Lure Coursing..... What Is It
roxy's mum replied to joho's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Absolutely.... as the others have said we all do Lure Coursing at KCC Park. It's fully fenced and the dogs just love it. Roxy goes nuts when we get there and she spends the entire time waiting for her turn either shaking, barking or lunging for the gate. They just manage to pick it up and just know what to do!!!! It's an amazing experience to watch your dog in full flight like that! If you go to the Ridgeback Club website you can add yourself to their mailing list and they will notify you of their next event. I just wish it was more of a comp like in Qld..... Aw well!!!! BTW - Would love to see lots of boxers there next time!!! -
Glad everyone had a great time!! We only stayed for 2 runs, it was just way too wet and cold.... suprised we even lasted that long!!! Thank god Rox didn't slash her paws this time. Last time Lure was on she slashed them open.... so needless to say she was having warm salty baths for a few days. The line completely took the surface layers off her 2 top paws, very scary and quite a bit of blood!!!! But healed remarkably well, thank god!!! Anyway, can't wait till next Lure Coursing!!!

Hi there, Your pup is gorgeous!!! I would certainly be contacting Steve @ K9 Force http://www.k9force.net/index.html?row2col2=mart.html His martinagle's are just wonderful! He fitted one for Rox when he was in Melbourne, and the quality is outstanding!!! Not sure if I would leave it on 24/7 though, I think it would fall under the same category as a correction collar.... I would be way too scared she would catch it on something.

I just bought the Golf Cleaning Dremel, just have to go to Bunnings now and get the drum sander, etc. I looked on the Dremel USA website and they actually have a model that is specifically made for dogs nails..... but, only available in the US. After looking at the specs though it appears to be exactly the same (apart from the colour and attchments) to the Golf Cleaning tool.... woo hoo, can't wait!!!!

I think that's a great idea to run the higher classes earlier. Also I really think that people shouldn't be encouraged to go off lead quite so early. Before Christmas I was in class and half the class were encouraged to go offlead by the instructor... it turned into chaos, with the dogs all running off. This is a very scary situation for all involved, including those of us that were on-lead and have dogs that don't cope too well with off-lead dogs charging around them!!!

Oh my gosh.... glad to hear she's ok!!!! How did she cope after surgery?

K9 Seminar, Lysterfield, 18/11

Hi all, The little red dog was my Miss Roxy. She is a Boxer cross Lab. She seemed to behave herself quite well, until she decided she didn't like the Akita..... but very well behaved up until then!!! She does get bored though when she's made to sit or drop like that. But was great when we were outside. She doesn't seem to have any issues with other dogs... but on the odd occasion we have seen a bit of snappy-ness when she's put face to face with them, but other than that she's not too bad!!! Bec..... -

Oh bugger, hope it's ok for you. I don't have a crate, was hoping to get one before tomorrow but didn't have any luck. Don't suppose anyone has a spare one? -

K9 Force Seminar On Behavioural Problems
roxy's mum replied to RealityBites's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks Steve..... I have emailed you!!! -
Cool about training.... not so good about no-one practicing though!!! I think the problem being that it was beginners. I know from my own previous experience it's very hard to stay motivated with a beginners dog. It's a vicious cycle, ie: can't get motivated because the signs of improvement aren't immediately obvious...... whereby persistence should be the key to see those signs of improvement!!!!!
