  6. I used to walk bradshaw in a flat collar and lead, but his collar deteriorated from being on when swimming and we didnt replace it as he had a check chain in the cupboard. So I use that now, not that he needs it.. more often than not the old boy just wanders along behind and we slow down for him to catch up

  9. I was speaking to an a fellow classmate the other day and they were saying they are thinking of getting a dog next year. I asked what type. They want a border collie, but something similar would do. I mentioned the Aussie Shepard & the Coolie, they had never heard of either breed. Anyway the conversation progressed, they had no idea about registered breeders or health testing. This guy was the average Joe Blow who liked the look of Border Collies, had little info about the breed but liked the way they looked and had every intention of just getting a puppy either from a petshop or out of the paper. I get the impression that a lot of the general public believe that you only go to a registered breeder if you want a show dog, they just dont know any better Needless to say I gave him a run down on where to look and what to do, fingers crossed he takes what i said on board
  10. He's gorgeous Pandii Great shots Luke
  11. Thank you so much guys My teacher has taken me under his wing somewhat and Ill be going along to a few shoots with him in the new year, not as a 2nd shooter initially more for the experience. I cant wait!
  12. If by Breed snobs you mean people who hate to see wonderful dog breeds being bred and 'created' then sold for more money then necessary. Or do you mean people who are strongly opposed to backyard breeders who sell lies to unsuspecting people ''xxx is healthier then x because the breeding rules them out'' etc. So yes on a Purebred forum we do like to discuss purebred dogs ( and cross bred dogs are referred to as cross bred rather then a fancy name). Although that said, I think a fair few of us growing up would have owned a cross breed dog. Heck the dog which inspired my love of German Shepherds was a GSD x Kelpie my parents rescued from a pound before I was born. So just because we own pure bred dogs and advocate purchasing purebred dogs from reputable breeders does not mean we have not loved a cross bred dog. I think the main issue comes from people selling these cross breed dogs with a fancy name and false promises for higher prices then they are worth. My friend has a Labrador x Kelpie x Curly Coat Retriever..it was an oops litter and he paid $50 for the dog. The dog is a wonderful dog, well trained, and for the love she has brought him is invaluable. However...she is not one breed, and calling her a fancy name in order to sell her for a higher price would have been wrong in my opinion.

  16. Ive been doing an Advanced Photography course through our local community college. Our class is taught by a local award winning professional portrait and fine art photographer. Tonight we had our exhibition :D There were 8 students in the class and a total of 80 images on display ( 9 of those were mine) The images were judged by nsw & act portrait photographer of the year John Coxson. There were 8 awards handed out, 5 highly commended & 1st, 2nd & 3rd. I came home with a highly commended and 2nd place  I am so happy   In addition to this I took the opportunity to pick Johns brain about my work. He spent nearly an hour talking to me about my work and how to improve it. It was an honour to have someone I think so highly of take the time out to help me. It will take pics of the matted prints in the morning and post them up
