Funny Things You Have Heard About Your Breed...
Rottshowgirl replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've had numerous little kids ask if the Pyrs are polar bears, it's very cute :) -
Thanks Results Team :)

Love the DDBs DOL profile pic, it's hilarious  http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=59395

I'm a big rap for sitting ringside & just watching, even make notes if you like. Watch the really accomplished handlers, analyse what they do, little tricks they have, really approach it as a study project & be really logical about it. Whilst some people have an innate ability, a lot of good handling is a skill, you just need to spend some time working out what the skill is & then gradually learn it yourself. When I decided that I was sick of being a crap handler & wanted to better myself, there was a SUPER dog/handler combo on the show scene. I spent as much time as I could watching them at interstate shows, they were an awesome sight to behold & I found them really motivating through how great they were.

She also didn't live there, one of her friends did, but for some reason she'd been left alone w the pack of dogs. Poor darling, horrific way to go

Funny Things You Have Heard About Your Breed...

I have a customer who won't feed anything with beef because the dog will start killing cows that's tragic but hilarious. You should say that it won't make them want to eat more of them but it may make them start sounding like them. Moooooo  -
Kira injury toll: ear puncture, cut lip, gash on paw, bit of blood all over (probably not all hers) 3 year old daughter injury toll: tears, shock, some nightmares & a fear of taking her doggy for a walk in case 'scary doggies come back' Kira was over it pretty much next day once she calmed down, no scars or anything, but Edie still (few months down track) regularly mentions scary doggies biting Kira As the topic title says.....
-
My hubby & 3 yo daughter came back from a walk all shaky a few months ago as our gorgeous Rotty girl had been attacked by two dogs that hurdled a fence whilst their owner was washing his car and attacked our dog in front of our daughter She was devastated, she loves her dog and she knew that the other 'mean dogs were trying to hurt my Kira', she was all teary & worried. Frickin idiots everywhere, I reported them to council and followed up repeatedly until I knew that they were taking it seriously and had dealt with my report properly. It seems to be a Sunday thing, I've stopped walking our neighbourhood on Sundays to avoid the random front yard dogs. At least during the week you can have a mental map of which houses have dogs and know when to cross the road etc. Sad that taaking your pooch & kids for a stroll has come to that

It'd help if they could spell Pyrenean  Good luck to all showing :)

We would all love it if the judges every week were experts in our own breeds but they're not called All Breeds Shows for nothing. If you don't wish for All Breeds Judges to assess & grade your dog in conjunction with them doing same with other breeds, only enter specialties under judges you deem worthy. Specialist judges aren't always the be all and end all anyway, in most breeds there are trends, differences based on judge's origin & what they're regularly exposed to plus judge's own fetishes or preferences.

Thanks Sway :)

That Maremma looked beyond 'not aggressive', it looked scared
-
I didn't think the Lab looked fat at all, I thought he looked really strong and fit. Bit confuzzled as to those who think he's chubby
-
The reactions of the handlers/breeders of the Petite & the Lab were gorgeous, they were both so joyful :) I just adore that Petite, she seems so funny & so naughty. If you could say a dog was grinning, little Jilly definitely is!

How fantastic, huge congrats, that's very exciting

That's really sad, Glenyse was a lovely lady

Maybe we could have less of it here, then. Here you go. Yep, clear as mud now.....
