  1. Thanks Ellz I will duck in and have a look. I need to bite the bullet and get something. Takes forever to clip and then file her nails so she has no sharp edges. I think that's why she gets the sh*ts on with the whole process.
  2. What size are they (Ozito and Rok) in comparison to the Dremel? I have Dad's dremel here which I borrowed with the intention of doing Darcy's nails, but it is really quite bulky and I couldn't imagine being comfortable handling it even in a cordless model. The flexible shaft on the Rok sounds like a great idea.... might duck into our local Mitre 10 here and see if they have one.
  3. Someone thought Millie was a Kelpie, now they've got me wondering if she is a Lab x Kelpie (she's a rescue dog so it's anyone's guess, though, Ruby's breeder says she's full Lab! So confused!) But I don't know enough (well, anything really!) about Kelpie's to know... here are some pics of her: Not sure if you were talking about Ruby or Jess' Darcy, but I'll say thanks for both of them I reckon I can see Kelpie in her face, and in and around her eyes in the 2nd photo. Darcy's eyes are darker, more like the Lab. The Kelpie doesn't stick out much in her face, but most people pick she has something else in her from the body shape.
  4. Tried footy shoes but found them uncomfortable and too grippy. Ran in a hiking shoe for a while but they weren't that waterproof. I now wear a trail running shoe, and I will stick with them. Comfortable and good grip without being excessive, and have never felt like I was going to lose my footing in them - in mud or wet grass. And they are waterproof! :D
  5. Quite a few people have mistaken Darcy for working line Lab. She's out of a registered Lab bitch by a Kelpie dog. Not the worlds greatest photo but you kind of get the idea.
  6. Thanks guys. Am in the middle of ordering a crate bag from the Soft Crates people - just trying to get the right size. However still looking at crate covers - I'm a bit undecided at this stage. Thanks again.
  7. I agree, I think you both deserve the ET title See you next Saturday??? Yep, we'll be there on Sat, apparently fitter than ever Thanks all for your congrats - and I agree re:me getting an ET title too, I mean, I was the one who had to get fit after all no fair that the dog gets all the glory I'm impressed that you can sit down to write the above the day after doing 20 km on a bike at slow speed.
  8. I have a collapsible soft crate which has a handle on it, but would be kind of handy if I had a bag to put it in with a shoulder strap instead. Needs to fit a 36" crate that's quite bulky as I keep a Snooza Futon in it. I'd like to get a full cover for it, as it's only mesh and is a bit chilly in the cooler months. Does anyone know where I could find someone who makes such things? Thanks in advance
  9. Sadly I can see why. I have to admit, I cringe if I see a Lab at the beach, and I normally try to avoid them as much as possible. Unfortunately, many of their owners have no or little control over them and are happy to see their dog having a total free for all as long as it tires their dogs out. There are dogs that seem to get away with minimal or next to no training. Labs are not one of them. That's not a reflection on the breed, it's a reflection on their owners who only saw a cute Lab puppy (and I think that is one issue - they are incredibly cute as puppies!) and don't understand that they don't train themselves and that they are very energetic dogs. I think they see Guide Dogs and these overweight couch potatoes, merge them in their heads and think that they'll end up with a puppy who comes fully trained already and only needs exercising when they can be bothered. For you guys who own well-behaved Labs, a big well done to you. Be proud that your dog is a great representative of the breed, of what they can be when they are well trained and exercised and not overfed.
  10. Go Minty!! ;) And well done H, glad it was such a good day for it. You gotta love nutty agility dogs - while you're on your feet they just keep on going! I agree, I think you both deserve the ET title See you next Saturday???
  11. Mine finally showed up today, just in time for some weekend & bad weather reading
  12. I agree, free entries for the next trial are great. Provided that you remember you have free entries when you next enter that trial. I forgot, and had to wait until their next trial.
  13. Yes it can, and shoulders as well. I can see it clearly with Darcy who is about 22 kg and it's too much jar for my liking. She was fine when her contacts were crap and she'd creep down the A-frame. Now she's more confident with her 2o2o, even though she leans way back onto her hind end you can still it in her shoulders/elbows at the moment where she drops into 2o2o. I have seen a dicussion on Clean Run that the amount of concussion on the joints is no more than what they experience jumping out of a car, but I'm still not comfortable with it. I just don't drill her over contacts.
  14. Still not arrived today - been curled up on the couch half the day with a rotten head cold, so some good reading material would've been handy. Received an email from CR early this morning, they will send out a replacement ASAP and will follow up any ongoing delayed deliveries if it continues to be an issue. Love their customer service

    Tyson

So sorry to hear about Tyson Pandii ;) A big :p to you and the family. RIP Tyson.
  16. Go Chazer and Bella :p ;) Well done Helen!! They look like they're both having a wonderful time. Lovely photos as well, I have to admit the NADAC photos are always really lovely. The bright colours on the equipment always make a much nicer picture.
  17. Nope, and unless Kelpiechick received hers today then she will be in the same boat. :p A few on the Agility Aust list have said the same thing. Have sent them an email today, mine have been a week late for most of the year, but never this late.
  18. I'm about 45 mins up the road, I used to train with Shannon at agility but left not that long after she did. Now I train at Ballarat, the agility instructors there are actively trialling and are very experienced, and have no issues at all with high drive dogs.
  19. Gorgeous dog PAX. They're on my shortlist of breeds for my next agility dog
  20. Fair call. That makes it a bit harder - it is hard enough to find instructors at the best of times. I hope you weren't told to use a choker chain for agility? I told them straight up I wouldn't use it for obedience, and never did. Then again I'm just a little bit opionated on how I chose to train my dog. My dog's the out of control one who needed to be punished! Anyone who has seen my dog work will know just how funny that is
  21. Have asked different judges about this and got different answers, as I toyed with the same thing myself. Provided it's in English and half makes sense you should be fine. I know one UDX judge who will accept non-English commands providing you tell him what you're using before you enter the ring. I've heard of "leg" being used as a heel command.
  22. I only just manage with one dog and one sport - I work on her fitness as a priority over training for agility, so that takes up most of our daylight hours at this time of year outside my work. Then trying to squeeze in some training here and there, it's not that easy. My yard is too slopey for much agility training so I need to allow 15 to 20 mins extra to pack the car and set up at my chosen training spot, it's a lot of time when there's so little light tlc - I have nothing here doggy wise at all, I travel an hour and a quarter for training. If you're so keen to do agility, why not do agility while it's available at WDTS and then go back to the other club for obedience while agility isn't on? WDTS don't run the number of training sessions they used to, you'd find you'll still have plenty of time at the other club.
  23. Dot Mitchell here in Vic makes them, I don't have any contact details for her but I think she trains at K9 Agility Club at KCC.
  24. Agility here in Vic has a slightly different entry form. We're caught in the middle of new and old at the moment, the old where you had to fill in an entry form for each dog for every class (so up to 10 entries for those who enter everything!) to a new one which has about 6 entries on the one form. Example of the new multi entry form: http://www.bdoc.com.au/agility_links/Agili...20form%20x6.xls Both are acceptable to the VCA BUT it is up to trial secretary which one they accept. I have no idea what the deal is with entries in Qld.
