  1. same as JulesP - I am charging what the general going rate is for puppies of my breed. I have so far not had anyone say much about the price at all... but one person did ask if the price was negotiable, to which my answer was no - all puppies get the same amount of love, attention, time and all the same treatments, food etc, and therefore they all cost the same. They were happy with that answer.
  2. Hey guys Ari is getting very F-A-T!! I'll post up some belly pics tomorrow cos I just can't help myself.
  3. You definitely have to take photos tris!!! you would be bummed if you didn't and she is pregnant... Poor Marie - she's looking at your hubby like WTF?!! ha ha Ari is getting so fat!!! looking forward to putting photos up tomorrow of her 5 week belly
  4. Go with the knowledge that it is good for your puppy to get used to being away from you now and then.
  5. Spartan has done that to me before. He also does it to the other dogs constantly in order to get what he wants. they always fall for it!
  6. naw love the belly pics Ari's tonight
  7. Sorry Piper - getting ahead of myself... I didn't see a rib spring in Ari but a friend also said the same thing to me about noticing a rib spring in her bitch that was mated the same day ari was mated. I was getting all stressed thinking she hadn't taken because she had no spring but Ari is a lot bigger than her bitch. what day is she now? Things kept changing with Ari but when day 29 hit i was fairly sure, and by day 30 (same day as ultrasound) I was pretty sure. Today (day 34) there is no doubt.
  8. I'm very sorry to read that Cazzie. Hugs
  9. thanks ness - good to know she can get on the boozer nice and early on.
  10. Oh Irish Lassy i am so sorry to hear that how devastating for you
  11. Thanks Aziah! Piper good luck today!!!
  12. I use Natural Balance for my chicken allergic dog - he does very well on it. you can buy it at BP&G but if you go to the website and email the contact, they may be willing to send you a sample to try out first.
  13. ncarter thats a tough one. You could try clicker training to break the habit - if she looks forward click and treat. The problem with dogs looking up is that their gait can sometimes be compromised. you may also want to consider some show training classes...
  14. hi md I have a heat lamp for my whelping box. I haven't used it yet but you'll find some go with a heat lamp and others with heating pads. I chose a heat lamp but will soon see if it was the right choice. Do a search in breeders forum you'll find a heap on heating whelping boxes.
  15. Thanks All :D now an anxious wait to see just how big she gets. The last person who used the stud dog I used was told 5 and had 14... I'm really hoping for about 5-8 but my guess is 9 :D murmarstaffs please post photos of her coloured in!!

  17. Hi all! So ultrasound was today - all confirmed. Vet seems to think at least 5... i keep having people tell me to double it... eep!! Funny he measured the puppies and worked out their due date to be 8th May... which is way earlier than the date they were worked out to be due - 11th May... big puppies maybe?
  18. LOL! I don't think it's a record but he was pretty old!! we were quite lucky, we had fairly low drive weimaraners.... they were never left alone with the GPs but they did go outside with us when i had them on the grass. A friend of my mums lived around the corner used to have her sons guinea pigs running around lose outside, with a freaking Airdale!!! yep, he was pretty low drive for a terrier. I love hamsters - never seen one in the flesh, but my sister had one in Singapore. LOL a tortoise how cute :p My mum may have hidden a tortoise (or a turtle, can't remember) when she came from Spain to the UK when she was little :p
  19. I love a gorgeous blenheim with a lozenge Then ruby, b&t and tri i love all the same :p
  20. Rosie I once had two guinea pigs - one lived til he was 10 I also had rats, mice, fish and I had an Axlotyl named Linkin! Come to think of it he lived quite while too
  21. Um *cough* 5 dogs at the moment plus a possible litter brewing... Come May 12 we'll be back to 4 unless of course Ari goes on time and in that case we might have more by then. Only one sleep to go before ultrasound day!
  22. It took longer for Ari than any of my other dogs.. I loved her but the connection wasn't there. With James it was instant, and with Spartan, it came quickly. Now, though, we have a different connection than any of my other dogs. She's silly and a bitch of a dog at times, but I do love her very much. when I put her on a plane a few weeks back for her romantic holiday, I actually cried when I got in the car, as she had never been away from me before... it's moments like those where you realise the connection really is there, it's just not as in your face as dogs where there is an instant, incredibly special connection.
