  3. had her only a month ago and last year, wish they would be more original. Sounds like 'they' were probably short on time & options to find a replacement Thanks for letting us know Lyndsay
  4. Gosh, that turned all drama llama Eta: P.S. Smacka we are all on the same side, no need for flouncing off. Healthy discussion can be constructive if willing to listen to other's opinions & experiences.
  5. Appreciate that you have strong opinions, but is the condescension really necessary?
  6. I get that too, some people think you run around with your dog looking pretty AND do obedience. Nope, my dog's just the Zoolander of the dog world, judged for looks alone
  7. Most Australian show supplies people sell them, or I buy mine from www.3cdog.com. 3C have lots of different weights and also sell curb link show chains which still look nice but IMO kink less and release easier when using. IMO the curb link chains are better show chains on stronger breeds than the snake or hex link chains.
  8. Mt Gambier Big congrats to Julie & Michael Ross and Tammy Martin for the Pyrenean baby Euzkadi Hear The Drums 'Fernando' going 3 times out of 3 Baby In Show on his first weekend out!!! Nice start for the little man and his people
  9. In SA there are a couple of people that charge for handling in Group 6 and there are also lots of very capable, experienced handlers in Group 6 who do not. I don't charge, never have. But I'm particular about what I handle and have handled for some lovely people with some lovely dogs, so that's enough for me. I have received some nice pressies as thank yous (new suits etc) but it's certainly not why I do it. I don't do grooming, taking on roadtrips etc, I just meet ringside for a show, but I have spent time training in my own time I think that our show scene is a little better off for not having masses of pro handlers, it means it's not a rich person's sport (mostly) and also encourages people towards handling their own dogs which can be very personally satisfying..
  10. Or do you mean how much does it cost to be showing the dog yourself?
  11. Congratulations to all of the competitors, to represent your state is a very special achievement I wish them all the best of luck for Saturday
  12. Does anyone know if that's correct? The KC wont allow a dog who's had a cruciate repair to be shown? That seems a bit extreme, there are all sorts of reasons for dogs doing cruciates
  13. Handlers 7- under 10 Dean Walsh 10 - under 13 Alicia (sorry, don't know her surname) 13 - under 18 Paige Hopkins
  14. Seriously crowded! But the minute it stops it thins out pretty quickly BOB Old English- Danny Boy, RUBOB Priscilla
  15. Plus Adelaide has large indoor turf rings, great benches, benching pavilion closes for lunch, all undercover from benches to rings & you marshall away from public in an area large enough to warm up most dogs in. Good grandstands too, lots of public watching. I love the set up at Adelaide Royal, it's very exhibitor friendly
  16. Thanks everyone for the results, especially Sway for also setting up
  17. I'm thinking some of the pieces that say 'Call for price' are probably even more gruesome than that
  18. Don't stress, it's no biggie. I was more sad that you thought that the other exhibitors opinions meant so much. You can learn a lot from listening to experienced showies, but also remember that it is a competitive environment, not everyone is going to play nice or be able to see through the potential fringies in their mind to be able to give an honest opinion.
  19. Even if they say that the dog in question must meet every point of their 'standard', the criteria is so broad that a lot of dogs will fit it The person doing the assessment is a council officer, not a dedicated breed expert. And don't think for a second that registering it as something will save it from falling within this criteria. If the accusation re breed is made, my understanding is that the onus is on the owner to prove it's not, not for the council to prove that it is.
