How Did Your Pet Get Its Name?
SparkyTansy replied to crazyboutdogz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Spartan = SPARky and TANsy our previous two dogs that passed a couple of years before. Registered name was a theme of China (dishes, not the country) and his first pick was Royal Doulton but we didn't get that, so he got Lladro instead. James - OH and I loved this name and he was a long wait, and we used to keep telling spartan that Baby James was coming to live with us. His registered name sort of followed a theme of Gold or Hammer - we couldnt think of much that hadn't already been picked, and OH was into poker at the time, so his name "Aces Gold" came about. Ariane (shortened Ari) was in a pet name book, was of german origin, and apparently means "silvery" not sure how much of it is true, but it fit well! Registered name "Underline Me" she was a U litter and "underline me" was sort of like yep I pick that one. -
i know!! hey does anyone know what time on Friday night we'd be allowed to set up, or IF we are allowed to set up, our gazebo things if we have them, if we are showing on Saturday night? I haven't set up in advance before but given the amount of people there and the fact that i need to see what's going on in a ring on the opposite side of the oval, it might pay to set up early...

Thanks ValleyCBR! I am assuming that the right hand side is closest to ranford road.

the OES isn't great in the heat, but put your head on his body and he is cool despite it being hot... the coat does act as an insulator dammit!! i can't remember if it was on the numbers sheet or not, but are group 3 and 5 close to one another?
-
yes black dogs and heavily coated dogs alike... min 24s all week as well... so the conditions won't improve at night, except for the lack of sun. Mirawee at least you can get it out of the way early and let him relax - does he have a cool coat you can put on him before/after? he'll be completely rested up for group specials.

Cavalier Sold To Pets Paradise By A Registered Breeder
SparkyTansy replied to sugar's topic in In The News
surely, if PP weren't using this as a marketing ploy they could have got the money back from the original breeder? the fact that they havent done this shows that they are more interested in pensioners donations and getting people to the store... also, COST price I can't see how it can be up to $10,000... unless the vet is charging their time as part of it? -
RIP Daddy - a lovely boy

CnR I love that gorgeous Chi ;)

Yes, you should have gotten a number to wear while showing your dog... did you only get the list of breeds and numbers for each? ST, do you put both names on the envelope? That is what I do since Banjo is in joint names with his co-owner being his breeder from NSW. So I put all three names that are owners of our dogs on the envelope and have never had an issue with any show except the Royal. Mira yep i put both names on the envelope... I also am pretty sure i included a note with it asking both sets of numbers to be put into the same envelope... I got my numbers though and only two numbers which i am assuming are for the Weim (400s), the catalogue slip and the numbers... its ok though no big deal i will pick them up when i get there. Funny thing is on the back of the envelope they had written group 3 1 1 and group 5 1 1 so they knew to put them in so must have been a little brain fart at the end. I dont mind though they have so much to organise!!

valley it'll give you a chance to see what babies you'll be up against the following week

Valley we'll be there on Friday with Char the OES and Saturday with Ari the Weimaraner...
-
of mine/family dogs.. Ari was a natural from day one - now will swim out far to retreive Spartan - hated it from the first day, and will only paddle in the sea if he has to James - another natural, he probably loves water most out of them all... he is an excellent swimmer, and sometimes will just stand in his bucket of water! Sorrel (my mums wei) is another vertical swimmer, and funnily enough, our other two weis sparky and tansy were as well. They would still swim though, as unco as they were at it, to get the ball. Sorrell might paddle a bit, but as soon as she has to swim she will try to swim for me then cling to me with her scary nails!! Charlie the OES is a great swimmer, and will happily go in paddling around... the hardest thing for him though is that he has to work a bit harder due to his full coat. Getting out is the hard part!
-
i suppose the difference is there are a lot that will travel with horses to a good horse beach but they cant count those numbers like they can registered dog owners in the area... in saying that i guess there are people that will travel to Hillarys dog beach also?
-
anyone showing this friday/saturday? We'll be there both days I am a bit excited its been a few months since Charlie has been in the ring and i have spent the last few weeks working his coat back to show condition and he is looking pretty good! Ari looks the same as normal - it takes the fun out of it when their coat looks the same! She did hurt her foot last night so i am hoping that is healed by the weekend... she grazed it chasing a rabbit and stumbling over a bush onto the road
-
If someone offered me a ticket to crufts tomorrow I'd probably die from excitement... needless to say that is my "dream show"... i think the biggest problem would be choosing which breed to watch since all my fave breeds would be on Gundog day...
-
oh the OES isn't in my name but I do the entry for it (presigned form)... I always enclose one envelope and the last couple of times I had half my numbers returned for just my dog an the others were at the show!! It's not a big deal really!
-
none for me yet... hopefully i'll get them all in one envelope
-
It was a long long time ago but my mum did the same thing with our litter from what i remember... at 6 weeks if not earlier (can't remember ) they would eat their meal and then straight outside for toilets. Bitch we kept had the same routine and remained toilet trained. Uncle took on one of the other babies and he was also toilet trained with little effort from them.
-
RosieFT it would make him more predisposed initially to want to roam, but after being desexed it's hit and miss as to whether this would change... even so, perhaps you could tell the owners that it is possible he might stop wanting to roam if he was desexed... say there are no guarentees but it mightjust help!

I watched the Puli vid... was suprised to see only two Pulik there? surely more were eligible? was there another part of the judging i missed? I watched the OES too - some lovely moving dogs... overtrimmed, but lovely
