  1. I have a friend who moved with her two weimaraners to a non-aqis country. To remedy being able to get back in, she moved to France for a year! Sorry i can't help you with more information... have you tried contacting Aqis direct?
  2. ncarter why do you want to lease a showdog? I take it by lease you mean that it would temporarily be in your name while you are showing it? I am not sure on the regs as I know only that you can lease a bitch for breeding, and possibly you have to have a prefix for that.
  3. LOve those shots RallyValley!! I am not biased at all when i say that James looks super gorgeous after his wash and haircut!
  4. RS I am one who thinks that leads and collars are too expensive... mine don't have bling leads or collars at all the most money i have ever spent is on a red suede collar for spartan - which i admit looked really cool! Other than that i spend my money on show leads, for which i do have too many (although my tastes are still plain!) I like the coatsaver chains RS I am not 100% sure if it's what you want but have you looked at Huga's website? click here she makes collars and leads - you could always request what you want? also not sure on price - the website won't open for me...
  5. shaar it's really trial and error with each dog and coat type... when my ES's coat was in a pretty average state from pee stains and the breakage that came with it, i found Plush Puppy Coat reviver (i can't remember the actual name - i think it has Almond in it?!) worked pretty well - but not sure if that would help with breakage from scratching... I would consider more regular baths with a conditioner - but i guess it really does depend on the cause of the scratching?
  6. Happy birthday to Lara (sorry a bit late) and Hemi! (i can't believe it's been a year!) Valley so glad Toby is doing so well! RS - Good to know about Warton Rd - i haven't been there for years but that was our regular vet before we moved... not sure if she is still there, but the groomer, who i think is now also a vet nurse used to have English SEtters - not sure if she still has one but the one she had when i knew her her husband trained as a Kadaver dog! About families of dog peple - i guess i am pretty lucky. My mum loves dogs and got me into them. My sister was always less interested until she found her own special breed, and now she is into showing! My dad likes dogs although he doesn't NEED to have one, he is looking into getting an irish wolfhound next year!! the only one who i wish was more dog crazy is my OH, who loves my dogs, but isn't as into dogs as I would like!!
  7. I have often wondered the same thing with the OES!! Even 8 week old puppies have moosh stains... there would have to be some pretty intensive washing almost constantly, or some pretty serious chemicals doing the job!!
  8. pm if you wash him often make sure you are adding a conditioner... Also sometimes an oil can help protect the coat but it really does depend on the coat. I found it didn't help with a soft silky coat of a setter, but helps a lot with the harder coat of an OES.
  9. If were no constraint, I would ideally do two long walks for the Weimaraner and medium to longer walks with my ES twice a day. With time constraints in place, however, we try to do a short morning walk with the ES and a long evening walk with the Weimaraner. With one of the setters having HD, and the other being a lazy bugger, this seems to suit them fine. In summer I have more opportunity to swim the HD dog. The weimaraner gets 4-6km walks + free run daily.
  10. Interesting topic! I have found all the shampoos can work on various breeds differently. My two ES have very different coats and very different whites... As showdog said, some dogs can gleam naturally white without a whitening shampoo. My young English Setter gleams white after a swim in the ocean (he isn't a show dog but he is kept in show clip and coat) but my older boy required the help of a whitening shampoo to help his coat look its best. So, when I was showing my Tri colour boy, i used Champion Tails shampoo and conditioner after a long time of trial and error. I never chalked or powdered before we went in the ring, just a brush and go. With the OES, I use Dazzle Dog shampoo, which is great for harder coats. It doesn't have that static that other shampoos can have when brushing the OES. Sard wonder soap does wonders (ha!) for the staining around his mouth (unavoidable in an OES). No conditioner is used. pre-ring, we use Magic Water (I like that term RSG!). If their beard is quite damp, or their feet are damp, they get potato flour to dry it out as a quick fix before going in the ring - it's brushed out as much as possible before we enter the ring. With the weimaraner, i use whatever i have! no conditioner... only prep for her before we enter the ring is the occasional rub of coat shine if it's a dull day or undercover.
  11. and your excuse for not coming training last night was....... is "i couldn't be arsed" a good excuse?!
  12. New job is great thanks!! Not so much extra busy but just can't be on here as mcuh  I barely get time to go on the PC at home as well!
  13. Royal Flush All In Running Jacks Running Hearts Texas Holdem Full Tilt Five Card Stud Black Jack Aces Full Full House and I'm pretty sure it's Ace High, not Aces High
  14. Hey Rach what is the course called that you are doing? It sounds really cool!! Congratulations on passing!!
  15. I'm totally bummed it's not for a larger breed!!
  16. I suggest you ask your breeder and/or google photos of pups at around the same age. Coated breeds to develop their coats differently at different ages, and coat lengths, thickness and quality can vary even within different lines of the same breed. I can't see your puppy photo that well in your profile but it looks pretty normal to me.
  17. Emery - Congratulations on your upcoming skin kid arrival!! Congrats to you Mas2009 you and Mason make a great team!
  18. I'd like to become a judge one day... I find that I have an interest in every breed in some way or another, and take pleasure in finding out about them, reading their history and standards to work out why they look the way they do. I look forward to being able to become a judge eventually, and the path to get there, but I'm not in any rush.
  19. awfully quiet in here today!! *echo echo echo*
  20. Thanks Mirawee I lost my last Canine News and didn't realise that Wanneroo did offer the class. I looked through all the shows for this mag and none offer it. I can see why clubs aren't offering it as there are so few entries, but I didn't know where the stand was on compulsory offering of the class and what had been decided. Be great to see your girl in the neuter class I could never enter my setter in the neuter class - that spay coat is a killer with setters
  21. Hi Bullylova!! The only dumb question is the question that is not asked Usually when clubs run an open and a champ show at the same time, it is so that people to enter both if they want to. If it's a group show (for example, a gundog club show/working dog club show/terrier club show etc) they might start the breeds at different times (so the might start with alphabetical in one show and reverse alphabetical in the other) so that it doesn't clash. if it does somehow clash, the open show will stop for the champ show, so you will not miss out if you enter both. sometimes, the Open show will start later or earlier than the champ show, again so it doesn't clash. If you check the schedule, it will say the start times, or tell you the order of the breeds. I hope that this helps!
  22. Thaks for the replies everyone I am not really sure where my friends are at regarding showing at this point - i wouldn't want them to get all excited about it, add their dogs to the neuter register and join dogswest, all for there to be no shows where the neuter class is offered.
  23. Thanks Capanash As far as you know, even if the states aren't offering the neuter class, are all the states on board with the neuter title?
