  1. Maybe a little obvious, becks, but "April Fools" ?
  2. Just realised that nearly all of us here are first timers!!! so that makes this thread probably more full of questions than usual here are Ari's belly shots... Week 1/Week2/Week 3 Week 1/Week 2/Week 3 I had no help with the photo shoots on week 1 and 3!!
  3. Ari had a couple of vomits about 2-3 weeks in... still not confirmed as you know so dont know if it was something to do with pregnancy. She is also eating a fair bit of grass!
  4. Hey all Still waiting here... Friday friday friday!! Seems so far away... she seems to be maybe getting a bit of belly and some flabbier boobs... slowed right down in her eating, and is quiet (but no longer grumpy!). The other dogs are sniffing her a lot... have read this can be a sign as they can have a different scent. I am reading way too much, and looking at her way too much... I guess I just need to take a step back and find some inner patience Irish lassy love the belly shot... Tris I agree with BB - separate them until she gets over her moods... I'll post Ari's belly shots in a mo...
  5. woodys how did you know how many to order?!
  6. you could marry a really rich, really old guy in a wheelchair like in the move Best In Show
  7. Except in WA... a breeder is required to register ALL LIVING puppies, but they are NOT required to give the papers to the new owner. I am not quite sure why this is, but it is still done. Some people withold the papers until pups are desexed etc. And... I would run a mile if a breeder told me that pups cost $X or $X+ for papers.
  8. Gosh what you offered was more than fair... Poor girl - I hope she is starting to settle now?
  9. We in WA are pretty spoiled... we have amazing grounds, a canteen which is open for most shows, and ample room to set up. All our shows are in mostly one place except for the (very) few country shows we have. What shows get my enties? - Shows with international judges, particularly if it's a Gundog specialist judging my breed or a European judging group 5 (because they are used to tails in OES) - Shows that might attract a higher entry of breeds (because i really enjoy nice long shows where I can spend some time relaxing and chatting to friends!) Usually these shows are the ones with international judges! - I love shows that hand out ribbons as prizes - the joy on a newbie face when they receive their first ribbon for their dog is priceless. Having to ask for it at the office just doesn't have the same effect! - I like having two shows in a weekend and I absolutely loved the AM/PM shows we had last year. Particularly with a coated breed, it makes it more appealing having the dog mostly ready for two shows rather than just one. I also dislike split shows if you have to come back the next day for general specials.
  10. I find all the discussion re this class or that class to me is a further indication just how much the show scene is hurting. from comments ranging from the pros and cons of all breed shows and of course the inenevitable comparisons to the specialty shows and their superior judge qualities is the greatest load of b/s I have heard. These comparisons have been around that long they have whiskers.Experience over some 27yrs. have shown me that the majority of " specialist " tragics readily use the old all breed shows to gain their titles which to me is another indication that many are only too happy to lower their standard if it means a title. I believe that all specialist clubs should be disbanded because of the damage they do to the overall dog scene. How many German Shepherd dogs' do you see at all breed shows ? How many Rottweilers do you see at all breed shows ? but check their numbers at specialist shows. Does anybody really believe that we dont' have judges here capable of judging these breeds. Look at both of these breeds and see what the so called experts have done to these once magnificent breeds. Just be greatfull for your beautiful dogs' and enjoy the days out with them,it aint' rocket science. Sorry but having a country of origin breed warden come and breed my breed for a specialty or a National specialty is certainly not hurting my breed... and it doesnt stop people from entering all Breeds either... but who wouldn't want the assessment done thoroughly by someone who is so trusted in their own country to govern what is good enough to be bred from? A lot of european judges and UK judges can't come to judge all breeds because they aren't qualified and so it leaves us with specialties. yes there are judges here that can judge our breeds but how many have a genuine interest in the breed and can see what is going on elsewhere in the world? A lot of WA people have little choice but to enter all breeds and travel across australia for specialties. it doesn't mean we value all breeds any less but that those judges truly involved in the breed are more often going to be at specialties than at all breeds... and if a breed specialist judge does judge an all breeds show you'll see that particular breeds number swell... most of the time.
  11. love the belly pics!!! Mine are thoroughly unremarkable at the moment...
  12. Tris I'll keep my fingers crossed!!! The waiting is the worst part... Piper... maybe I shoudl have written *through clenched teeth* Patiently!!! I can't stop looking and assessing her but really i just can't tell she has had a phantom every season so far so all the "signs" I keep looking for could just be the result of a phantom... However Ari, like Jazz, has been rather narky towards her housemates (she nearly took spartan's head off the other week for trying to come into the same room she was in!) which isn't like her even during a phantom. I keep thinking maybe she is getting a bit of belly now but not really sure... I need to go away for a few days and then come home to look at her - i see her too much!!
  13. chocolate applecross just had a collection... ours was unsuccessful though and we need to get it done again in April...
  14. oooh exciting murmarstaffs! I am still waiting patiently to find out... I am really not sure at this stage though...
  15. congrats skyehaven - look forward to seeing some pups from thsi combo!! will keep my fingers crossed for a nice, mid-sized litter for you.
  16. It does look like a rather quiet month!!
  17. I took the easy way out and used a website builder/host thingo. it is oh so easy to use
  18. This was going to be my suggestion too. Having others hovering around might instill a bit of competition into her, and she may want to eat it so the others can't get to it. of course it has to be done with care. My fussy boy eats in front of the glass door where he can see my other boy. The last thing you want is food aggression issues because they are under threat.
  19. I have a fussy eater. Problem solved when I took his food away the minute he walked away from it and he didn't get a meal until it was offfered next meal time. A few days without food and they soon learn to eat when you want them too. I also found that putting them where they can see the other dogs (but not be bothered by them) can help.
  20. OSoSwift I am so sorry for your very sad news Please take care and RIP little one.
