have you had a full blood panel including T4 and antibodies done? Your boy is getting older and it is worthwhile having a full vet check. h -

damnation!!!!! Erny this is frustrating for you isnt it! maybe go the thyroid path earlier rather than later.. at least then it is ruled out. Mind you I am seldom surprised at the symptoms that disappear once a thyroid problem is identified and treated. Good luck H -
poor pup. have been there before and now. is the dear old thing on diuretics as well?? h

erny..it is so frustrating when we dont know "why"!!!!!! at least the young fella is heading in the right direction at the moment H -
maybe you need a vet visit to rule out a problem with bowel etc. I am assuminghe is desexed.. if not it could be a prostate problem. maybe add oat bran to his meals and maybe a few short walks rather than just one. and make sure he is drinking plenty of fluids.. often older dogs 9 and people) just cant be bothered to drink esp if movement is a bit difficult.. and once they get a bit dehydrated they really dont feel as thirsty. coccidioses perhaps. one of the symptoms is jelly like clots with filaments coated in red blood cells.... also colitis can cause this (IBS) just throwing up ideas H

Hey Erny check these links: http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/grooming/...itions2.htm#fpd nasodigital hyperkeratosis - an ailment affecting either the nose or foot pads (or both) of older dogs. In hyperkeratosis, keratin - the tough, fibrous outer covering of foot pads - grows excessively. Often, the hard, cracked pads appear to have "keratin feathers" around their edges. A vet can diagnose this ailment by analyzing a section of pad tissue. Although hyperkeratosis can’t be cured, it can be controlled. The veterinarian can carefully trim excessive keratin and instruct the owner on techniques to hydrate the pads, retarding excessive keratin growth. One such technique is to soak the pads each day in a 50 percent propylene-glycol solution over a period of several days. old dogs most likey to be affected... so not very likely to be this one. liver ??? maybe try some milk thistle. look into zinc deficiency maybe..... Helen -
Jodie.. boy am i gladdened that Ollie is HOME and heading in the right direction. It seems that you have not tracked down ollies cache of medical conditions... so he keep popping up with something dofferent... i know staffies are smart but reading medical books???????? taking smart a bit too far methinks. give the dear lad a cuddle from me. We ( the pack and i) are doing ok up here.. missing Lucinda terribly tho. The days seem a little less bright without my gorgeous girl here physically but I think she is still overseeing everything here. Had guinness to the vet on Monday he was running a temp of close to 41deg c......scary. but tyoday it seems he has turned the corner and is oon the improve. Guinness has lost 8kgs over the past few months which is a worry.. so we are going to keep a close eye onhim. Tony the vet does not think this has anything to do with his oral tumour... so keeping fingers crossed. hugs helen

oh jodie.. i missed this.... sending heaps of positive and healing energy to my fav staffy love helen

I think there is a variety of causes of immune mediated diseases.. but over vaccination certainly has a role there. My dog Morris developed Immune mediated thrombocytopenia 4 days after his vaccination booster....... Morris was my learning dog.. i now minimally vaccinate, mainly raw feed etc etc and question everything helen
