  1. ha! you beat me to it Erny.. cheers h
  2. while i am not a fan of the rspca as a whole... esp the upper echelons. I do have to garee that the rspca is all too often treated as a defacto givt dept and is responsible for the animal welfare aspect of legislation.. however i too remember Clifford.... and this certainly gives me a jaundiced view of the organisation. on several occasions i have reported something to the rspca... once they came back to me to say that the responsible persons had been contected yadda yadda yadda.. and that appropriate actions had been taken ( in this case the rspca was fed a load of crap but were not in a psoition to say otherwise). the other occasions the skinny horse were not found.. i found them the next day dead on the other side of teh small dam... All that being said they do have an unenviable job.. I just wish that they were actually for all creatures great and small without making judgements based on looks H
  3. oh my goodness.. what a rough time you are both having. listen to what enry is saying.. your pup is in good hands... and you need to take a deep breath and try toget some rest to regain strength for when Noopy comes home. Sometimes we just need to have faith..... hugs H
  4. i got bitten up and down both forearms by one of my guys, he had been to vet for an abcess on his paw.. needed draining and cleaning so he was sedated. all went well and he came home. as he was a working m,aremma i put him in the pens to recover. later noticed that he was straining to poop when i took him out -- hostory of bowel surgery so off to the vet again - twice in the same day!!!!!! vet needed to examine his rear end.. but could not sedate him again.. so i held while vet poked and prodded. oscar was very patient then let me know he had had enough.. i said to vet to stop he said a moment more and no sooner were the words out of his mouth than poor Oscar had bitten me hard on both arms.. he sort of kept chomping.... then realised whant he was doing and looked horrified! i was in so much pain i could not even get words out of my mouth!!!! and could not gets pics because both hands were the size of pumpkins with fat sausages attached. .. the add in the usual.. bumps, play nips, bleeding noses, split l;iups.. and so on H

  10. that is very positive news! thankyou for sharing. it is always heartstopping ti receive a diagniosis of cancer and we seldom hear the long term success stories. long may remission continue Helen
  11. ditto! appalled seem so inadequate. the photos should be placed in the public domain... perhaps then public outdry will get some action inaction onthe part of the RSPCA __ for all creatures great and small????? i dont think so H
  12. anyone know of pug breeders around the prenzlau area of south east queensland ( lockyer valley ) was off to pick olives today and drove past a place that had heaps of pugs in pens.. i guess it was pugged LOL. H
  13. Mum To Emma.... since when should those of us who own big dogs not be permitted to have them in our front yards??? the dogs did not jump a fence or such like but rather the neighbours dog dug under their fence. I have been in a situation where a strange dog dug into my property and was behaving agressively to my dogs ( the strange dog was a pomeranian) my pitbull juts looked at hiom amnd walked away.. but the divine miss sophie ( wolfie x Dane) was having none of it and attempted to run the dog out but Alfie leaped at her .. he was tossed inthe air and I yelled, he hit the ground and i grabbed him.. the little sod bit thru my hand( twice) and then tried to have another go at Miss Sophie.. Luckily Alfie survived but it sure was not due to his common sense or that of his owner. my neighbour thought it was very funny and made no attempt to improve his fencing so i spent approx $2000.00 to chicken wire the entier boundary beteen our properties. surely the owner of the trespassing dog has soem responsibility to containhis dog???? i willalso add that as far as damages is concerned many years ago i was bitten by a maltese.. had nearly 20 stitches in my lower leg and the little sod had bitten to the bone. how much damage would that dog have done to a child or someone who was frail aged??? he too was not in his yard. H
  14. http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/senat...0-1225833132583 "The neighbour's dog has since died from the significant injuries it suffered during the fight, she said. "It's one of those things that you don't want to happen, but it does and I'm just sorry for all concerned." "I really feel for the neighbour." A Boroondora Council spokeswoman said that animal control bylaws would still apply in this case, even though the fatal dog attack occurred on private property. The council could take action against Ms Kroger if a complaint is received or one of its officers observed the incident. No complaint has been lodged at this time. Senator Kroger - who is currently recovering in the Epworth Freemasons Hospital - missed parliament today and said she would watch question time from her hospital bed."" THIS IS HOW ANTI DOG WE HAVE BECOME H
  15. the news of daddys passing brought tears to my eyes.. what a super ambasaddor for not only pitbulls ( a most maligned breed) but for all dogs. he will be missed by all who knew him. Condolances to his closest family Helen
  16. that sounds like a wonderful program I am a sucker for the older dogs.. have just taken in a 10.5year old maremma.. adult dogs are often quieter and more sedate and make delightful companions to our older citizens H
  17. my maremma oscar had bowel surgery for obstruction. he ate within a few days but not a lot. i mainly gave him nutragel and chicken soup. Any meals had psyllium husk added to kep stools soft... he finally had a bowel movement about 4 days after surgery and we all breathed a huge sigh of relief as sometimes the bowel does not regain function. good luck with your boy H

  20. what a tragedy! ppor man he has already been thru so much. shame on that woman whose idiocy allowed this to happen. i hope that she is named and shamed... at the very least. the good samaritan restores ones faith in the essential goodness of my fellow human beings. H
  21. i know its silly to say try not to worry too much... but i'll say it anyway. i have lived with dogs with cancer and have learned not to cross my bridges before i come to them... many times the bridge we try to cross is not the one we do cross if you get my meaning. one day at a time is enough. keeping positive about your boys op and sending positive thoughts out to surround him. h
  22. excellent news indeed... now over to dear porridge herself to make a stunning recovery isnt she lucky to have found a wonderful loving and caring home H
  23. hang in there!!!!!!!! will keep esmay tucked into myheart all day and sending prayers for a really stunning improvement hugs h
