I couldn't find the original thread so I started this one. Sorry. I am not great in the brain department today. Siv, I am still in awe of your selfless act of giving Page your beautiful Pirate Pete (jet) puppy. He certainly is helping her and will be there to help the entire family for the rest of his life.

Terrorbull there is nothing to say. I have no words for her parents or her Grandpa. I feel that the Page is growing her wings so she can soar over the top of all this worldy pain and suffering. :D
-
I am sure Jet is doing all he can. Oh to the wonderful DOler who sent a couple of poodle charms for her. Thank you, she recieved them and was very happy. THANK YOU

I just got word that Page is VERY sick and has lost heaps of weight. Jet/Pete is doing his best to give love and comfort. I think you would all remember how thin Page was when she got Jet. :p Here is a photo of her on that happier day to refresh your memory. :D

[ Wait till you have to take your dog to the vet to get a pink blankie out of his bum - Then tell me how funny it is!! edited to apologise Terrorbull. I am sure it wasnt funny but I just cracked up when I read that!

Well I for one will not be happy till I see PICTURES lots and lots of PICTURES ok? Go with what the breeder and the vet says about the heart mummur. Some pups do grow out of it. Just make sure that you get your own vet to check the pup! Good luck with GSD puppy. I am sure you know that GSD's are the best dogs in the world......not that I am biased at all :D Oh yeah edited to add Welcome to the board got carried away with the GSD thing!

We have had some very heavy frosts here and Niki has learnt not to lick her water bucket before cracking the ice on top first. The first time she got her tongue stuck and was screaming for help. I had to pour water over her tongue. She wouldn't drink from the bucket for awhile. Now she slams a paw in the bucket first. Even now the weather has warmed up she still does it. But OT completely, I cant stop her getting her tongue stuck in the vacuum cleaner! I have to vacuum with her outside, screaming the place down to get to it.

:p Niki sits on the tiled kitchen floor with her rear end sliding backwards and her front paws sliding forwards. She does this sort of caterpillar hump and tries to get both her front and back legs together and then repeats the hump. We crack up laughing at her. It is so funny. As for the slippery floor phobia, my sister in laws dog is phobic about floorboards because the vet surgery has them. His phobia has extended to concrete floors as well. She has tried treats as well. What worked for her was bodily hoisting him on the tiles and sitting with him and ignoring him until he settled down. She then praised him and let him go. She did this over a number of days. Now he is ok with floorboards and concrete EXCEPT at the vets!

Oh Ellz The mental picture you just painted. I do let the bitch back into clean up but even with tight little tummy's they still all try and hang off and she runs away, so it's left to me now. AND, the puppy's seem to think that everytime I go near them I have food so swamp me just like they do to their mum. So I get covered as well!

Yes I have seen the light!! I have got them on soaked puppy biscuits now.

Arent they great. I have been using face washers, baby wipes and paper towels........didnt work very well but the chamios is great. Why didn't I know this before!!!
-
Weaning puppies is such a huge mess. Our puppies wade in the bowl, they then get all crunchy. Anyway I rang a friend who is a groomer and fellow breeder and asked how she cleaned up her puppies. She said to use a chamois. I tried it and it is great. It doesnt wet the puppy but it takes all the muck off them and leaves them all fluffy and clean. I rinse the chamois in warm water with a bit of baby shampoo and then ring it out. Any one else got any ideas that work for them?

I was told by my breeder not to give olive oil but some sort of other vegie oil. So I now use sardines in oil once a week.
