Do you mean the Added Area, or the West St Oval? If it is the added area that is where the Shoalhaven Dog Training Club do their obedience /agility training.

Hi All, It has been ages since I've ventured into here, so hello everyone. We have just upgraded the computer on Friday and it probably all ready obsolute. Anyway I did down load the dog soft on the new one off the web today and can not seem to get to add the fixture date on the entry forms so the whole thing was scraped. I had previuosly used this programme and was happy with it. So has anyone else had the same issue? If so how did they fix it? Or can anyone suggest another programme that is available online. Please don't suggest ozentries as I only use them as an absolute last resort. Thanks in advance Belinda

LOL. That's exactly what the person with the breed in front of me said. I was aware of course that it was quite likely just a story, but if they wanted room I didn't mind giving it to them. If I had moved forward in this case I think the guy behind me would have just followed me, but leaving space to move into is a good tip generally. Thanks. Not always a story though I have had a bitch of mine once attacked outside the ring, and then in general specials had the exact same breed behind her, she was beside herself, and at the time I was fairly new, and so she played up merry hell. I did ask them to move their dg back when the dog behind them was doing their workout, and the other exhibitor was aware that one of their breed had attacked one of my breed, and was more than happy to give me space when I pointed it out that she was the one attacked.

Shared Accomodation Canberra Royal
Belinda replied to Bilbo Baggins's topic in General Dog Discussion
SO you can now stay there with dogs, as long as the dogs are parked behind the office? Is this in their cabins? Need to know for future reference. -
I always go in and line up with a fair amount of space between me and the dog in front of me, until nearly everyone is in, then I close the space between myself & the dog in front. Hopefully by then the dogs behind me are stacked and their handlers don't want them to move. Another thing to do is say that your dog/ bitch has had a fright with whatever breed it is behind them, that way they generally tend to give you some space. I must admit the only time this has happened with me was in sweeps and with another of my own breed.

If you are transfering state regos I would thinkyou would need to get a blue slip for any vechile coming into NSW> If you go to the RTA site it should tell you.

There are no dogs at Berry Show Society anymore, that is why you didn't see any. Nowra District Kennel Club Inc is holding a one day show tomorrow, weather forecast is for rain in the morning, according to weatherzone.

I have flown dogs & puppies ( 8 weeks) to & from Perth to Sydney. I must admit I too have been on the same flight. I won't board until I have seen the dogs loaded, and then make sure the "purser" knows that I have dogs in the hold. Just incase something goes wrong, they can come to me. I always go on direct flights. It takes us 2 -3 hrs to get to the airport. I have also flown a puppy to Brisvegas, but that too was a direct flight. I realise that sometimes direct flights are not available, due to remote localities. But this does sound like it needs a bit of investigation by the carrier. Sorry for the loss.

I have a toldeo made 2000, which does have the shark grills. From looking at the Norwood site they have the same setup. Does anyone here have a norwood & have they experienced this problem. BTW my toledo has a gal interior.

Yes thanks for that but if it drwas air in from the sides, what about the spray from other vechiles when driving along in the rain? Or is it that my trailer jsut leaks?
-
I just went and looked at the Norking website and 2 things jumped out at me. 1/ plywood interior walls & want happens when one has puppies inthe trailer?? Would prefer a gal interior than you & not offered as an option. 2/ whirly gigs on each compartment to draw fresh air into the doors & side vents, and what happens when one is driving in the rain? You get wet dogs at the endof the trip. Still haven't yet worked out ho to combat that one. Any suggestions?

The Best Thing I Heard At The Royal Was...
Belinda replied to Elfin's topic in General Dog Discussion
2 years ago @ Sydney Royal, may daughter then 2 1/2 fell asleep in the bench, the dog benched there had very accommodatingly gone to sleep on the ground. How many times were we asked what kind of dog was the child? Was she expensive to feed? How much did she cost? The answers were The rare Homo Sapian sheepdog. Not that much as she only ate scraps. And $15000, but with the baby bonus only $10000. Also asked< "if the dogs liked her, well obvously not as they wouldn't sleep with her?" not that we wouldn't let the dogs sleep with the child. -
Hi, I have a bitch (desexed Collie Rough) that had a soft tissue sarcoma. It was on her show side rear leg, on her hock joint. I first noticed it one day whilst bathing her. It was about the size of a 20 c piece. We had it surgically removed and closure of the wound was difficult. That was April 2005. By Spetember 2005 it was already growing back. In late January 2006 she had her hind leg amputated. She was 9 1/2 yrs old. The vets said that soft tissue sarcoma's are extremely common in older animals on their limbs. They are not the kind of cancer that spreads. Why do they grow so rapidly well that is because when you have 3 cells reproducing every couple of days there is moderate growth, but when you have thousands reproducing well them you'll have massive growth. Our bitch is still alive will be 11 in July, and runs around like a fool. We had to wait till there had been muscle wastage so that the surgery was a tad easier, less risk of bleeding out. She was in pain, I won't deny it, but ot look at her now. Why somepeople don't even notice she only has 3 legs. If you want anymore info just PM me.

Daily Heartworming Tablets
Belinda replied to Owned by Shelties's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I buy my heartworm (daily) tabs from Woolworths. Actually Home BRand, have found them the cheapest. The active ingredient is the same as Fido's, Dimmitrol etc. In response to the advice of they are slowly killing your dog......well so does Heartworm. I have Collies and wouldn't recommend you go with the monthly tabs as a lot of them contain Ivermectin, or one of the mectin family of drugs; and unless you've had your sheltie tested for Ivermectin sensitivity and know what status your dog is......well to put it bluntly if your dog is ivermectin sensitive and you give it ivermectin it could die. If proper veterinary attention is not given. -
I too use them ( Collie Roughs) have 1 of each size. Only take 2 to shows though, a pocket for my pocket and a junior which has my name, breed, and phone number engraved on the back. The cheapest place I've found to buy them is Peters of Kensington in NSW. Also use them on an English Setter I had. WONDERFUL for finish.

Grooming Scissors.......................
Belinda replied to pesh's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I too use single sided Roseline thinners, they were about $130 cost price about 6 yrs ago. I also have a pair of Roseline straights about $150 RRP 7 yrs ago, Wahl straights & thinners $75 RRP 3 yrs ago. I only use my scissors on clean dogs, and never NEVER on powdered dogs. -
I too use the dailty heartworm tablets. Easy to remember and certainly more cost effective if tablets brought in lots of 1000, than other methods. Also having a breed (collies) that are susceptible to the mectin family of drugs, it is the safest option for us.

Both Biolac & Di vetalact are powders that you mix up. I've never used Di VEtalact, but have heard that Biolac is a better product.
-
Are you in NSW?? If so most large pet food retailers have it ie Pet Barn etc. I'm not too sure if it is easy to source in other states.
-
I generally start to wean my pups about 3 -4 weeks. I soak Hills Puppy in Biolac milk, I sometimes if pushed for time will pop the kibble (dry) through a coffee grinder. Then just add more Biolac milk, as with a human baby it is all about consistency of the mix. Smoother the better. I do know of people that wean pups onto FArex and that type of thing...........if that is what you want to do go for it, but, I always think that those products are made for human babies not dog babies. IMHO

SO sorry to hear of "Blue's " passing. Certainly is a very sad time for the collie fraternity, with all the recent losses. :p

My 12 month old Collie Rough has just had a case of Demodex. We just let it run it course, as a friend of mine who is a breeder & a vet nurse said to me. "Vets often, rush in and treat demodex to quickly. You should let it be, to see if it is going to be generalised." I am happy to report that it has been there for 8 weeks and never got any bigger than a 50cent piece and guess what the hair is now growing back. Ivermectin is great, but a huge no no in some collies.
