Boris Is Getting Operated On Today
dogbesotted replied to saintlysusan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Phew! thank the dog gods for that. Poor Boris. Heres hoping he continues to improve at an exponential rate. cheers H -
My girl lucinda has been living with Mast cell Cancer grade 3 for over 5 years now. the tumour was removed without clean margins. Lucinda has more lumps now but I have chosen to ignore them as she reacts so very badly to anaesthetics and being away from her environment.. so for me it has finally become a case of believing that Lucinda is here for a good time... she is holistically treated. I would be inclined to consult with a reputable holistic vet to get support for kayla.. it does help Cheers

Boris Is Getting Operated On Today

OMG yet again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor boris what an ordeal he is going thru. As for seeking a second opinion.. i would be expecting to see some improvement quickly and would not be waiting a week. massive infection like this can get out of control rapidly as you now know. I would also be looking at a vet checkup visit on day 2 and every second day thereafter until both you and the vet are satisfied that the healing is progressing well. healing thoughts heading out to boris H -

Pleased to hear that Flash is feeling good long may it last H
-
Just wondering how flash is doing? Cheers H
-
Glad to hear that Flash has had a good result from the surgery...that is the first hurdle and you have made it. I am a great beleiver in holistic support for cancer treatment ( along with the chemo etc if that is the route you go). I have used the same practice that treats Ollie . There are also some excellent yahoo groups for ppl whose dogs have cancer..... heaps of experience and support there. Canine cancer: [email protected] Live and love each day to the full H

auto immune disease is tricky to treat. as others have said macrolone is a good short term treatment but does not address the underlying causes. I am assuming that it is discoid lupus which can be aggravated by exposure to sunlight.. so keeping your pup indoors during peak sunlight time is a ggod idea also using a good sunblock... experiument to find one that your dog tolerates and does not rub off. maybe a consult with a reputable holistic vet will help. I am a great believer in a multi pronged assessment for health issues.

hmmm! I would be concerned as well. Cant offer any explanations tho. maybe a call to your vet on Monday

Jack Had A Grade 3 Mast-cell Tumour
dogbesotted replied to Mooper's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Actually occasionally MCTs are wide spread and pervasive ( my brothers boxer has this form) and surgery just was not an option. However that is not common. My Lucinda has been living with MCT grade 3 no clean margins since 28 aug 2002. Holistically treated. Cheers all.... Mooper remember that it is a good idea to read as much as you can..... join other specialised groups and get personal reports. and discuss and question what is being done with Jack with your vet. Hope this helps... Helen -

Mooper... have replied to your PM. Thinking of you H -
Polaramine is Ok for dogs but it does make them dopey. My girl Lucinda is now on loratidyne ( Claratyne I think is one of the names itis marketed under).
-
what does his diet consist of? oils ,and veggies to add fibre may help.
-
I would be worried about the lethargy.. give the vet anothercall..better safe than sorry also just leave water available for him to drink and keep an eye on the level.
-
I cannot begin to imagine how terrified you must have been. Hope Leah has a quick recovery and this never happens again.. might be worth discussing with the vet what suitable antihistamies to keep on hand for such an emergency. H edit spelling again sigh

arroooo arroooo arrooo! happy dance all round here. WHAT GREAT NEWS. way to go Ollie lad. I am thrilled. Helen ps. give the lad anything his staffy heart desires.

I would have the same fears. would be demanding blood tests. If the dog is drinking to excess there is a physiological reason and it is not normally a urinary tract or bladder infection. do you have any influence with your brother?
-
has a full blood panel been done including thyroid function etc. There must be an explanation for this ... and excessive drinking can have causes in adrenal function... as well as others of course.

Homeopathic Remedy For Hyper Vigilant Dog
dogbesotted replied to Muttaburra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
sorry did not mean to infer that you are clueless . I think with all dogs that come to us a bit later in life it takes some "imagination " plus good luck to put the picture together. If life seems boring to her maybe some toys such as the giggle ball which makes growly noises -
Homeopathic Remedy For Hyper Vigilant Dog
dogbesotted replied to Muttaburra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
well said Anissa. many people do not realise that most successful complementary medicine is patient specific rather that disease/problem specific. a classical homeopath can provide the best answer after assessing the dog H -
he will get on with life and make the most of every minute and not waste a moment comparing the number of legs he has with others. Once healed he will be fine. H

Has Anyone Had To Amputate A Dogs Leg?
dogbesotted replied to Mushaka's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I suspect that amputation for dogs is a massive relief from pain. They are such stoic creatures and certaily wonderful examples to all of us... lessons in how to get on with life. years agao i watched with fascination as a 3 legged dog collected hos doggy mail from the neighbourhood and left his own LOL. he was missing a back leg. He sniffed here and there on the side of the building looking foir just that right spot.. turned around a lifted his remaining back leg... peed and wandered off. I guess no one has told him he could not do that anymore. I have acquaintances whose dogs have had amputations due to cancer or breaks and they have all bounced back . Good luck -
I would be using the following: !/3 organic apple cider venegar with 2/3 water. use as a douche. The vinegar acidifies the ear environment and keeps bacteria and yeast under control.
