  1. Uncle Zombie, are there photos of the dog concerned posted somewhere in the media? There is no photo attached to the news.com.au article
  2. I hope it's not a Rottweiler, it would be very easy for Vic government to start adding breeds at this point in their legislative changes
  3. There are 99 dogs listed in the catalogue to be judged before Dachshunds, I wouldn't bother getting there too early
  4. Leema, you write a good letter I hope everyone else is too
  5. That's my concern too, if a neighbour has a beef with you, calls the hotline and because your dog is a cross you can't actually prove their makeup through pedigree etc, the ranger has the power to make the breed determination. You would be very hard pressed to find anyone anywhere who can reliably make visual breed recognition for a cross breed, it's just not possible.
  6. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/new-laws-to-cull-evil-dogs/story-fn7x8me2-1226124880997 God help anyone with a large cross breed dog & nasty neighbours :
  7. Sorry haven't seen the missing pages. Some years there are not many competing for PotY at the Royal, so what's in the catalogue may well be it for this year. There wasn't many competing at this year's Battle of the Champions in the puppy section either.
  8. There are a few mistakes in the catalogue, but once the show starts you can take your catalogue to Complete Canine Co, where they will give you a supplement which contains the missing pages
  9. I think the site is great, the breed results went up REALLY quickly It must be a huge amount of work for the committee even running the show, the results site is a bonus for all those interested who couldn't go. It's not like they are a business being paid to organise a very large show, like all committees they would be juggling an infinite number of balls on very limited time
  10. There are no scheduled times, the judging just works through the listed breeds & timing depends on numbers in those breeds. If you post which breed you're after, someone will probably be able to give you a guesstimate. All exhibits are there all day, so even if you don't catch the breed you're after in the ring, you'll be able to see them in the benching area
  11. The We Are Family program is also being presented in SA
  12. Another awful attack I hope the little boy recovers quickly without too much scarring. I really wish the media would stop reporting in incidents like these that there was no warning though. There is always warning, just people don't see it, don't know what they're looking at or just ignore it. By perpetuating the 'no warning' theory, it doesn't encourage people to learn or pay more attention. eta Snap Snook, you must type quicker than me :p
  13. I feel ill, that poor tiny little girl And all apparently because some neighbourhood moron couldn't, or couldn't be bothered, containing their dog. Horrendous on so many fronts
  14. Poor Storm Bartok, you are best off posting this in the Rotty Owners Breed Sub-Forum, it gets a lot more traffic.
  15. The site layout & function are truly horrid, BUT they are updating the results super-quickly, which is great for those not there
  16. You wont be nervous afterwards, you'll be thinking 'That may have been the longest day of my entire life!' Moose will probably sleep for 3 days after he's been through a day at the Royal
  17. Generally they will take a few groups in at a time (also alphabetically within group), make a shortlist, everyone leaves then they bring in next few groups etc. Once all groups have had a cut, all shortlisted puppies come back in togethr and placing are done then
  18. I've always gotten my blingy leads from Melanie at Bling By Fyrth and always been happy with quality and especially service She recently made a lead for me on VERY short notice and was very nice about my bimboness in forgetting to order it until the last minute Bling By Fyrth
  19. I'm sorry that was your experience Snook Just for the record though, my dogs have had some 'wierd' thing come up & Michael has always been proactive about diagnostic tests and thinking outside the box for answers & treatment. Any decisions re not proceeding w potential treatment options, mainly surgical ones, have always been made in conjunction w me after weighing up benefit vs trauma to my dogs. I have also visited other vets within this time for a second opinion for serious things, mainly because I'm one of those owners who wants to be completely and utterly sure about what is being done for my dogs and have never receivd a second opinion that conflicted with what Michael had said. I have noaffiliation w Michael, this is just IMO & IME
  20. Another vote for Michael, he's been our vet for years and is terrific
  21. I have really good polar fleece coats for my dogs to wear inside, they're reversible too. Julie Hovell from Coppertop Dobermanns makes them to measure.
  22. Keeping It Real, KCC Park is in Skye so the Thursday night training is some distance from you ;)
