small breed so 2-4 pups) then a few days later, birthed one more. all survived.
  11. i do night fill i wear a skivy, jumper and a thick thick jacket and beanie and gloves and i still freeze i swear it feels like i am in a permanent freezer and hospitals are freezing i would turn aircon up when i gave birth so it wasn't so cold nurse would turn it back down brrrr Interesting!! Whenever I have been to maternity wards at hospitals to visit they have always been toasty warm even in the warmer months! I remember thinking that i'd get really warm if i worked there rushing around all hours of the day!
  12. Agree completely. My first dog bought as a show and agility dog ended up with a bad demodectic mange, then her jaw went undershot after her teeth change and finally she developed chronic muscle problems (and her litter sister went lame a week after my girl did). She is still my bed warmer nearly 9 years later ;) I never even considered sending her back to the breeder, not that the breeder would have taken her back Me too. My "show dogs" are pets first and foremost. Their breeders are told that no matter what happens, the dogs are "keepers". I can appeciate how breeders need to move on dogs that won't contribute to their breeding programs but I'm not a breeder so I don't have that issue. I am exactly on the same wave length as you guys, my little man didnt quite make it as a show dog, wish he did cause he is amazing in so many ways, but he has stayed as a pet, he came into my life to help me grieve and he has done a wonderful job helping me move forward. I was told by many to 'send him back' or 'pet home' him (condition with his breeder is that he goes back) but I couldnt, hes weasled himself into my very soft heart same thing happened to me with my boy with HD - diagnosed at 8ish months but already established himself as my true heart dog and was forever destined to stay with me.
  13. thanks Mas - is that Murdoch Uni or a separate entity? any idea where i can find contact details? it's cold in our office in one area... and a breeze comes right through my office door I drink so much tea in winter it's not funny, because it's how i stay warm!!
  14. Guys do any of you know of any doggy day care centres that are South of the River? Not for myself we have someone in our social club looking for a recommendation.
  15. Agree with a grey - and you can get some smallish greys but depending on why size is a factor, i think a grey would suit really well.
  16. I agree mirawee - I felt warmer this morning than the last couple, and I work at Jandakot Airport!!
  17. LOL u dont know the bitch scene yet do you? Perhaps I read it all wrong or perhaps i just put more faith into my breeder than i do in people I have had little to nothing to do with, but to me it didn't make any sense. I don't know the bitch scene? I guess I don't!
  18. I don't get that - if the breeder hasn't seen the pup, the decision should be between the owner and the breeder, not every tom, dick and harry who has "assessed" the pup.
  19. All three on the lounges - the older boy sometimes in his crate (open access) not mine but the OES sleeps on the floor in the bathroom
  20. Fairly sure it's allowed I wouldn't do it personally what a horrible position to put a judge/breeder in.
  21. so I take it the breeder has assessed this pup personally and made the assessment that the pup hasn't made the grade?
  22. I don't think a GSP would suit... apart from the fact that they need to be inside probably a bit more, they ARE strong and also have a strong prey drive... Plus i think the family is looking for something a bit smaller? I can't recommend my own breeds as they aren't suitable and I haven't owned the others but most people who own the terrier types seem to think they are suitable, so i'd probably look more into the JR and the Border.
  23. Sure do SS i think it's a really pretty name
  24. I know this is a name of a dog on DOL but I always loved "Swing on a Star" i just think it's really adorable. also "pocketful of starlight" i think is cute
