  1. Love the corded poodles!! does anyone know if it is harder to win with a corded vs traditional haircut in the show ring today?
  2. my sweet baby went through the same thing... he was very good as a baby, went through an evil puppy phase and came out of it unscathed amazingly enough, at about 14 months.
  3. RS - it's likely you will see some... Shows coming up: All breeds Champ show - 16 Jan - start time 6pm Allbreeds Champ Show - 23 Jan - Start time 6.30pm All breedsChamp show - 24 Jan - Start time 6.30pm All breeds champ show - 30 Jan - Start time 6pm and - Western Classic Group 5 (Aussies) will be Saturday 27 Feb 6pm Sunday 28 Feb 6pm (English Setters will be on the same days too btw )
  4. English SEtter has changed very little in the UK... apparently they are a lot smaller than they should be though... They, and the Irish Setter look decidedly different in the states... The OES, apart from coat preparation and maybe a little bit general coat, remains fairly unchanged. The GSP looked very similar today, yet it was hard to tell with the Weimaraner, as they didn't manage to obtain a photo (probably cos the first weim didn't make it out of Germany until after WWII. Bull Terrier was interesting... i notice in the description that there is no mention of the curved shape so desireable today...
  5. ooooh huuuuuge congratulations TeamSnag!! Well done
  6. WHAT FANTASTIC NEWS to read!!!! ;) i am so glad for you that Grover is back to his normal dopey self... a great way to end 2009
  7. LOL at the screaming... brings back memories of when we first got our Jenny girl (now at the bridge)... touched her ears once (and i mean brushed past) and she let out the most awful scream!! ears were a no go zone after that... When we got Jenny she had a small graze on her muzzle where she put her nose through a gap in the fence a little too enthusiastically... it healed but never disappeared.
  8. will she be wearing the collar all the time, or just on walks/beach trips? My sister has an Old English Sheepdog in full coat with a white neck/chest... she uses a normal flat collar on him and it hasn't caused any issues, however he never wears a collar at home. also worn it at the beach and in water/sand and again no issues provided he was rinsed and brushed afterwards. ETA - he mostly doesn't pull on his lead, though, so not sure if this minimises damage around the area.
  9. I don't take my dogs to anyones house unless they specifically say it's ok or ask me to bring them... the exception is my mum, and i always take Ari with me, and when my sister was living here, her house, again with Ari and sometimes James. I have the same issue with future MIL, who brings her two small dogs with her unannounced... one of them is ok and well behaved, but the other is incredibly dog aggressive and overly protective of the other... in fact it isnt just dog aggressive but also occasionally people aggressive i am sure it has some kind of mental issue as it has been that way since a pup. Anyhoo last time she brought them while i was at a show - came home with all the dogs to walk in and find them inside, on their own... Ari went ballistic and the evil one attacked her. Little girl got in the way and ended up injured and now my dog is the aggressive one still, if this stops her bringing them again all the better... the male has attacked my two boys before and it didn't stop her bringing them cos, as we all know, when a small dog attacks a big one, it's cute. :D evil little thing also left me a toy sized package to clean up after it left as well ;)
  10. maggots make my skin crawl... nothing else can do that like maggots can...
  11. My thoughts are with Trisvens family and Grover and they will be in the hope that positive thoughts will help poor grover through this...
  12. plain black metal crate like SBTs - mine is minus any kind of tray as Ari destroyed it when she was a pup... kind of wish i had got one with a metal tray instead!!
  13. if it makes you feel any better i am procrastinating about doing a 4 hour brush on an Old English Sheepdog... i can think of what breeds i'd rather do.
  14. oh no trish i hope that things improve again soon... what a worry it must be - particularly the NOT knowing...
  15. agree!! although i am not outside today... I am at least grateful that i am inside in lovely air con even if it is AT WORK!!
  16. Thornliegirl have you considered heading down to Kwinana Dog Beach? it is a lot quieter but it generally is pretty flat, the sand is beautiful and clean and it is a lot closer to you!! I lived in Thornlie growing up and we used to go to Kwinana all the time.
  17. CY O'Connor Beach Ange... although yesterday it was flat, but the week before it wasn't. Luckily Ari enjoys swimming over the waves to retrieve. Max was paddling that day, but didn't get much further in than Sorrell did.
  18. It's a shame you are North Ange! I went to my local beach (because Kwinana Beach Rd was closed!) and the water was soooooo flat, beautifully warm water and was shallow for a good few meters before it got to paddle depth. James took about 15 minutes before he remembered he knew how to swim!! Sorry can't help you with the Hillary's Q tho.
  19. -GET to the Weimaraner Nationals in Adelaide -Work on Ari so she can compete for her obedience title AT the national and then complete CCD -Train for Endurance title (Me, not her!)
  20. Relax... They will be fine... Bubby hasn't returned from them a "different dog"right? So I am sure you won't have to worry about bit-bit... Personally I think that dogs having holidays away from us does them the world of good, particularly as youngsters. So long as you know they are going to be well taken care of, I wouldn't worry at all.
  21. Daydreamer there are several show handling classes for all ages at the canine centre check out the website. I am not sure but they might be winding down for the year... uuuuuh not sure on the BIS resutls lab rat sorry!! I did title Ari my Weimaraner though!!
  22. hey guys - thanks so much... i have been offline mostly over the weekend but thanks so much for those who have messaged back. I will PM you for numbers etc...
