I liked the winning image this week, I think they chose well. I also did laugh at the fact that a 5d mkII was shown twice on TV last night.. after this show finished I flicked over to Hamish and Andy Gap Year and there was Hamish shooting with one lol.
-
I'll also be there pre-show set up and post show too.... hoping to get some amazing shots from it!! The thing that has me bummed at the moment is my laptop is fried Which means I can't edit photo's until it's back from the PC doctor and I get Lightroom back on it etc... grr nothings easy I swear lol!!

Oh wow, thanks Kirislin... I had no idea about that. I better keep an eye out for them. I am so excited, it's a great opportunity and I feel very lucky at this point. Next Sunday will be D-day!!!
-
Rubiton - I am actually super lucky and will be at the gig for the entire show. I have full venue access :) Beyond excited about it actually. Your right though, it's usually a case of a couple of songs only and then your outta there!!

I will be shooting a relatively large international act next month and I'm super excited. I actually contacted the band on Twitter and they responded with a 'yes' to a photopass. I think sometimes in life you just have to ask. I will be shooting with my 17-50 2.8 and 35mm 1.8. I have shot bands at smaller venues before, but this will be my first time shooting at a larger venue with full lights etc. I will be shooting from in front of the crowd barrier. My understanding for this band with be no flash. Thats fine by me though. All I can is... wish me luck. I will be dodging croud surfing and a very full on band. Eek!! Very excited though as they are one of my favourite bands :)

Nope, no box here yet.... can't wait though!!

Great photos everyone!! Here is my entry Photo5 Entry
-
After hours of trying this morning, with nothing but the site crashing time and time again, I decided to try Google Chrome on advise from the Canon Facebook page..... and it worked!!!! I'm getting a box, wooooohooooo!! I was so frustrated and angry yesterday and now again this morning. I just don't know why they couldn't get this right. It was supposed to open yesterday after all. And I really do think a lot of people will miss out because of this. Keep in mind that a ton of boxes would have already been allocated to the people who entered last year, so for the rest of us I really think it's super limited numbers available.
-
Ok, so who has their first photo ready for upload today? All those hoping for a box, that didn't get one last year would need to upload today I'm assuming to secure a box. Anyone know what time the site opens for submissions?

Ahhh, I'm so excited!! I ordered a Jo Totes Camera Bag from here: http://jototes.com/index.html Can't wait for it to arrive. I was basically sick of carrying around multiple bags, my handbag, toddler backpack and of course my Crumpler camera bag. So now I will just have this with my camera body and an extra lens and flash and personal stuff in it as well (purse, keys iphone etc). This way I can take my camera everywhere and not have to worry about changing bags around. This is the actual bag I bought: http://jototes.com/handbags/betsy-black Pretty reasonably priced and $35 for postage, came to $144 all up. Will put up some photo's when it arrives!!

Hahaha, interesting info from the T & C's on the photo5 site, should give everyone a rough idea of the briefs... obviously this will also be dependant on whats in the box but its a good starting point: 5. Upload Process (a) The “Upload Period” means the period commencing on 05/09/2011 and concludes at i. EOS Photo5 Brief 5 (Panning Brief): 13/10/2011 at 12 noon. ii. EOS Photo5 Brief 2 (Macro Brief): 17/10/2011 at 12 noon. iii. EOS Photo5 Brief 3 (Low Light Brief): 19/10/2011 at 12 noon. iv. EOS Photo5 Brief 4 (Fast Shutter Brief): 21/10/2011 at 12 noon. v. EOS Photo5 Brief 1 (Open Brief): 24/10/2011 at 12 noon. http://canon.com.au/en-AU/worldofeos/termsandconditions

Katie - I think you did really well with the conditions. I don't think you could have adjusted your settings any differently. Your camera should be fine at ISO 1600, I think were all a little afraid of 'noise', but at the end of the day I would rather get the shot and have a little noise than not get the shot at all. I think back to my film days at uni, and 'film grain' was part and parcel of the process.... and if all else fails, convert to black and white! Wonderful set of photographs and I felt like I was really there!! Just lovely!!!

So, has anyone starting taking photo's yet? I certainly havent, as I'm struggling a bit for inspiration

So, it looks like the Canon Photo5 comp is up on their website. Little confused though as no email has been sent out. Looks to be a little different this year in regards to whom receives the box. Have a read, would love to see what everyone thinks about it. http://canon.com.au/en-au/worldofeos/photo5/home Bec

I Want To Insure My Gear...where To?
roxy's mum replied to redangel's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Mine is under my home and contents insurance as an added extra. I had to list all the equiptment individually with serial numbers and replacement prices. This did add $$ to the previous policy, but I think this is so important for such expensive gear. This covers me inside and outside the home (aus wide) and even for accidental breakage etc. -
Ahhh, sooo confused!! Too many choices. Anyway, I was doing some reading and someone had said that since the 35mm is a DX format lens it's the equivalent of a 50mm in the focal length. Is this correct? What I'm looking for is something to take photo's of my son, at home. So more than likely indoors. Hope this helps.

I think the 85mm afs is way out of my budget at the moment. Would love the 50mm afs, but it's still quite exxy.... grrrr, stupid need for afs!!
-
The 85mm was also on my radar. What prices would you except for the mentioned lenses. Don't forget I need to look at an AF-S lens.
-
Hi all, So I'm after a portrait lens. I have the Nikon d3100 and would like the new lens to auto focus, therefore I need an AF-S lens... correct me if I'm wrong?? Anyway, would love a 50mm, but what about a 35mm? Would love some recommendations on this. Thanks all.

Yep, my Crumpler is Blue and Orange as well. Soooo well made and so light to carry, which was a real suprise for me. Huga - if you make a bag similar to that Etsy one I'll be interested for sure!! Let us all know how you go.
-
I just got a Crumpler bag. It's called the '5 million dollar home'.... and I adore it! It's so functional and yet good to look at also. Well worth checking them out.

Lure Coursing - Kcc Park Vic - Sun 7 Sep
roxy's mum replied to PossumCorner's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Another great day at Lure Coursing!!! We had a ball. A friend and her stafford came along, and didn't he have a ball! This is a lump of a stafford who doesn't get exciting about much, except for cuddles, and as soon as we got out of the car he stared doing the stafford scream.... which we'd never heard him do before. He loved the lure and chased it like a mad-man.... it was fantastic!!!! -
