yay, I entered the Royal!!

Trixie!!! I forgot about James' birthday - he was not at home at the time and I felt so bad after.

Those pics are awesome CC!! When Zora came to my house she only had two speeds, fast and faster - if she slept I missed it! RV we should really get some photos of Zora and Lulu together before Lulu gets bigger than Zora Very exciting about all the puppies happening in the thread Mas the fact that Mason is ignoring is a really good sign - he's not stressed and is doing something completely natural Well I was very strong on the weekend when the last two pups left home I only got a little teary with the first pup that left, but such wonderful owners for all of them made the process that much easier I didn't even expect to cope as well as I did!

Ptolomy that sux about the break in - what chumps I do hope that despite them getting away with the purse and bag, they might have the brains not to try to break into kennel zone houses again. it always scares me that harm would come to my dogs if someone ever broke in so I am very glad that all of yours are ok. Last puppy leaves today at 12 pm... I think i'll be a bit sad since he is the last to go, but I haven't cried once so far so I think that I should cope just fine!!

In Weimaraners we have seen a connection between giving a C5 at an early age and autoimmune response. This is a breed prone to immune issues, but it highlights the point that there are obviously issues which could affect other breeds. All weimaraner breeders recommend C3 and KC separately 2 weeks later if desired.

 Great news Ptolomy, does this mean a potential for little toller pups in the future Totally not dog related but we've been hunting for a small second car for me to use for commuting, and somehow ended up buying a Mini Cooper last night :D Hopefully I can pick it up next week - I can't wait CC! A REAL Mini Cooper or a BMW? ;) nothing beats the noise of a real mini !! I used to drive a bright yellow one when I first started driving - i had to upgrade though when I got spartan ;)
-
that'd be great Mas we can tee up a time between us at some stage. I've got puppy buyers coming all this week and weekend so it'll have to be in a week or two or after their shots if we go to a park

No it doesn't. I agree with this.....as a relative newbie viewing breeders in my breed who have some very interesting ideas about what a good specimen on the breed is, I often wonder if they are the best people to judging as a specialist. It's an interesting (and off-topic) conumdrum - is a breeder of a particular breed who may have some pre-defined preferences, the best person to objectively judge at specialty level or would it be better to have a judge involved in a very far removed breed judging at a specialty, using the standard as their guide and perhaps not having the pre-defined bias? I'm not saying I'm right or that either option is the best resolution but it's something that's crossed my mind - I'd be interested to see what others (especially the more experienced campaigners or the judges themselves) think? Conzstruct I agree - we had a specialty on the weekend and had a last minute change of judge. The judge who judged was not in the breed she was judging. She was, however, excellent. she went over the dogs extremely well. She still showed her preferences which were fine, but clearly went over every dog, comparing it to the standard. I had this same discussion with someone else that it isn't always a bad thing that the judge isn't exactly in the breed, as they go into judging of said breed with full understanding of the standard, and don't allow too much of their own opinions about preferences get in the way.

piper i hope that you find a home for him soon and the girl you want in a performance home. My first pup is going tonight... he is my standout favourite of the litter and i didn't want to face him going first, but he is best off in this home so that is where he will go... I'm sad...

I on the other hand HAVE seen a judge refuse challenge, and yes it was group 5. I have also seen a whole lineup of males from a particular breed refused challenge, once again group 5. It definitely does happen. I too have seen dogs refused challenge in Group 5. If it is specialty shows you attend that you have not seen a challenge refused, perhaps you need to question whether the judges that are being selected are fit for the judging post? Perhaps the nature of a specialty which pressures judges to award all places? maybe we should get rid of specialties :p it would not be the place of anyone to make assumptions on peoples personal circumstances, by saying that they must attend a specialty to get a champion. it could even be seen as discrimination on some levels. To say you know people that have travelled interstate from perth and other states, so it can't be that hard, is, quite frankly, so one-eyed i almost can't believe that it was written. What if part of gaining a title was that people must attend an all breeds show, but some people only enter specialty shows? i am sure that people would be unhappy with that also. Who is to say a specialty is better than an all breeds show?

Just saw this - I'm so sorry for your loss Jules... RIP Brock... I hope that the girls can help you through this.

I cannot wait to meet her properly. She looks as though she has as much spunk as my lot it must be so nice having a white, hairy puppy

Pedigree Dog Segment On The 7pm Project
SparkyTansy replied to huski's topic in General Dog Discussion
One thing that I would like to highlight is that once again, no one from the ANKC was there to stand up for us. We are targeted because we are small and there is no one to fight for us, and everyone knows it. -
I'd offer too but I have to go to the OES champ show... sorry hun!!
-
Poor buddy I am so sorry to hear that rach... I hope that Buddy recovers quickly. I know how stressful it can be RnH how exciting your trip to singapore! I adore orange roan cockers!! RS i don't stress so much about my dogs so much now that they are inside... my biggest fear, always, was baiting or theft...i am less worried now that they are inside all the time. The only time it gets hard is when Ari is about to come into season and for some reason loses the control of her bladder!! I had an empty block behind me when my dogs used to be outside which always worried me.
-
I will also match My pups are not 8 weeks yet and it was made clear from the beginning that they won't know which puppy is theirs until we have done the final assessment. I am sure it is a little frustrating for them, but I am sure in the end they will all be happy with what they get. I always am - I have hever had a choice!
