  3. OMG!!!!! bowing down in thanks to the Dog Gods. may bruce have the life and love he so richly deserves. being a Dog he will of course forgive us our trespasses as humnans.. pity we so often fail to live up the their standards Helen
  4. how sad! the sense of loss is certainly magnified because you dont know what has happened. i do agree that perhaps fostering a dog in need, or even giving a loving home to a dog who has also been lost ( whilst explaining that this dog did not have a microchip so its family could not be found) may well be the way to go. also let the children know that there is always room in your home and in your hearts for your lost dog to come home to... that each dog is loved just like every person in the family is loved.. good luck helen
  5. that is certainly a good step forward... lets hope that it is just the first of many helen
  6. i strongly suspect that it is because they love the smell... eau de liquified dead mouse or aged dead rooster being the scent of preference but sloppy cow poop will do in an emergency have you noticed how they wrinkle up their faces and turn away in disgust from our perfum??? probably wondering why on earth we make ourselves smell so disgusting H
  7. good results... the low MI is excellent. With MCT the best approach is a excision attempting wide margins.... so they always look waful. my Lucinda had a wound 15cm long .. i nearly collapsed when i saw her. and sstill we did not get clean margins. Boxers are one of the breeds prone to MCT so you may like to investigate some holistic support Good Luck.... blessings helen
  8. hey SL and ollie, Glad to read that the old fellow is ao apart from teh toileting aspect. I too think it could be age related and that he is sleeping so deeply that by the time he wakes he cant hold any longer. Older dogs ( and peple for that matter ) are more prone to bowel incontinence - the sphincter muscle may have got weakened and total control of defecation is lost, leading to occasional fecal incontinence. Another possibility is that, some senior dogs suffer from a condition known as "canine cognitive dysfunction" (CCD), which is similar to Alzheimer's disease in people. Common symptoms of CCD include confusion and disorientation. The dog does not know where he is and he may have a bowel movement in the house thinking that he is outside! If you have an older dog who is incontinent and shows symptoms such as lethargy, staring at walls, not noticing family members, etc., he may have CCD. However it does not sound like Ollie has those symptoms. I reckon a chat with one of the holistic vets may help.. sending dearest ollie heaps of special staffy rubs and tickles... and happy happy doggy dreams hugs helen

  13. right on the money there Souff it is such a tragedy but many people need to realise there are worse things than a quick humane death....we cannot save them all.... when i had big dogs ( two dogs bred for pigging) and The Divine Miss sophie managed to get in pup ( i know i should have had her desexed earlier) i had her speyed... then and there. awful awful, awful .. but what were the lives of the pups going to be like? Now i have learned more but that experience was part of my learning curve H

Noaughty dogs are so wearing. maybe the Innotek boundary set is the way to go.. BUT it does require an initial commitemt to training.... esp with welll established patterns.
