  1. I would also be contacting a reputable holistic vet ( there is a good practice in sydney). a multi pronged treatment is best. BUT both vets need to be kept informed. Cheers H
  2. ok guys.. i humbly stand corrected re tail length and dog communication.
  3. many years ago, our labrador Brian Custard O'Doggle had his tail amputated after he was hit by a car.... foolishly we opted to have it short as if it were deliberately docked. With the wisdom of an additional 35 years of living with dogs I would now save as much of the tail as possible - it is such an important communication device . Good Luck H
  4. Ollie was dxd nov 2005..... so he is 2 years post dx My girl lucinda was dxd MCT grade 3, no clean margins end August 2002. Oncologist felt she would not be around for very much longer and i was advised to take her home for a few days to say goodbye... L was holistically treated until about 6 months ago when it became traumatic for her to get meds frequently so now she just gets to do whatever she likes. she is doddery but loving life and loving food. L was treated by barbara fougere... cheers H
  5. just popping in with positive thoughts for all fighting the good fight, condolances for those whose fight has come to an end - their beloved companions romp now pain free. My girl lhas MCT like Ollie and is holistically treated. Thinking of you all Helen
  6. I firmly believe that holistic treatment has given lucinda a quality of life that she otherwise would not be having. In Sept 2002 the uni oncologist advised that I take lucinda home for a few days to say goodbye.....she is now over 19 years old a bit doddery but still enjoying life and food. H
  7. excellent news Ricey.. my girl lucinda has MCT grade 3.. no clean margins. but she has been only holistically treated and is still here over 5 years later doing her old doggy routines. cheers Helen
  8. Good news.. there must be a run on fatty deposits.. my girl Angelina is heading to thevet onTuesday to have a baseball sized fatty lipoma removed from her armpit ( legpit just does not sound right LOl) Glad LuLu is doing well after her brush with MCT. did you get clean margins? Cheers Helen
  9. And how is the adorable Miss Lucinda? Still keeping the postie at bay... Hugs back to you guys from us as well. J Madame Lucinda is as feisty as ever, in fact has a little overestimated her abilities which ended up at the vets with her poor face somewhat chewed.. but thankfully all superficial just looked shocking LOL. However she had the last laugh as Angel ( who inflicted the facial damage) ended up at the vet four days later with a seriously huge abcess. Angel was shaved and had a drain inserted. I swear Lucinda grinned when i brought Angel home -- and i did hear her snort. Cheers H
  10. There is an excellent book : written by caroline levin " Canine Epilepsy: An Owner's Guide to Living With and Without Seizures (Paperback)" http://www.petcarebooks.com/books/canine_epilepsy.htm It is down to earth and provides the information that owners of epi dogs so desperately need to understand what is going on and perhaps triggers.
  11. very special greetings from Lucinda to Ollie dog -- they are a feisty pair Hugs H
  12. thyroid imbalance can also have similar symptoms as cushings disease but is easier to treat and diagnose . blood test of T4 levels if low thyroxine 2X daily solves the problem. cheers H .
  13. i second Tooheys comments... if there is no harm then do not take radical actions. H
  14. still get it removed.. it could just be a small infection or similar BUT MCT's can increase and decrease in size as well . As Lucinda has MCT I am more than a little lump phobic Cheers H
  15. phew! just gotta love those fatty lipomas.... h

  21. my girl lucinda is celebrating her 6th year post dx mct grade 3 no clean margins. Lucinda is holistically treated and altho old and somewhat doddery now is enjoying life Blessings h
  22. My first thoughts are thyroid. as he is being treated.. a few questions: firstly is the thyroid level being regularly monitoried? If there is no respons to thyroid supplementation perhaps look at cushings.. he Mac been tested for cushings? also look at autoimmune thyroiditis ( hashimotos disease).. not to mention vaccinosis. all have similar symptoms but differing causes and different treatments. i would also be consulting a reputable holistic vet . maybe have the bloods analysed by Dr jean Dodds .. simple to do and Dr Dodds is a world expert in this area. Cheers H
