The Nova Scotia Duck Toller Tell His Funny Quirks
7464 replied to Jason Cyr's topic in General Dog Discussion
Shifty eyes, you know when he’s lying down, sitting there looking at you from the corner of his eye. He won’t move his head or his body just the eyes. He also loves to role in the mud or dirt when he gets out of the water. My Golden Retriever does that. Here's a Toller flying a hot air balloon. Oh wow where was that taken? Canberra Balloon Festival. -

That link should come with a warning. Not safe for sane minds. I couldn't even get to the end.

Yellowish Orangey Tongue, Dark Green Squirts Pink Gums

My last dog ate half a bag of blood & bone, including most of the bag. He was fine once he stopped stinking. Of course these days if it happened I'd take the dog to the vet even if it's just because the dog ate plastic but I was just a kid & it wasn't my choice. Glad the dog is ok, Chewy. -
I've got a 9 & a half year old puppy. He's a senior puppy. He's got hip displasia and arthritis and his leg jerks when he lies down but he refuses to stop. I don't make him slow down, I don't stop him from running & jumping and being an idiot. He's going to enjoy what time he has left even if that makes it a bit shorter.
-
But you will breed them. Priceless.

Cute puppies! I have a gold dog too. Just noticing in the photo, the mum & puppies are in a plastic dog bed on a hard floor. I hope it's not as cold there as it is here because that just seems too cold for puppies. I wouldn't let my adult dog sleep like that. Anyway, you've probably thought of everything anyway.

Cody makes me giggle. That can only be a good thing. He dances for me every day. :D

Would You Eat Food Offered To You By A Dog?
7464 replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
Nope. Sorry, I wouldn't take food from the basket the dog carried. I won't touch my own dog when I'm going to eat, let alone someone else's. I'm a bit of a cross contamination freak. -
I came to dol because I googled the name of a designer breed. I stuck around because it opened my eyes to a whole other world. I stay now because I'm hooked. I've met some really cool people here.
-
I expect no reaction from Cody. I've taken many things off him over the years and sometimes I just stick my hand in his food bowl when he's eating. Being able to take something without him getting aggro has helped him when I had to remove a small piece of bone wedged in his palate. I can imagine if he was a resource guarder he wouldn't have let me get close enough to help him.
-
Supervise, anticipate, redirect and act to remove problem before it occurs. I also used to say "uhah" to Cody but I don't really say it anymore because he's pretty close to perfect.

If we were having a heatwave I would. But then, my aircon goes all through the house so if it´s a heatwave it´s already on for me. Cody sleeps in the screened outside room on hot nights. He can find his own breezy spot out there.

Noooooooooooooooooooo, I do not want a pointer. I do NOT want a pointer. Aww, damn he's cute. Yes you dooooo!!! I've never had a dog make so much eye contact (when there are no distractions that is!) but he will sit with me for hours while I "pat" him and kiss him and he just stares into my eyes. Seriously having a pointer is more romantic than having a bloke. They eat about as much though. Cody stares at me until he falls asleep. I love that dog and I suspect if I was to anthromorphise, I could say he loves me too. Really I just think he knows he has no thumbs so he can´t prepare his own dinner and open the gate for walkies and drive the car to the lake and and and....

You chew their muzzles?

Ah, patting vs stroking. My answer is still the same for Cody. I pat him on the head as well as stroking. And he comes back for more of both. However, I'd never do it to a dog that wasn't mine. But then, I'm not a huge fan of patting or stroking other people's dogs.
-
Tell that to Cody. He loves it. If you stop before he's ready, he shoves his face back into your hand.

Honey looks good. She's wet so she'll look a bit leaner than normal. I see fromt his chart that Cody is verging on the pudgy side. It's getting hard to keep him lean as he has finally decided at 9 years old that he is not a puppy anymore.

Love a dog being a dog!

Wow, I'm glad Noah was inside! I was looking after my brother's house just after he moved in a couple of years ago. In the hallway I found what appeared to be a doorbell. Of course I pressed it, nothing appeared to happen. Next morning I went outside and saw the garage door open. Funny place to put a switch for the garage door, I reckon.

RIP Rocco.

Linky for the youtube clip? I have one of Cody being tortured, he's trying to find a biscuit and uses all three braincells to get there.

Ah yes, but he does a great job at making you smile. The best job in the world.
