What amazing stories about some amazing dogs!! I have a couple to add. My daughter was walking two of our shepherds a few years ago on an isolated part of the local bike track, Beretta was only a young dog, under 12 months and her mother Niki was over 2 years. Whilst my daughter was walking, two male teens rode up on bikes and began to say some horrible and suggestive things to my daughter, she was very frightened especially when they started circling her with their bikes. When one got off their bike, Niki went into full protective mode, barking snarling and putting herself in between the male and my daughter (she was 15 at the time) Beretta who had NEVER showed any signs of being protective was the real star of the show, she very calmly slipped her collar and lunged at the male, all hackles up and chased him away. Only stopping when my daughter yelled out for her to stop and come......Beretta calmly stopped and returned to my daughter and they came home. Beretta is a the silent but deadly type!! Oh and they are both GSD's. Early last year I was in a DV situation. Leo my mini poodle that I had rescued attacked my ex despite knowing him. He was kicked in the stomach and was winded but he still had tried to defend me. Leo also once tore a chunk out of someones leg when they pretended to throw me into the river, I screamed and Leo bite HARD. One of my GSDs is extremely protective of me, she sleeps on my bed at night time and has the deepest most menacing growl I have ever heard. We have had a spate of prowlers and the last time, Jade stuck her nose through the curtain gave a blood curdling snarl and who ever was out there let out an expletive and bolted. I have no doubt she would protect me as she has bailed up people who have come into the yard before that she doesnt know. She doesnt back down either. A trained dog handler tried to intimidate her and she stood her ground, with no noise, no hackles up, just standing there, head up, ears up and watching. The closer he got the bigger she got. When she decided he had got close enough she took a step toward him and growled with lips rolled back. He wisely retreated. Yet Jade is the most friendliest smoochest shepherd you could ever have. She adores my kids and is very accepting of people I allow into the house.

Is there some way of putting a link to a pdf of the flyer for Leo so other breeders can add them to puppy packs and others can hand them out?? I KNOW that Leos story has saved puppys and dogs.

Word of mouth and emails MM, I hand out flyers to everyone and in every puppy pack i give out to my puppy buyers I include Leo's story and the link to his website. Oh and btw Ravyk is going to set up an email for Leo so people can email him. lol lol lol. Hmmmm now to tell leo he has to learn how to type. Thats really nice of you Ravyk, he is a good cuddler isnt he!! LOL LOL. Least after his dental work he doesnt leave a stain on your face when he breathes on you. He is currently curled up behind me on the chair.........I have been left with a couple of inches to sit on...........

Jelly You have done an amazing job and Leo and I are forever grateful for your hard work and dedication to the site you created. It has saved many dogs and changed many peoples attitudes to pet shop pups. Many people are still touched by the website and his story.... I cannot afford to take it over or I would. I am very happy that other people are offering and I sincerly hope that someone is able to help. As for Leo's original owner.............she was offered Leo back again from the people who allowed Leo to get into this state. He was in such a bad state and know one, not even our vet was sure he would pull through. Thanks again Jelly Cindy and Leo

Morning........... Leo is a lot more with it today, but is hurting more So I am about to give him his pain killers. Poodlemum that is such a creepy present!!! But some how appropriate in a way. I have a question for you! Are the standard poodles similiar in temperament as the mini's? Tara and Sam.........yep Leo is a mummy's boy through and through. He fought the after affects of the gas until i got there and then he crashed. He is a very special boy. mother moocher..........the toof fairy didnt come to poor leo!!! norti toof fairy.

Ok..........after a huge search that almost ended in the loss of my sanity I found the one and only SD adapter for the little itty bitty card from my phone. Here is a photo of Leo in my arms, still recovering from the operation. He relaxed totally when I picked him up and he slept. You can see the two missing front teeth. Once again......AWESOME job from the Aldgate vet! They were the original vets that saved Leo. After much staggering around a few sleeps, he is now dining on some squishy soft chicken mince mixed with some rice. I am sure I am spoiling him.......but you know what? I dont care

Yeah that would be good!! I will try and retrieve some photos of Leo in my arms at the vet he looks so out of it but so cute............*runs off to ask Leoluva how to retrieve photos of phone*

The vibes must have worked. It is AWFUL when the go under the knife..I was totally freaked out about and got leoluva to take stacks of photos of the two of us together "just in case"

Thanks Loraine, it is good to be back on DOL! Leo is doing well.......apart from his minor operation today. THe girls and i WILL come through cause we are stronger than even my ex thought possible.

Thanks again for all the good thoughts and prayers!! Leo had to have four teeth removed. He is not very happy but is now home asleep on our bed (I should say his bed!) He had the two back molars top left removed and two tiny ones at the front bottom. He is still very wobbly and unco from his operation. You should have seen him when i went to pick him up, he was actually howling till he saw me and I picked him up and even though his poor little mouth must be hurting (he even has stitches) he still licked my face and pretty much went straight to sleep in my arms. Leoluva was one of the vet nurses (she is in training at the clinic she grooms at) that assisted with his op so I knew he was in good hands. It didnt stop me from ringing all the time though

Leo is going to have surgery tomorrow, nothing major just his teeth but he has to be under completely. Please send lots of good thoughts for him as I am worried about him. I get very protective over Leo and I love him to bits.

LWC.........thanks I am not sure I am an inspiration but DV is an insidious problem that can happen to anyone, most people keep it hidden for fear of not being believed. This has to change.

I handed some people goo goo gooing at puppies in a pets prison a DoggieRescue magazine recently . I expected the shop people to after me swinging a kong. swinging a kong?? ;) omg that is soooo funny no there is no flyers on his website I have made my own, with his story and his photos plus a link to his website. Yes I have amazing friends you are so right there!

Thanks! Things were quite tough there for awhile but I have the most amazing friends and the Mount Barker DV police are AWESOME!!!! As for the petshop ban........nope they cant stop me from standing outside and handing out Leo story flyers
