Can Anyone Point Me In The Direction Of A Holistic Vet
dogbesotted replied to JAL's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Just letting you know that Charissa smith is my holistic vet -
Phew! Glad Ollie is OK. He seems to be making an art form out of creating worry for you...bless his staffy heart. All mine are doing OK. Lucinda constinue to totter about having a lovely old lady time. Guiness mcGuinness and his evil litter brother Dennys Dog have not had a fight for about three weeks..... now i can afford to eat rather than pay vet bills. I adore Dennys but he is the wild child, first pup born and I found him in the middle of the paddock still in his birth sack. I think we bonded instantly. Guiness I revived so they are both special. Guiness is the alpha now that Oscar has journeyed to The Bridge but Dennys is determined to create havoc until he is alpha which will never be. sigh....boys dogs!!! what more can i say Hugs to Ollie and his family H

ahhhhh! the delights fo a new puppy. How old is jasmine? How you manage her routine is very dependent on age. -
My Dog Might Have A Brain Tumour...
dogbesotted replied to stormie's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
glad the news was positive from thevet. As your dog is becoming aged... it may be worthwhile reading up on canine cognitive disorder ( doggy alzheimers). http://www.vin.com/proceedings/Proceedings...6&O=Generic http://www.petplace.com/dogs/cognitive-dys...dogs/page1.aspx and others. Cheers Helen -
glad that she is fine. I always worry myself silly when any of my fur kids have a vet stay. Worry is all part of the fun LOL. Cheers Helen

also the bully breeds often have zinc deficiency problems. My dear departed jake had a constant battle with skin problems. A quality raw home prepared diet worked... as long as there was no pet mince added ( often has preservatives added to it altho they deny that. ) Jake got a good vit supplement ( with zinc) each day. Grains in kibble can create havoc with their sensitive little skins. Good Luck H

Recently Blind Spaniel - Help Appreciated
dogbesotted replied to curns's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
you can also make an angel vest... it has a little halo which helps keep blind dogs bumping into things http://www.angelvest.homestead.com/ here is link to support group: http://www.blinddogs.com/ -
thyroid.thyroid thyroid :::: insist on a full thyroid panel analysed by Dr Jean Dodds in the USA. http://www.itsfortheanimals.com/HEMOPET.HTM I think at this stage i would be consulting with a reputable holistic vet as well. H

Indolent Ulcer On The Cornea
dogbesotted replied to westielover's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have had similar problems with a lamb. tried everything conventional to no avail. Tried cod liver oil. Pierced capsule and placed two drops in each eye twice a day... bingo! worked a treat. I came across the idea after reading about an eye surgeon who recommends this treatment for eye ulcers in humans that do not respond to conventional treatment. ] Cheers H -
ok so she would have a full long coat. I would not be using any highlighting shampoo at all. The aloveen is good. I would be especially carefull with rinsing the shampoo out of the coat. ( would not leave the conditioner in either) maybe the final rinse could be with : either a) for light coat 1 camomile tea bag in 1 cup boiling water. leave intil cool, strain , add juice of 1 lemon. Pour over dog and leave in b) dark coated dog 1 tablespoon rosemary steeped in 1 cup boiling water..leave to cool, strain and add 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar. pour over dog and leave in. I would also be looking at adding some fish to the diet. cheers H

I am always delighted to hear that Ollie is doing so well. lucinda is also still here...looking much better lately. eating HUGE meals and enjoying life. My dear Oscar ( Lucindas litter brother) crossed to The Bridge on 29 june....... the goats are lost without him andf the paddock are strangely empty as well. Hugs to Ollie dog Helen

Ok I am looking at the packets of the excelpet capstar and the other one which came from a vet and is more expensive 1. both are made by Novartis...excelpet is a registered trademark of novartis. 2. for both tablets contain 57 mg nitenpyram each. for large dogs weighing between 11.1 - 57kg. it is a marketing exercise. ppl who buy their pet supplies from a supermarket are seen as less willing to pay a higher price than those who purchase the same supplies from a vet or specialist supplier cheers helen edited for spelling sigh

that is nice to hear..... I hope Konnie will continue to pick up. Blessings helen
-
ok.. congested lungs???? heart related? is Konnie on any other meds? I have found that writing down my questions before i get to the vet helps me remember to ask them ( as long as i remember to take the list LOl) I agree with what others have said. my beloved Jake had that problem when he started treatment for dilated cardiomyopathy and frusemide was one of the drugs he was put on.... when the body starts to get back into balance fluid wise this will settle down. diuretics can also cause imbalances in the body salts so aks your vet about that. sending postive thoughts your way H

Oh I am sorry to read this.... RIP Pepsi until you all meet again. Owned by Shelties..you did the very best for you sweet Pepsi. These immune mediated diseases are damnably difficult to fight. I will light a candle in honour of Pepsi tonight. Hugs H -

Lucinda was dxd 28 August 2002 so its 4 years and 7 months. Pix keeping your girl in my thoughts. remember that everything they write about are averages. so dont panic and try to stay calm..difficult i know so easy to say and so very hard to do. Helen
-
Lucinda is so frail and her backlegs and front legs dont always want to go in the same direction...BUT other than that and she is loosing so much muscle and her fur has become very patchy and her teeth are breaking.....she is in herself quite good. going through a second puppy hood, play bows to the other dogs, leaps about and is interested in what is going on around her and eats like it is going out of fashion HUGE meals with relish. Her brother Oscar is holding his own and Guiness McGuinness is doing ok altho the tumour on his gum/jaw has regrown. The rest of the mob are good. fat Ange had a couple of lumps removed last month and has recovered well..did not have them biopsied. Lucky is becomming so full of his own importance that it is amusing to watch him scurrying about supervising. Mags is good, Angel adoreable but missing Steve. Gina and gracie are full of beans and Dennys Dog remains as ever DD... full of exuberance and bad manners but I love him just as he is. Cheers Helen

hehe! "nothing to report" is music to my ears... Hugs to you both Helen
