  1. The anti-scratch devices. This lasted roughly 3 seconds. There's a dog in my bucket.
  2. Cody has his moments. Sometimes I'll throw something and he'll just look at me as if to say "you're the one that threw it and you want me to go get it?" Other times he'll chase it like a maniac then lie down and chew it or bring it half way back and get distracted by a stick or a leaf or a shadow...
  3. http://s121.photobucket.com/albums/o232/Cl...nt=MOV01406.flv He's the second retriever that I've failed. :D
  4. I was just about to post this link into the newest vit c thread. Edit: I will still post the link, just saw it's being discussed in general dog discussion.
  5. Wow, TB. Can I come and stay at your house? If you treat people half as good as you treat your dogs I'll be in heaven! No one could acuse you of not looking out for your dogs, that's for sure. ;)
  6. Cody's obsession is open water. He hates the hose and is not even fond of the clam pool. He will swim in a small puddle though and the lake or river must be swum in even if it's the middle of a Canberra winter.
  7. Cody (yes, he's a GR but let's call him a really fluffy Lab) does that. He went through an escaping period when he was a pup but now he doesn't go through the gate unless he's been invited.
  8. There a couple of options with different bowls. Cody has the "Drink-N-Tidy Water well. http://www.petnetwork.com.au/cgi-bin/shopp...mp;cart_id=2105 Your pup would have a harder time getting a paw in there, although they can be quite resourceful little buggers.
  9. RIP Loki. You brought smiles to so many faces. Such a bright girl, the way you looked up at your mum, you must have known how much she loved you. Run free at the bridge.  for Em and Bosco. Love Nic and Cody :p
  10. I didn't know you had to clip Border Collies.
  11. My Golden went through a toe biting period. Those puppy teeth sure do hurt! I found the best thing to do was just leave him, not put him somewhere because by the time he gets to the laundry for time out he's forgotten what he did. Just walk away every time he bites and he'll get the idea that biting means no more play. If he was too rough with his litter mates they would yelp and stop playing with him. He'll figure it out.
  12. I think we did this topic not long ago. The search function will help you find more info.
  13. He's gorgeous. My dog, Cody used to swallow necks whole so I froze them in bundles of two or three. He stopped swallowing them whole.
  14. I took my Cody to puppy preschool at the vets. He absolutely loved the vet from then on. Even when he's gone to have unpleasant things done he can't control his excitement. One of the most important things for a puppy is socialisation. If puppy preschool achieves nothing more than this it's well worth it.
  15. I won't feed them to my dog just because they are full of artificial colours and preservatives. There are lots of other reasons why they're not wonderful but that's enough for me. Dogs don't need green and red treats.

    The Passing

    Sorry, Griff. RIP Bronson.
  17. That's why Cody does it most of the time. Panting is really important especially when it's hot because it is your dog's cooling system. When your dog stands in front of you and pants in your face it is to show their sense of humour is functioning. Similar to them standing in front of you but facing the other way and wagging their tail in winter. Here's another photo of Cody.
  18. My dog, Cody sticks his tongue out for no reason sometimes.
