benelox is great. also add glucosamine and chondroiten to meals. Also learn to gently exercise the joints as this is necassary to get the glucosamine into the joints. -
Dan, Glad all went well. Have emailed you some groups for people whose pets have cancer. Also mentions holistic vet in Sydney but can send you contact details for reputable holistic vet in Perth if you would like. Immune system support is IMHO vital for the best possuble outcome.

Nicky's Having An Eye Removed
dogbesotted replied to hopenfox's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Delighted to hear Nicky is home! I think you will be surprised at how quickly he heals up....and when the fur grows back which happens rapidly he will have a cheeky wink! -
In my experience a very smelly dog has issues going on....I would be looking at what he is fed, plus maybe add some probiotics and digestive enzymes to his diet, apple cider vinegar, salmon oil etc.

What Every Dog Owner Fears

There is nothing quite like the total fear that diagnosis put into your soul. It would be well worth consulting with a reputable holistic vet for support for Jenna. Jenna is in my prayers. -
Ollie Dog - Mast Cell Tumour

staffyluv, Actually Ollies incision site looks quite good...Lucindas was 15cm by 12 cm from the top of her chest down to almost the bottom of her ribs. By day two the area surrounding the site was burning hot, red and inflamed and she was rapidly getting weak. Ollies surrounding area looks good...no nasty histamines being pumped out so that is GOOD, GOOD, GOOD. Keeping you all in my heart and prayers -
God Bless the bullies and their skin problems LOL a few questions: 1. what is your pup fed? 2. do you keep your grass well mown? If you can prevent the grass going to seed it does help.

Severe Flea Allergy Dermatitis
dogbesotted replied to leah_da_legendWOTWOT's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
allergies are such a trial for both dog and owner. I would be looking at adding more omega oils to the diet..canned mackeral in oil, tuna in olive oil, sardines. sunflower oil ( has both omega 3 and 6), also look at zinc, biotin, vit A C & E and selenium . evening primrose oil is antiinflamatory and correct omega 6 fatty acid deficiency. Severe scratching can be helped with an oatmeal bath. Put 1/2 to 1 cup oatmeal into a sock or stocking and squeeze into tepid water. The water should go a milky colour. Soak your dog for 10 mins for soothing the skin and calming the rash. Three drops of lavender oil can be added to the water. Rinse thoroughly in luke warm water and allow to dry. you can also use peppermint ( mentha piperita) as it is analgesic, antifungal antiprutitic and antibacterial. Suitable as infusion when there is intense scratching- you can either make peppermint tea, cool it and apply as a final rinse. ( Iused to put it in a spray bottle to use on my Jake) -

Glad Ollie is home. It can be scary when they come back from MCT surgery. Lucinda seemed to have half her chest missing. I was so shocked and appalled, and felt I had made a dreadfull mistake. The art with MCT is to get the best margins possible and that many vets are too conservative with the surgery. Lucinda was scheduled for a second attempt to get clean margins but was too ill....for which I ma gratefull as I do not think she would have survived that. You may like to add some of the following supps: vit C ( with bioflavinoids) to bowel tolerance salmon oil..approx 2000mg daily -

Just to let you know my girl Lucinda is a 39 month survivor of NCT grade 3 no clean margins. Initially was advised to take her home for a few days to say goodbye..but her lovliness is still here still feisty and enjoying life. Lucinda is holistically treated and has been since three months post diagnosis. I have conferance proceedings from this year on the latest MCT stuff..will email if you would like it. Cheers and the very best of luck to Ollie. -
keeping fingers crossed for a simple result on Monday.

aaaaah! the vagaries of nail clipping. My Lucinda HATES me clipping her nails. Has since the day she arrived here aged 7 months. Tried everything. The late 2002 saw her having regular visits to the vet and she would get her nails clipped there too! The witch, if I try she morphs into a slippery seal with snapping teeth, take her to my vet and she holds out each paw! Next she will be demanding a full pedicure with polish to boot. I cannot understand a vet not being willing to clip the nails. Try another vet.
