  1. Bowie is home :D Such a good little boy, travelled like a superstar, has already figured out that coming to me means treats and tugs really well for a baby puppy. Pics later, will see how he goes overnight but he might get his 1st beach trip tomorrow
  2. My second order was processed through the Jamaica NY facility on 25th, with no further updates. It's got a couple of puppy sized bunny tugs which I was hoping to have for the new arrival tomorrow... so I hope it randomly shows up like a few others in here. Edited to add: Showed up today, just in time :D
  3. Awesome RJ - look forward to it :D Thanks tlc I have joined the page now - I think the next two Sundays are probably out for me anyway, I'm hoping to head down to the Dogs Big Day Out at KCC Park next Sunday.
  4. Awesome RJ - we can do puppy dates?! I'm still keen to join in here and there with your group tlc as well :D
  5. How long is it taking for results to come back these days for parvo titres?
  6. Landlines and eftpos are out here, internet is working (westnet) and mobiles are fine. Landlines are out as far as Timboon, Scotts Creek, Cobden and Purrumbete. Just been talking to some on site-techies, Telstra has told them it could be weeks - whether that means data, phones or what he wasn't sure but ouch!!! Gotta feel for any Warrnambool retailers, that will put a massive hole in the Christmas spending coming through. On the super good news side it's official that young "Bowie" will be coming to live with me in two weeks time :D http://web3.foxinternet.net/pep-lill/ He's the 3rd puppy down the list of pics :D I'm absolutely stoked with this little boy, I cannot wait to meet him
  7. Wish I'd gotten in earlier to get some of those squeaky chewy Kong toys - I found some in Petstock the other day and thought they'd be awesome puppy toys. Had a look at some puppy toys in Best Friends today and most of them were up around the $20 mark, minimum.
  8. Thanks tlc - much appreciated :D Might be this Sunday or the 1st weekend in December, I might bring the girls down before a beach run. RJ he's coming from NSW, not sure what colour I'm getting as the breeder picks the puppies and they are only a month old so far. There is a few different colours in the litter so will see when I get the email announcement at about 7 or so weeks. :D I'm getting very impatient, I only had to wait 6 weeks for Darcy and not at all for Zee - I've never had to go through the full blown waiting thing before
  9. Thanks tlc, that sounds really good, it would be perfect for what I'm after :D No puppy just yet, I'm getting a working line BC (ANKC registered) but he's not due home until December :D I'm just thinking ahead, I was a bit too casual with Zee's socialisation and I'm keen to continue the awesome start this little boy will have had when I bring him home. I'm absolutely not interested in mainstream PPS and I'd rather not do the puppy free for all that seems to be the done thing these days. I wish my friend was closer, she does some really good puppy classes but 2 hours is a long drive for PPS. Edited to add: Thanks to someone helpful in the BC thread I've been gawking on gumtree looking for a cheap second hand crate. I'm after a PP40 if anyone happens to have one for sale or knows of a good place to get them cheap. Maybe I should've taken advantage of the PGD sale while it was on
  10. As the un-athletic owner/handler of a fast, driven dog I would disagree with you. Darcy has taken me on one hell of a ride over the past few years, it's been a steep learning curve for me but we've loved every minute of it and achieved a lot along the way. I would rather learn to handle fast straight up than try to adapt later, and Darcy obviously enjoys every minute of it. Ask anyone here who's seen her run. :) If the dog is having fun and not being corrected, yelled at, punished or their reward withheld for the handler's shitty handling and training, who are we to comment? I've seen experienced people walk out of a ring obviously in a strop because their dog shut down/blew them off or dropped a bar or missed a contact. If I can see their body language across 3 rings how do you think the dog feels at point blank range? What about when the dog gets dragged out by the collar for dropping a bar or missing the contact? Where do you draw the judgement line? How many people out there are sufficiently good trainers and handlers to get 100% out of their dog training and trialling wise? My opinion is as long as the dog is having fun, the owner is having fun and no-one's getting hurt - bring it on!
  11. Isn't he gorgeous! Look at the bloody size of him at 8 weeks though, eeek!!! Can I get some more info on the obedience school you've mentioned, I presume it's in Warrnambool?. I'm on the look out for a less formal puppy school where I can do some socialisation but also some training/distractions work with a baby puppy in super short stints. I have a fair bit of leeway at BDOC for agility but whether I'll get that same benefit in PPS is another question so I'm open to ideas. :)
  12. Woohoo thanks BB and Aphelion - I have a delivery card in my mailbox and I presumed it was for something else, maybe it's for both :D
  13. Does this "Your item was processed through a facility in AUSTRALIA on November 06, 2012 at 8:23 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination" mean it's on it's way? It's been showing that status since Tuesday. Not that I'm being impatient or anything
  14. My package has finally hit Aus after sitting in limbo for what felt like ages
  15. Bugger - I wanted something before next weekend and it should've made it if they'd sent it when I ordered. The website said "shipped" yesterday yet I received an email last night saying my order had been held up because of the iSqueaks and wouldn't be sent until Friday. I asked them to cancel the iSqueaks and send it straight away but they didn't because they reckon it won't make it in time anyway. I've never had a CR order take longer than 10 days and I've got the ordering history to prove it
  16. Thanks for the tip :D Warrnambool amazes me with it's names of places that you have to be a local to know, I had no idea where the flume was. Handy to know it's a quiet beach if I'm ever short on time.
  17. Haven't been there in ages, used to go down there but seems to be too much of a doggy free for all, plus the off lead area seems a bit ambiguous. Rather drive the extra 15 mins and almost have the beach to myself, especially since I use a ball thrower so much. Much more user friendly swim wise as well. :D
  18. No worries RJ - you've had other things on your mind Just disappointed that there didn't seem to be any media about it locally. Baited area is from the Kelly Swamp mouth back to Levy's beach. They've been pretty slack with their signposting previously I don't recall ever seeing signs at Basin Track yet it's not that far to walk Eastwards back to Kelly Swamp. I would've thought with the fox scalp program going it would've reduced the need to do it at all. I hate 1080 baiting
  19. http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/about-us/tenders-and-notices/belfast-coastal-reserve,-tower-hill-reserve-and-private-property Seen the sign up at Gorman's Lane today, from 1st October 2012 to July 2013. I generally keep an eye on the Standard but I haven't seen any notification of this at all, I thought they kept baiting to a minimum over tourist season. Last time they baited the beaches around there it seemed like there was far more out of control dogs being walked down there, or maybe I'm more attuned to it now I have a dog who hates being rushed
  20. So sorry to read about Sniff RJ I've not met your boys but give Boof a belly rub or a hug from me
  21. They are planning on running PPS classes after sending someone off for 3 days of training. Be interesting to see if they tell their clients that their trainer is a novice as well. I suppose 3 days is better than nothing but be stuffed if I'll be taking my puppy there
  22. I've seen one at Warrnambool, trying to think whether it was training with the dog school or just using the ground as it was a while ago. The owner had moved out from the US and bought the dog with her.
  23. While on this topic, I'm after a 5 to 8 metre long line - very light and suitable for a youngish puppy. Any recommendation greatly appreciated :)
  24. I'm not an accredited dog trainer Tenties but it sounds to me like Bundy wasn't feeling very secure in his new "home". Thus his tendency to take a snap when woken or startled - it's a fear response. As for "trainer" there is some really good ones out there and there are some shockers, to me the accreditation doesn't mean much - results do. If there is anything that crops up behaviour wise that concerns you then maybe look at getting someone in, but it sounds to me like Bundy is where he needs to be, what's another one when you've already got 8 :D
  25. Darcy's up to her 8th Masters Jumping title and I had to join the waiting list for the closest agility club I can kind of get to (it's a 2 hour drive in really good traffic). I've been on it for well over 12 months, but half of that is due to my inability to make the intro nights. Some clubs will take you on immediately if you have the ability to instruct to a certain level.
