  5. Hi everyone, I just wanted to confirm and advise that there is no lure coursing with the RRCV on Sunday 20 January 2008. We requested several dates from Dogs Victoria and they have published those dates in their journal. We had asked them not to but unfortunately that is what needed to happen for their internal organisation. We will endeavour to confirm all lure coursing dated for 2008 to ensure that the information provided by RRCV and Dogs Victoria is accurate. The next lure coursing date will be posted in the near future. The RRCV sincerely apologises for any confusion or inconvenience caused.

  8. Hi Guys, Sorry I have been a bit slack in not advertising this lure coursing so thanks to CrashTestDummy for getting it up. I looked at the grounds last week at Earth Dog practice and it seemed okay - no worse than usual! It is uop to the individual to make the call as to whether they come or not. Tollersowned - those rules and guidelines have been in place for many months and are posted on the RRCV website. When we advertise we always refer to the guidelines which have been put in place for smoother running. Hope to see you there. Regards, Darren - RRCV.
  9. The RRCV is certainly looking forward to a great evening. We will be running a raffle together with the usual sausage sizzle with drinks for sale. In case of extreme weather conditions(inclement or above32C) lure coursing will not be run. If you are in doubt about the event being held, please contact Darren Stebbings on 0410 407 618 on the day for an update. Let them run. Darren.
  10. No it's not a typo. Make sure you check out the guidelines on the RRCV website.

  14. Lozzie's advice is good. It does depend on the individual dog and breed. Given the nature of the activity injuries can occur but they are very rare. The reason the RRCV advise against running young puppies is due to the fragile nature of their structural development. As for the fencing at Nillumbik the photo from Purple Julie depicts the fencing used. One side of the area is secured by a large stone wall. I do not recall any escapees from last year. Nillumbik is a great day. Regards, Darren RRCV.
  15. The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Victoria is pleased to announce the following lure coursing dates: 29th October 2006: To be held in conjunction with the Nillumbik Shire at their annual Pet Expo. This event is held at Marngrook Oval, Main Hurstbridge Road, Diamond Creek from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Running of dogs is free. The number of laps will depend on demand. For further info on this event please contact the Senior Municipal Laws Officer; Michael Keetch on 9433 3352. 26th November 2006: To be held at KCC Park, Western Port Hwy, Skye from 10.00am to 3.00pm. This will be held under the RRCV guidelines which can be found on the club website at http://www.rrcv.org.au Please ensure you have read the guidelines prior to attending. PLEASE NOTE - 26-11-06 is the same day as Peninsula Pet & Pony Expo. Due to the Shire being unable to accomodate our requirements to conduct lure coursing at their chosen venue we are forced to decline their offer to participate. However we will conduct our business as usual at KCC Park on that day with bbq sausages and cold drinks available. BOTH THESE DATES ARE FOR ALL BREEDS AND CROSS BRED DOGS. Hope to see you there. Darren Stebbings President RRCV.
  16. I would love to know who started this naughty rumour. It is certainly not true and the RR club will be holding all breeds/cross breed coursing in the future. We are looking into having twilight coursing over summer. Cheers, Darren Stebbings President RRCV.
  17. The RR club will be holding all breed & cross breed coursing soon. Stay tuned! Darren.

  19. Hi All, The combined coursing and racing day was a huge success with many new comers getting a good taste. The opportunity to see the experienced dogs run was no doubt great for all. Love the photos. I particularly like the last one of a few dogs standing together. Excuse my ignorance, but what are DOLers? We did have a few minor hiccups on the day but after all, we are only human! Things came together when we took a punt and ran the coursing and racing at the same time. I can't wait to get our new Border Terrier (Soda) into the racing and earth dog stuff. The RRCV have alrady discussed holding several twighlight coursing evenings on Sundays throughout daylight savings, possibly from 4.00pm to 8.00pm. Do you think we will get the numbers to make this viable ? For any of you in the Sale area the East Gippsland Obedience Club have contracted the RRCV to do lure coursing for the local community at The Velodrome in Sale from 10.00am to 12.00 noon on Sunday 13 August 2006. I understand this is a free day but no doubt the club will appreciate any donations. Thanks for your support on Saturday and I hope we see you all again soon. Regards, Darren Stebbings President RRCV.
  20. A comined racing and coursing day will be held ay KCC Park, Westernport Hwy, Skye on Saturday 5th August 2006. The Lure Racing & Earth Dog Club have combined with the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Vic to hold this day. This will be an ideal day for those who have not experienced these activities before. The day is aimed at showing the thrills of coursing and racing to previously untried dogs. Our usual participants are most welcome but they will need to be patient while we focus on the newcomers. Racing is for the small dogs and coursing for both large & small dogs of any breed or mixed breed. The day will commence at 10.00am with half an hour of lure racing followed by half an hour of coursing and so on until 2.00pm. The BBQ will be cooking snags ($1.50 each) with cold drinks also for sale ($1.50 each). What do you need - strong collar and lead (not a correction collar), water bowl (bringing your own water will save a walk to the tap), stake or crate to secure your dog when they are not running (unless you are prepared to hang on to them). Cost will be $5-00 per dog for each activity which allows for as many runs as you can get. For further information check out the websites: Lure racing: http://lureracing.customer.netspace.net.au Ridgeback club: http://www.rrcv.org.au
  21. H everyone, Thrilled that the regulars will be there on 16-7-06 and great to get some new interest. I unfortunately can't be there has we will hopefully be tracking Buzz (ridgeback) and Jet (GWP) that weekend. However if we don't get a track on the Sunday we will be lure coursing. I have been hanging out to see the bordeaux have a go and am spewing I will miss the first attempt. Tyler will be more than welcome to do whatever makes the two of you happy and comfortable. Sorry for the delay in answering all the questions. The answers to all questions are on the RRCV website and contained in the lure coursing guidelines. Lure coursing is for all breeds and cross breeds. I have seen gundogs that do a better job than some sight hounds and vice versa. Some of our ridgebacks are not interested while others go beserk. We encourage all dogs to have a go, and if they don't get it the first time we will help encourage their interest. We do have another day scheduled for Saturday 5 August 2006 in conjunction with the lure racing club (terriers). This day will be in a different format thn usual and is designd to give a new experience to people in the dog world. It is advertised on page 24 of the May Vicdog. More details at a later date. Anyway, thanks for the great response and I enjoy the enthusiasm that these messages create. Enjoy the dogs. Darren.
  22. The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Victoria will be holding lure coursing at KCC Park, Skye on Sunday July 16 from 12.00noon to 3.00pm. All breeds and crossbreeds welcome. Go to the club website for further details and guidelines. See you there, Darren.
  23. Hi Everyone, The RRCV now has the new guidelines up on the club website - www.rrcv.org.au Please go and have a look and tell everyone you know is coming on 12-2-2006 to have a look. I will be pleased to hear your constructive feedback - [email protected] or come and have a chat on Sunday. Please remember, these guidelines are a work in progress but this version will operate on Sunday 12-2-2006. We do hope that the next lure date will be for a full day so everyone will have plenty of time for numerous runs and we won't all have to be there at the start, there will be many chances to purchase tickets throughout the day. I hope to see you on Sunday 12-2-2006. Darren President of the RRCV.
  24. Hi there lure coursing fans, The Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of Victoria is always working towards providing a better service on our lure days. We are currently putting together some guidelines for all participants in an attempt to help the days run more smoothly and ensure everyone attending has an opportunity to give their dogs a run or two. We would appreciate any feedback or ideas - send your thoughts to [email protected] Once we have prepared the guidelines we will make them available through the RRCV lure coursing e-mail list and also at each event. February 12 will see a sausage sizzle and cold cans of soft drink for sale at $2.00 each. We propose to increase runs to $2.00 for 2 laps and we will be regulating the number of tickets sold so as to ensure there is an opportunity for all dogs to run. Owners should note that dogs who get along can run together in groups of two or more - that way we will get through the ticket holders much faster - just a thought. Come and have a look at our new shed and give us some ideas of what to do with the old one - perhaps we could have a working bee to fix it up and utilise on lure days. The RRCV committee appreciates all dogs and owners who attend our lure events and we love to hear ALL feedback. This is not just for ridgebacks - it is an all breeds event - including crossbred dogs. Fun for all! And as so nicely put by 'Feral Sam' - it is all about the dogs! Don't forget - if you are not a VCA member, and Feb 12 will be your first time, you will need to pay a $6.50 insurance levy which covers you for 12 months. Sorry I missed the last one but I am looking forward to Feb 12. Hope to see you there and please, come and say hello and share your thoughts. Darren Stebbings President RRCV.
