Lucinda ( Arrowstud Jessica) daughter of Zaeme Alegra Snostorm and Girrawa Bert has crossed to the great trattura of the skies where she will greet her ancestors. She was the epitome of grace and beauty combined with fierce devotion to her flock. Lucinda also fought MCT grade three with determination and a love of life for seven and a half years, She was now weary and it was time to say 'well done girl, well done. close your eyes and rest now. We'll all be along soon.' It is fitting that Lucinda has left the farm today - the last day of summer. she is missed by all who knew her. Helen.

hmmmmm .. sounds like the thyroid meds... doubling is a very big increase. One of mine is one thyroxine ATM.. when we increased them the vet said ( with a big grin) that if Angelina started doing laps of the front paddock to reduce them dose....... but overdose can certainly be the cause of your pup beingvery insettled.. "Precautions The effects of levothyroxine sodium therapy are slow in being manifested. Overdosage of any thyroid drug may produce the signs and symptoms of thyrotoxicosis including, but not limited to: polydipsia, polyuria, polyphagia, reduced heat tolerance and hyperactivity or personality change. Administer with caution to animals with clinically significant heart disease, hypertension or other complications for which a sharply increased metabolic rate might prove hazardous." Cheers Helen

grilled steak.. how pawfect!!!!!! lol Miss Lucinda is managing the past two days have been much cooler and so not so hard for her to stay comfortable. She has lost a lot of strength over the past month amd has great difficulty getting those back legs to work properly - off and on- so now she stays next door at night if she chooses.... It is too hard to ask her to get up on command. she is still cheerful, and when she does get about has loads of fun.... we are just taking each day as it come tho.. I think we have arrived at that stage... H

Just checking in to ask how my favourite staffy is doing Helen

I would also be keeping in mind chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture . My dear departed girl The divine Miss Sophie was kept comfortable with a combination of homeopathic remedies, chiro, acupuncture, salmon oil, gl;ucosamine etc as well as more heavy duty drugs when needed. The dear old thing did well for almost 12 years which is not bad for a great dabe x irish wolfhound who was born with deformed growth plates in her stifles. H

I was just about to suggest a full blood panel plus full thyroid ( not just T4).. several rescue dugs i have had have developed thyroid problems .. casper had shocking eyes and ears, lack of energy, his coat fell out his skin later became greasy..... and he was treated by vet for a chronic eye infection for over 12 months and thyroid was never mentioned. Once he started on his meds the improvement was rapid and amazing. yep I know i am thyroid fixated. H

I feel you need to look at your fatty acid ratios.... free range red meats have different ratios of omega fatty acids to grain fed animals. The levels of omega ^ fatty acids are \much higer with grain fed. sources of omega 3 : green leafy vegetables, soy, canola oil, flax seed oil, cold water and marine fish oil eggs, . Herrings, sardines, salmon, mackerel all have high levels of omega 3 fatty acids Food Sources of Omega-6 Essential Fatty Acids Include: Safflower oil - the richest natural source Sunflower oil Corn oil Sesame oil Hemp oil (best balance of omega 6:3) Pumpkin oil Soybean oil Walnut oil Wheatgerm oil Evening Primrose oil the amounts of the omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids and their ratios influence whether they reduce or promote inflammation in the body. as a consequence i would seek a consult witha reputable holistic vet to if you are supplementing a balanced diet with fatty acids you need to give Vit E as well cheers H -
at last you have some possible ( but remember not yet a diagnosis) an ultrasound will definitely help ... good luck. H

i second Dr Jean Dodds... H -
this link below may be a start. also some maremma ppl have said they think it could be caused by copper deficiency.. but maybe a blood tests can confirm if this is the case. some of my guys have pinkish noses from time to time but it seem to correct itself. also irritation by midges also causes some to get pink around the eyes and the nose. I have not noticed the lip area becoming pink tho http://www.drjwv.com/faq/?view=46&name=Pigment cheers helen and the maremma crew
