Retrieving & Field Training Talk

Lulu has become obsessed with retrieving only the dummy, which is a good thing, however she will not pick it up off land if it has dirt on it (she is so like her mother)... so to pick it up she finds either the rope or she picks up the end and shakes it to remove said dirt... What would you do to train her out of this? -

WEll done TSD on a good training session!!! You must be so pleased!!! Love that pic of her sprawled out on the chair!! So ladylike!! -
Oh dear Mirawee... so sorry I hope they figure out what is wrong with Varda.

The Weim club of WA does a calendar each year for rescue.

So very sorry Loraine - thinking of you today.

RnR Ben looks fantastic! Saw a stunning Rotty today at the beach also - completely ripped with muscle and a beautiful shiny coat. RV Toby looks fab, but you know that. You also know better than to listen to someone who thinks trimming hair is cruel... I suppose, having a Lab x poodle, they kept it long til it got matted or something? Do they not cut their own hair or is that also cruel? Poor, poor dead hair!!! I went to the beach today with my friend and her Beagle. It was his first time at the beach and he did really well!! He isn't a typical Beagle, my friend can let him off the lead and he just plods along!! All he seems interested in is having a bit of a wander and then making himself welcome in other people's groups. Several times we thought he had chosen a new family to hang with!! Meanwhile, Lulu just obsessed over the dummy, and she also refused to retrieve a ball and only wanted the dummy - I can't say I am disappointed about that!! Lulu also had no issue with scooters, bikes and a little motorbike thing that went past her today RosieFT sorry to hear about the limping again. I too have an appointment on the 30th!!

Happy Christmas everyone!! Boxagirl I am very sorry to read about Bondi's results.... how very awful for you but just amazing how Bondi has fought her way through it up to this point. So last year we were given a turkey which sat in the freezer for 12 months... so on Christmas eve I defrosted it and gave it to the dogs on Christmas day. They each got a 1/4 although Ari left hers so Lulu had close to half . Spartan buried his and dug it up later to finish it off. I had word that James got spoiled too, he had ice cream which I am sure he enjoyed!!!

You could go to Como Pier i think its the longest pier into the Swan River!
-
Hope it goes well for you and Bondi tomorrow and you get some answers BG

I think it depends... I would prefer a puppy being a puppy in Minor and having fun, and if there are judges that expect more of a puppy of that age, I say too bad i think probably by late puppy class and by junior, you should have your pup fairly well behaved.

Poor pups Sheena!! how could you cover up their mud-wrestle area? Have you tried tracking your parcel?

Right - who can't do Sunday 8th January? Is a Sunday better? 8.30am until whenever it gets too hot? If the weather forecast is looking too warm we could put a post in here to advise who isnt coming. -
What Breeds / X-breeds Show Up In Shelters?
SparkyTansy replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
I too would love to implement breeder contact on chipping details. 4/5 puppies I placed from my last litter I managed to convince them to make me their second contact. Unfortunately for us we have seen a higher than normal number of Weimaraners come through our rescue, and probably in the last two years, 4 of them have been from the pound. A great many who surrender their weims to our club rescue call us as a last resort before the pound -

Did you go to the 'seaweed beach' further south towards Waikiki? There is a big variation in the quality of beaches, with Rockingham foreshore and safety bay being very narrow beaches, but there are much nicer ones in the area I haven't been to Kwinana beach myself yet, but I might check it out next week (wooo holidays!) (E: quality also varies considerably depending on the time of year) yes, and time of day. If I am thinking correctly, you might have gone to the beach further north? There are some very average beaches further up. if you googlemap, the meeting spot/parking area for the beach I am talking about is right near Governor Road, on Rockingham Beach Road, just south of the Grain Terminal. Sure, it doesn't look that attractive surrounded by Kwinana's finest industrial monstrosities, but the beach itself has clear water and clean sand. the park has gazebos, bbqs and a toilet block and is well maintained. If you've seen any of my photos with my girls at the beach that is the same beach. -
*squeak* got my email saying that my package was posted yesterday!!! means hopefully it will be here when our office reopens

Fantastic photos TSD and a lovely one of the working springers FHRP! I have a video to share later on, as Lulu, Ari, and RV's Zora and Toby got together at the river and we did some water work. Lulu has gone from waiting beside the water for Ari to come back so she can steal from her, to running in ahead of Ari to get the item. Zora was a little less enthused this time around but we think there are other explanations for that. -
all of the items of food GG - she ordered stuff in packets even though I said she's risking them being removed.
-
my friend who got the food items had a big orange AQIS sticker and paperwork inside her box from AQIS.

I don't get sleep ins anymore... it's a part I miss most about having just the lazy setters... The weims wake up at 5ish... They sleep plenty during the day but I'm already up

why dogless AP? Lulu wants to meet Trixie I'll only be bringing Lulu - she's a social monkey and i dont have to worry too much about her. Ari is too protective and James is a pee monster with selective hearing. Spartan is antisocial! I've only ever had a couple of issues at Kwinana - the last one was when lulu was a small puppy, and she ran up to a couple walking on the beach and the guy yelled at me to get her away from them and then proceeded to try and kick her Tiggy I'm sure Bear will be fine? if he's good with other dogs you should come. -
especially your scrawny ones AP - they have no meat on them at all!!
