I agree with you totally Fifi, something has changed when things like this are popping up as the norm. It really has me perplexed and worried, they are not life threatening, but must be very uncomfortable for the poor bitches.

Thanks for the reply Fifi. I know that it can be hereditary, but my Pug girl's mother and grandmother never had one and she is only 4 years old and hasn't had a hint of one before. It just seems very odd that in 35 years of breeding I'd never even heard of one and now they are seem to be occurring frequently. I guess I am just trying to find a reason for it.

I posted this on the What Dry Food thread, but thought I should start it again on a new thread: I have been using Advance food mixed with raw beef, or lamb, or chicken and either cooked or raw veges, consisting of carrot, sweet potato, pumpkin, silverbeet, broccoli, zuchinni, not necessarily all at once, sometimes I add rice or pasta. Two of my pugs will eat, then almost immediately vomit it back up. This breeding season I have had two Frenchies and two Pugs with Vaginal Hyperplasias and I am wondering if it could be food related. I have been breeding dogs for 35 years and never experienced this before. It is interesting to note that one of the Pugs does not live with me, she has had 3 heats prior to this one and never had a H/P before, now she is on Advance and she has a small one. My other Pug bitch has had two litters of 7 without a hint of a H/P, this time she had one protruding about the size of a golf ball. Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this????? I have spoken to my vet who doesn't seem to think it is food related, but I have my doubts and would appreciate any advice. It occurs because of a high incidence of Eostrogen in the system and disappears when they go out of season, but what would cause them to suddenly have high levels????

I have a Shiba Inu that has had a cronic ear infection for years. I am now trying this Blue Ear Treatment with amazing success. It is relatively cheap and the main thing is it does work. Blue_Ear_Tretment.pdf

Your Sam will need a booster shot, they usually have it at 12 mnths, but don't let the vet give him the Fort Dodge Protech Duramine as it can cause fitting, diahorrhea with blood which lasts up to 6 wks, or death in severe cases. Some dogs can take it and not have a reaction, but I don't think it's worth the risk. I only use Canvac C5 for a 12 mnth booster.

The best formula that I have ever used is one that was posted on a forum. I have used it for four years now with huge success and never any constipation or diahorrhea. The puppies thrive on it and never look like orphans. I use it to supplement the mother as well as topping up puppies that are not thriving. Since using this formula I have not lost an orphan or had one get sick. I have found it is cheaper and far, far better than manufactured formulas. BEEF_LIVER_REMEDY_FOR_FADING_PUPPIES.doc

Puppies can get very sick, many can die from their first vaccination. I always tell my puppy buyers NOT to get Fort Dodge, Protech Duramine vaccinations. I have had reactions like fitting, diahorrhea (sometimes including blood), which can last for 6 wks or more. Pain and pitiful crying for days, or just severe lethargy, vomiting. Many vets will deny that this can occur so you have to ask experienced breeders as it happens in many breeds. I will only allow my puppies to be vaccinated with CANVAC C3 for their first vaccinations and then they can have a C5 for their 12 mnths. Or they can have a C5 for their 3rd vaccination at 12 - 15 wks old.

Dog Food Advice For Itchy Boy
pugsnfrenchies replied to Loraine's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have a Frenchy boy that was scratching himself red raw and also getting large Hot Spots. I took him to many vets to no avail, the put him on "special" dietary foods such as Science Diet ZD, but that did no good and he didn't like it much anyway, then they tried cortisone which I hated giving him. I then changed to Advance Turkey and Rice and now use it for all my dogs, it is brilliant and no more itching. I also changed my shampoo to one you can buy from Health Shops, it's called Paws, you can also buy it on TVSN.com.au. But now I use a cheaper option that is homemade by a Groomer friend and is Olive Oil based. He never itches now, so could be worth trying the Paws shampoo. -
One of my French Bulldogs had very severe itching, I changed shampoos with him to one purchased off TVSN.com. You can also buy it at Health shops. It's called Paws and has no chemicals in it. Since using it he has stopped itching. He was scratching himself raw. I also stopped using chicken as they use so many hormones and chemicals these days to grow them. Or find an organic chicken producer and buy your meat from there. The only dry food I will feed him is Advance Turkey and rice. I have tried the BP mix from Robert McDowell, but it didn't really help him and he hated the taste, even ran and hid behind chairs when he saw me with it.

Like someone else has mentioned, I put the tablets in a ball of beef mince, you can also add a small amount of Nutripet/Nutrigel, or if the dog is particularly fussy , you can try Liverwurst which you buy at the supermarkets in plastic wrappers shaped like a sausage.
